Commitment To STAR TREK 3 Forces Roberto Orci To Depart POWER RANGERS Reboot

Depending on whether or not you're a fan of movies like Transformers and The Amazing Spider-Man 2, the news that Star Trek 3 director Robero Orci is too busy to get his hands on the Power Rangers reboot will either be welcomed or very disappointing. Read on for details!

According to Deadline, Roberto Orci has been forced to drop out of the Power Rangers reboot due to his commitments to Paramount Pictures' third instalment in the Star Trek franchise (J.J. Abrams isn't back in the director's chair for that one due to his own scheduling conflict caused by working on Star Wars Episode VII). However, while he will no longer produce the movie, THOR contributors Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz are still writing a script based on his story idea as was previously announced. This take on Power Rangers is a modern reinvention of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, a group of ordinary high school kids who find themselves infused with extraterrestrial powers and must harness those powers as a team to save the world. It's currently set to be released on July 22nd, 2016. No director or cast have been attached as of yet.

@CookieKid247

Nah, I care way more for a Power Rangers movie, since It was a big part of my childhood. The 80's kids might think you're weird....but they grew up on turd shows also.

I do believe with the right vision, Hollywood might be able to make a pretty good PR movie.

Well I for one like this news. I wonder who will produce it and direct the Power Rangers movie. Even if you hate the PR series you have to know there's great material to use to make a great film. So I for one am hopeful that the movie will be good.

@marvel72, I was absolutely 200% obsessed with Power Rangers as a kid (not that I'm not a kid still) but now that I've slightly matured its become more of a joke to me than anything else. But yes, it was much easier to enjoy and fall in love with as a kid.

@0megaDaGod If Michael Bay directs Power Rangers all my faith in humanity is lost. He can have the cartoon I didn't watch with Transformers...

They should hire a director first. Directors more often then nottoss a script in favor of their own team

it has already been rebooted. the first movie that used the same cast was totally new and had nothing to do with the show.

turbo the 2nd movie was canon to the show.

The movie will be better off without him. If you were already doing Star Trek 3, why bother signing on to produce this movie?

@GodzillaKart I'm too invested in the franchise, hah. Johnny Socko would be great! If done right. There are so many great Japanese shows to be developed. To me the success of Power Rangers opened up that possibility.
