Flash and Wonder Woman Movies Off the Table

An inside source is reporting that Warner Bros. Pictures Group president Jeff Robinov is pulling the plug on these pictures for the time being.

Warner Bros. Pictures Group president Jeff Robinov has renewed his contract and his "first priority" is "restructuring" of DC Comics. Nikki Finke is reporting that this is not directly related to the Disney/Marvel merger. She reports that an "insider" confided in her:

"It was Jeff's idea to have DC Comics reporting to him, and DC will be his direct responsibility with Diane Nelson."

Finke also reports that Robinov has been quietly "calling back" high-profile projects like The Flash and Wonder Woman from outside producers in an effort to "severely limit the number of gross participants on the projects." According to Finke's source:

"Jeff always wanted some kind of oversight of DC, and now he wants Warners to hold onto ownership."

While this means a delay in the short term, in the long run it could mean a more cohesive "shared universe" amongst the various DC Comics adaptations, along the lines of what Marvel Studios plans to do with its properties leading up to The Avengers.

	I don't really think WW would work in today's day in age. She was all about the Women's rights era. She worked! But, I'd have to say that nowadays, that struggle is over for the most part. (There's always the exception), but now, she would have to become a sex symbol, which wasn't really what she was all about. She was about girl power, not exploiting women. Although, I wouldn't mind seeing a movie like that. ;) As for Flash... they missed their chance on that. The PERFECT time would have been around the same time as the first Matrix. 	This may be a good move. DC and Warner having some unity is not a bad thing. Both characters can have relevance in todays world but a build up to a JLA is still a good direction. What I see is not a race with Marvel but against the copyright issues. Superman is a very big part of the DC universe like Spider-man is at Marvel. If there is no good project out before 2013, you might see Marvel doing a regular Superman comic. The Segiel ladies will only whore out the character to get the most money but one can hope that won't be the case. Flash and Wonder Woman are very important charaters in the full DC formula. 	@lee Well I'm OK with thise though. You know theyre gonna base this around batman universe becuase if they ever plan on doing Justice League they have too. But they also cant FORCE Chris Nolan To put some super powered baddy in there. I personally think it could work but they have to be VERY CAREFUL because one lame plot twist and it becomes unbelievable to the public. 	Set2Fallfirst - I disagree! I don't think you would need Batman to make a good Justice League of America movie! Bats and Supes don't even need to show up until the end of the first movie at least! The JLA has enough power without them, and they would just serve to de-emphasize the teamwork that makes the group so formidable, as well as to take the focus off of all the other players that desperately need the spotlight for character development!! I prefer to think of the satellite era JLA as the DEFINITIVE version:Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash(Allen), Green Lantern(Jordan), The Atom(Palmer), Hawkman, Green Arrow(Queen), The Black Canary and maybe the Elongated Man and Red Tornado!! Reservists should include the Martian Manhunter, Superman and Batman with new members Zatanna, Firestorm, Meatamorpho and Hawkgirl being added later on! THAT is THE JLA roster that needs to be immortalized on the silver screen!! I'm salvitating just thinking about it! 	LEE: i was going to get that special edition but if i were you i wouldnt bother!! apparently the batarang is just cheap plastic and glued to the stand its on, the booklet about the characters is all info thats in the game and the DVD just features clips you can see on IGN or YouTube! 	I'm taking the same track with this as I did with marvel/disney. These projects are dead only until the new company has a chance to set up the universe they want brought to the screen. DC/WB has been running around like a chicken with its head cut off for the last decade while marvel pours comic films out every summer. The sad truth of their situation is Superman is in rights lock up hell, and the franchise is going to need a restart. Batman, as great as those movies made by Nolan are, is unlinked to the DCU in its current form and neither Nolan nor Bale will agree to insert that version of Batman into the DC film universe. DC/WB, to be blunt needs to get its shit together. Comic movies like westerns are a genre of film. Right now comic movies are "the summer genre," but just as the westerns before it there will be a saturation point at which time the general public will tire of the relentless stream of comic based films and the fanboys alone will not be able to generate enough revenue to justify making these $150 million + films any longer. I give it another ten years and the trend will end. This means WB/DC has lost out on more than half the game clock. This is half time at the big game and Marvel is up by six TDs. DC has to regroup and fight back hard in the second half. This is why all this regrouping is happening. I have faith that this will be good in the long run, DC will decide how they want their Universe on the big screen and WB will throw the resources at them to do it so long as they know there is an end goal in sight. This is cohesion and these movies (FLASH WW GREEN ARROW and JL) WILL be made WB just wants it to all tie together. The problem is the 300lbs Gorilla in the room: the current successful Batman franchise. If any movies will be dropper permanently it may be and should be the third installment. 	I have a feeling DC will eventually use GL like Marvel did with Iron Man, and try to use him to unify the verse. I so can see other characters popping up in GL sequels, and doing spinoffs. 	InFamouslyCool - It's just a matter of tweaking things so that WW would speak equally to the contemporary audience, male or female, much in the way that the romance of Raimi's Spidey flicks appealed to women! Honestly, I think it would be refreshing to see a female action lead in the super-hero film genre! WW is a fairly easy character to update! Playing down the feminist bent could be the overall theme of the script. Eventually she will wind up fighting injustice in whatever form it takes! Shaman - My guess is that DC is carefully approaching its iconic characters to ensure that all the involved scripts have "easter eggs" and subtle allusions foreshadowing the JLA forming! Having the next Superman flick(s) with a cliffhanger ending, leading into the JLA movie would be perfect! This would also help to cleanse the pallet of Superman Returns with a fressh start! 	Thanx Shaman Im glad someone notices I'm still here. I mean it only makes sense that DC would use GL as the starting point. He's literally a universal character. I wouldn't be surprised if we caught a cameo in the upcoming movie. I do wish that DC would treat WW like Marvels treating Thor. Giver her that LOTR's feel. Who would see a Flash movie besides the real fans, there are people out there that have no clue who Flash is. Wonder Woman would have a shot because many still remember the old tv show. 	Flash has real potential for a big franchise. He has one of the most extensive rogue galleries of all comics. He is smart/witty and yet still a deeply routed emotional character. There are tons of resources to pull from with the multitude of stories. Flash will bring in tons of money due to he is just an entertaining character, his smart witty remarks during fight scenes and cocky attitude. That is where they failed with Spiderman, he had no wit. No funny banter when webbing Goblin and Doc Oc. They do it with Flash it can be a very entertaining movie with some serious undertones that equals success for WB and ultimately launching WB/DC ahead of Marvel. As for GL that movie needs to be epic. I almost feel like they're using two things to try and make this movie successful 1.Ryan Reynolds name pulling ppl to the movie 2.That starwars feel, where its not really about Hal Jordan but, using Hal as a jumping point for the entire universe. The same as Luke Skywalker was a jumping point for the Starwars universe. For some reason I see DC playing it almost too safe trying to keep it from bombing and getting an above-average movie that never really feels like it is living up to its full potential but, still it does well enough to draw more interest for the DCU and gets other projects on the fast track. 	Megan Gale still has my vote! Instead of waiting til the end of days for a Justice League movie to be realized by Hollywood, why not just give her the starring role in a solo feature, like Wonder Woman?! She seems to have the looks and attitude to do the role some justice, so to speak. As far as I'm concerned, casting the role of Diana, with a wildly known actress, such as Charlize Theron or Angelina Jolie, simply detracts from the character's believability factor on screen. In my eyes,the focus needs to be on being able to suspend disbelief long enough to believe that this woman in front of you on the silver screen TRULY IS Wonder Woman and not "Jane Actress AS Wonder Woman."
