Noomi Rapace Offers A Vague Update On The Status Of Ridley Scott's PROMETHEUS Sequel

Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender were the only two Prometheus cast members to make it as far as the end credits, so it stands to reason that they must have some sort of idea as to the status of the sequel, right? Hit the jump for an update from the former.

Prometheus was mostly well-received with critics and audiences alike, while it certainly did well enough at the box office to justify a sequel. So, why have we still not heard anything concrete from 20th Century Fox? Well, talking to The Playlist recently, Noomi Rapace (Elizabeth Shaw) wasn't able to provide anything particularly definitive, but did have this to say about returning for a follow-up. "They're working on the script. I met Ridley in London a couple of weeks ago. I would love to work with him again and I know that he would like to do another one. It's just like we need to find the right story. I hope we will." Unsurprisingly, the actress wasn't able to provide any details as to who is working on the screenplay - Damon Lindelof has already confirmed that he won't be back - but still managed to give an idea of the themes we should expect to see explored in the sequel. "Some people who see the movie many times and discover new things. There are all these religious aspects and there are very interesting conversations. And for me, if we do a second one, there are a lot of things to explore in there and to continue."

Ya, here's a hint...it's either gonna suck, or it's not gonna happen. Maybe we'll see ALIEN 5 someday...

Thought the first one was good also. Though I expected more from it. The thing is, I don't know what I expected...I just expected...more. :I

If the criticism of this movie did anything it proved they better have their A game together on the SQL.

one's things for sure the sequel needs some good characterisation, prometheus really lacked that. Characters were all bland and undeveloped apart from the main two. Dont know how they'll do this movie, plot wise. Cant just have the only human characters being shaw and David with aliens for a two hour film. There will have to be more. It will be a tough task to do so without making it seem repetitive

Great film. And of course all the people that don't like the movie give Prometheus articles their full attention.....curious.

The first movie was enjoyable but also forgetable. The visuals were amazing though. That is the main reason to watch this.

Thank the Engineers, they [frick]ing killed off those dumb ass characters. Hope they go all out with xenomorphs(?), and develop a plot that isn't logically pointless.

The movie was good, just the characters were so stupid. So just improve on that for the sequel.
But YES I want a sequel

I wonder what they will do. The way they ended it it will be pretty tough to come up with a sequal though I have a few ideas.

@supero, i agree. i think a dark, mystery, adventure, cosmic story is the best way to go for an FF movie.

"Just have to find the right story" So they made a first movie - while telling everyone they had plans for two - made the whole thing a (pointless) mystery ending in a promised sequel...without a story set? Well. Done.

Bring on the sequel! YES, I loved the first movie and felt it really fit into the whole Alien mythology perfectly. Do they need to expand further? Yes! Get on it Riddley!!

PEOPLE WERE LOOKING FOR ALIENS IN A MOVIE THAT WASN'T FOCUSED ON ALIENS AND BECAUSE THEY DIDNT GET IT IT DIDN'T MAKE SENSE.

Film was severely hit and miss and relied on the audience not questioning every little detail, like how they got lost in the first place, or why it mattered if he was her dad.

Still the 3rd best Alien film made and the next one will be Lindelof-less. Good news!

After watching the "making of" doc.., Ridley seemed to be notating Lindelof's script like a disappointed professor who expected more from a particular student. Scott really holds to the traditional, respectful british school of filmmaking.., so I have a feeling.., well plus he's too old to fight like he did back in '78 and '81, that he wasn't going to express certain things about the film's outcome.
