This is sooooooo fcukin unnecessary!!!! There was barely enough in that book for 1 movie, let alone two...

....besides that, only the 1st one was any good.

guess from here on out any films based on a franchise of books/novels, we should expect the last film to be split into a two parter...

@darkjoker1...seriously, they saw how it worked for Potter and figured it would make big numbers for their films, well heres the joke on them...THEY ARE NOT HARRY POTTER :D

I haven't read Mockingjay yet, but is there really enough material in that book to cover two movies? Harry Potter, I understood. Twilight did it to simply make more money and it backfired creatively. So is this really necessary?

I just loved the first movie, it was actually better than the first book of the series.
But the books are also good, especially book 3.

Still... if you ask me, this is unnecessary. The book is 380 pages, it doesn't need two movies.

I am a big fan of the hunger games (mainly the first one) and i am enjoying mockingjay so far (i think im on chapter 7) i can understand why they split harry potter and breaking dawn. But srsly the hunger games? Its like just over 300 pages from what i see and yes people did complain the last book was rushed but there is no need! Idk if liongates knows this but wasn't mockingjay every hunger games fan (well most) least favourite book? (I mean apart from me anyway) i doubt they wantto see two movies of it. Jesus i was actually hoping hunger games would avoid being like the other franchises (even though its just spliting the last book in two) GODDAMMIT!

If anything, Catching Fire should have been the movie split into two parts.

Even if Hunger Games is any good its only selling point is completely ripped off from Battle Royale, I'm genuinely surprised more wasn't made of this and there wasn't a lawsuit :(

Wow, it's all about money, NOTHING HAPPENS in this last one, they stay hidden the whole time and and then run out on missions throughout the whole book. Unless the switch and change around a whole bunch of the story this sucks

Why does every last movie in a franchise nowadays have to be split into two movies? I can't think of any other reason than money.

I really enjoyed The Hunger Games book and the movie was about 90% identical to it. It's a great alternative to Twilight if nothing else.

I'm reluctant to point out that this was actually expected, and the reasons are actually some extremely valid ones.

Lionsgate LOVES to split movies up for one - just look at the Saw movies. Secondly, Mockingjay is the worst of the three, starting with some promise, but abandoning everything at the end - it has one of the worst endings I have ever read. Rather than have critics pan the movie for its ending, cut it into two movies so that the first part is not only successful and appropriate, but garners critical acclaim. The second part is going to be hated, but because it covers so much ground (and only from Katniss' perspective, so there's actually about three times as much to film, they can highlight the good parts to attempt to outshine the nasty ones.

I imagine that part one will end with District 13 getting unsuccessfully bombed by the Capitol.

I approve.

I read all 3 books and Mockingjay to my opinion is the second best book with the hunger games being the best of the three.

So for all of those hating on it i would like to know what sucked about the Mockingjay?, not including the ending.

The crybaby angst gets EXTREMELY annoying half-way through to the point where Katniss really leaves the likeable character territory. Also, the character death, how they are so sudden, so pointless, and so loosely described - you have to read those bits twice just to confirm them.

I think she drafted it out, had all the ideas in place, but was rushed to get it to completion.

@ToDandy

How do you expect a 17 year-old react to seeing one of the few people she loves get captured and knowing that he is being tortured, also the fact that she has seen for two straight years those around her get killed such as Rue, and Cinna; as for Peeta i felt that it was a great change from the always stand by your side loving Peeta that you read in the first two books.

and just because it's part of the Hunger Games trilogy doesn't mean it has to have the hunger games in it, nowhere in the title dose it imply that it is going to revolve around the hunger games; it revolves around something bigger than that.

you just didn't like the fact that she was just a pawn in the war and not the king on the board, and when she finally dose something on her own and it falls apart like a normal plan would if you don't follow orders.

As for the epilogue, it wasn't the greatest.
