Summary: The 4th Batman movie and franchise killer! Joel Schumacher completely and thoroughly butt rapes the iconic DC comics character with (yet again) way too many villains, the addition of Batgirl, far too much neon, and a gay desecration of the batsuit. George Clooney puts on the cape and cowl, complete with nipples and codpiece, for the first and last time. Lacking any acting talent, George just isn't able to put on the persona of The Batman as easily as he slips on the sexually enhanced batsuit. We watch in horror, helpless, as George traipeses around Gotham the exact same way he would were he on an episode of ER. Joining him on the gay romp, and equally enthusiastic in his bat-thong and bat-bra is cross-dressing Chris O'Donnell as Robin, the ambiguously gay "partner" of Batman. His usefulness to The Batman is in question in this movie. Robin seems as unneeded as are the nipples on his batsuit. And, as if there needed to be any more femininity in the movie, Alfred's niece needlessly inserts herself in-between the dynamic duo as the "clueless" Batgirl, played perfectly by Alicia Silverstone--another wasted character thrown into an impotent crowd. In this last kitchy farce, the Batfamily takes on villains Mr. Freeze (Arnold Schwarzenegger), Poison Ivy (Uma Thurman), and Bane (Some wrestler). At times utilizing bright neon sticks, they stylistically battle the trendy villians of Gotham, chat up the sparkly hookers, and generally tool around town trying to find a storyline. What they find is that their beloved butler Alfred is sick and dying from an incurable disease--enabling Batgirl's appearance as his niece from England. Bruce and Dick have communication issues. Mr. Freeze wants to encase Gotham City in ice "just because". Poison Ivy wants... wants... Who the hell knows what, but she has Bane break stuff a lot. Too many villains, too many heroes, and too much neon make this a sad ending to the Batman franchise. A tribute to Hollywood's lack of respect.
