EXCLUSIVE: Barry Sonnenfeld Comments On MEN IN BLACK 3 Deleted Scenes

So, should we expect a plethora of deleted scenes in the Men in Black 3 DVD/Blu-ray release? Hit the jump to find out what director Barry Sonnenfeld had to say in this excerpt from our interview with him.

Featurettes and audio commentaries are all well and good, but if there's one thing that movie lovers now like to keep an eye out for when the DVD/Blu-ray is released, it's deleted scenes. Sometimes they're pointless, and other times, it's hard to understand why on Earth they weren't included in the final cut. Men in Black 3 moves along very briskly, and while it doesn't exactly feel as if there's anything missing, I couldn't help but ask director Barry Sonnenfeld whether or not we should expect any extra scenes when the film is made available on disc.

"There were very few scenes that didn't make the cut. Most of the stuff we cut out, we cut out at script stage. There are a few little scenes, but nothing that's hugely different."

With something of an unorthodox production (work on Men in Black 3 was halted at the halfway point so that they could finish work on the script) it's perhaps not all that surprising that there wasn't a lot of footage which ended up on the cutting room floor. The rest of my interview with the director will be on CBM this time tomorrow, and in it he talks about everything from the 3D effects to casting Josh Brolin as a young Agent K and much, much more. Are you planning on checking out Men in Black 3 this Friday? Be sure to check out my 4* review of the threequel by clicking HERE.

@MrCool210 It's actually not unusual at all for scenes to be cut from a script in preproduction. Most studio movies go through dozens of rewrites and cuts before a single scene is shot.

I've just seen the movie, and worry not, it's good - pretty great in fact, I'd say! It's funny (sometimes cheesy, though), touching in places, well-acted, and a great fun overall.
