I don't care about diversity at all. All I care about is if its a good story or not. That's all that should ever matter.

Don't tell me he won spider powers in a raffle . . .

He honestly looks like he's not interested at all. Disconnected.

Why does his mom have a scar on her face?

Looks very fine and actual.

Bendis must have watched "Waiting For Superman" documentary, that exposes the USA education lottery to poor families have access to high levels schools.

Real problems.

im digging it. Will follow it as well, like the creative team. Picked up the fallout lead up for my nephews and after reading it, you should have heard the conversations and their excitement. That a what comic books are for, lets not forget the kids in us who love these characters and be afraid of change or passing these characters to the next generation.

WTH is this.....looks like they're raffling off their kids.

couldn't care less about the whole "diversity controversy"... but this looks like spider-kid, not spider-man... how old is he again? 11?

anyone else notice the "spidey" balloon in the very first pic?

13 is just too young!!! He would barely knows his own identity how the hell could he manage a secret one!!!

I hope Peter is brought back within a year and says "Thanks Kid for keeping my webs warm for me while I was away...but now Im back you can go home to your Mommy!!!"

That would be sweet...

I like the diversity, but I think he should be a little older.

Ok, digging the look, but why so young?

What I believe is happening in these frames is a raffle to decide who gets to go to the next step of education and which kids have to drop out. Because there is not room for everyone in the schools in these neighbourhoods, this is the system usually used.

All americans should be aware of the fact that this is happening in their country.

I think Miles looks uninterested because he gets to go but his friends don't. He doesn't care because he hasn't earned it any more than the other kids

@madking14 u got to be an ignorant son of a b!tch. U do notlive in a bubble get over it. Dont buy the comic but respect all human race. Dumb self rightous pricks. Its ultimate universe they can make a change if the mood suits

@ScionStorm

Come on really a raffle??? Give the writers more credit than that. This is what the do in inner city schools to give scholars ships away. Its very truthful and the artis dose a very good job on porting the emotions of people in these situations. All there hopes for an better education for their child in drop of a ball.

Nice to see that they are touching real life events.

@Mdking14
really???? are you that much of a child and stuck in the past so much that you can't see how ignorant you are for saying something like that?
marvelguy
marvelguy - 8/9/2011, 7:28 AM
Why did they kill Peter? Why didn't they create a new character that wouldn't be compared to the original?

It's all very silly.
CrashTest
CrashTest - 8/9/2011, 7:39 AM
@marvelguy

Naaah, they have done that before. This is comics remember, they want to sell books. What better way to do, than to kill an iconic hero. Take Supermans Death.

Remember all publicity is good publicity, so even if all these haters out there, some who sound very racist, do talk shit about it. Its only bringing more attention to the comic, which means Marvels plan is working. Starting controversy and discussions, bring out peoples feelings and disagreements. Social change, this is what good writers and artist do.

Well played Marvel, well played.

Not a fan of the Ultimates line so I don't think I'll be picking this up. I've read through different Ultimates comics but never was able to get into the story.
CaptainTall
CaptainTall - 8/9/2011, 8:10 AM
Funny concept. You know whats funnier? Bendis doesn't even think the Ultimates is an alternate universe.
RadicalDuck
RadicalDuck - 8/9/2011, 8:12 AM
I'm all for diversity but I don't know really how to respond to this. It's too much of a steep change- seriously the whole way in which he was killed to then be replaced? It just tells us its a major publicity stunt. If I was Bendis, I'd have created a new line with the new Spider-Man or something. It just seems like they are changing him for the sake of it.

I highly doubt now from looking at these pics of the issue that they are going to make him gay. Hes like 12 or 13 years old.

Lovin' it! The art is awesome, the diversity is great and finaly a passing of the torch that is well done. Haven't seen that since Batman Beyond. I hated Battle for the Cowl.

@AlSimmons- good question, maybe there'll explain that

Sara Pichelli has somehow gotten 100 times better since his original work on Ult. Spidey.
Shaman
Shaman - 8/9/2011, 9:18 AM
SecretApprentice71- Face wise, i would have said you were right. But height wise, he's as tall as his father's shoulder. So it's either he's 7 and his father's a midget, or he's 13 only he looks way younger. Then again, i don't recall just how young i looked like when i was 13. Pichelli might be spot on for all we know. It will be interesting to see what he'll do at that age, being someone with a curfew of 8pm and shit. Fight crime for 20 minutes, right between homework and dinner?
