Jessica Chastain In Talks To Join The Cast Of IRON MAN 3

Marvel Studios has reportedly been meeting with the likes of Diane Kruger, Gemma Arterton and Isla Fisher, but Jessica Chastain is now front runner for a starring role in Iron Man 3. Hit the jump for details.

Deadline reveal that Take Shelter star Jessica Chastain is the frontrunner for a role in the third instalment of Marvel Studios' Iron Man franchise. While it initially appeared that scheduling conflicts would make her unavailable (hence why they have been meeting with the actresses listed above) it now appears that she may in fact be able to play a character who the site describes as, "a sexy scientist every bit as smart as Tony Stark." Fans of "Extremis" will know that this is more than likely Maya Hansen, an old flame of Tony's who plays a pivotal role in the storyline which Shane Black's movie so far appears to be based upon.

i've seen her in the help & tree of life good actress but i didn't really like those movies.

iron man 3 is shaping up to having a blinding cast.

... in that it has a plot without armored enemies, took its time to write a script before casting, didn't have pay disputes with its actors, has a different director and different writers, and isn't expected to tie or lead into any other Marvel productions?

@Bgg175 No, you just need to watch more movies.

All very good actresses, Chastain is prob the best of them..but if the role is supposed to be part eye candy, well, has top be Arterton.

They'd better not give him armor that comes out of his skin, It's fine for the comics but seriously, it won't work. Maybe it will but it will still mean Iron Man will never be able to update his armor

I didn't read the actual Extremis comics, but I did watch all the episodes of the motion comic(best one so far).

If this casting is in fact for Maya Hansen, I think Diane Kruger would have been the best choice.

The character is very important to the storyline.

This IS leading into other marvel productions. I meant it looked like IM2 by all these characters being casted. We don't know if it has armored characters. But otherwise point well disputed

This film is going to be amazing. Maybe better than The Avengers. And with 'Phase One: The Initiative' out of the way, we can back to the Tony Stark we fell in "fanboy-love" with-- from 'Iron Man'. The story of karma and of a man of sin, returns.
