While it was originally set to be released on October 4th, 2013, the new release date for Sin City: A Dame to Kill For is August 22nd, 2014. No reason has been given for the delay. The sequel to 2005's Sin City weaves together two of Frank Miller's classic stories with new tales in which the town’s most hard boiled citizens cross paths with some of its more repulsive inhabitants. Directed by Miller and Robert Rodriguez, the impressive cast includes Eva Green, Jessica Alba, Mickey Rourke, Josh Brolin, Bruce Willis, Rosario Dawson, Jaime King and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

@11TheQuestion11

Don't be so sure about that. It's been 8 years since the last Sin City movie. It's not a good idea to wait that long before releasing a sequel. Plus, the first one only made about 150 million when it was released. Moderately successful first film + extremely long wait before releasing the sequel = a mediocre success. A prime example of is Star Trek Into Darkness.

Also, X-Men will have a few weeks of playability before Guardians is released, so I'm not worried about that movie.

@TheAbomination - Lets get the facts a bit more straight.

Sin City made nearly $160 million worldwide which may not sound like much but it was an R rated flick and only cost $40 million to make. Essentially it made back nearly 4 times its budget which is why it was a huge success as well as selling quite a bit of merchandise for an R rated flick. It was also very much celebrated at the Cannes film festival winning a lot of critical acclaim.

Star Trek in comparison only got acclaim in the USA, it cost $150 million to make and only made $385 million worldwide, not great numbers but like the older films the money the studio makes from movies that perform so bad are from the merchandise sales which it sold lots of hence no speedy sequel to capitalize on the non existent healthy box office. The 2nd movie cost more and is doing only moderately better for it, actually performing worst in the USA and slightly better internationally but still way low for a movie with a huge budget.
