Kevin Feige Talks THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON; Teases Loki's Future In The Franchise

Reiterating that The Avengers: Age of Ultron shares only its name with the comic book series and nothing more, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige hints at Tony Stark being the creator of the "formidable" villain and hints that Loki is here to stay despite not appearing in The Avengers sequel.

In the following video interview with Kevin Feige at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, Empire Online quizzed the Marvel Studios President on The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy. In regards to Joss Whedon's sequel to The Avengers, and the title it shares with a critically panned comic book series, he said: "We came up with a few titles, but every month a new comic book appeared, and that's a great title. Age Of Ultron is a great title. We had a few other 'Of Ultrons', but that was the best one. So we're borrowing that title, but taking storylines from decades of Avengers storylines." Feige would also refuse to confirm or deny whether or not Loki will make an appearance in the sequel, he did say that Marvel have a lot of faith in the villain moving forward. Be sure to watch the full nine minute interview below as there's plenty of talk about all of the movies listed above, not to mention Thanos and his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

IM3 was a horrible kick-off to Phase 2.

I'm fairly confident that T:TDW and CA:WS will provide a course correction for Phase 2.

And I doubted Joss before, won't happen again lol : )
TheMexicanSuperman - 7/24/2013, 6:43 AM
I'm tired of that weak @$$ Loki, bring back Red Skull.
xcrementus - 7/24/2013, 6:47 AM
so weird, everybody i know loves IM3. and saw it multiple times. So much to love about it.
Deadpoolwithcomicsans - 7/24/2013, 6:47 AM
You know it's weird

It used to be that FOX were the money grabbing bastards and MARVEL studios were the perfect little angels.

That seems to have changed when Iron Man 3 came out.

And honestly, I'm a little cautious of both studios.

Joss wasn't the reason Avengers 1 was so good, he was a great director for it, but it was the fact that it stayed true to the source material and what made the characters great.

And FOX still has to prove that they are ready to stay true to what made X-men great.
BANEofExistence - 7/24/2013, 6:48 AM

Deadpoolwithcomicsans - 7/24/2013, 6:48 AM
Only 2014 and 2015 will tell us if these movies are good.
CoulsonLives - 7/24/2013, 6:48 AM
@MexicanSupes
That's what you're tired of? I'm tired of Marvel treating Hank Pym like crap.
Here are the people Marvel doesn't care about.
Spider-Man
Ant-Man
Captain America
Black Panther
Hawkeye
TheSonicScrew - 7/24/2013, 6:50 AM
IM3 was a wonderful kick-off to Phase 2!

Hope the rest of the films are as good and I think they will be :D
Darkknight23 - 7/24/2013, 6:50 AM
Kevin Feige + Joss Whedon + Marvel = FORCE OF NATURE!!! Marvel wins!!
Greengo - 7/24/2013, 6:51 AM
"so weird, everybody i know loves IM3. and saw it multiple times" ~excrementus

Yup... that is pretty weird.
MrNiklander - 7/24/2013, 6:51 AM
I dont have doubts about AGE OF ULTRON as long as the story is good yes IM3 really was horrible but like Greengo said T:TDW and CA:TWS will rock.Bring them on CA:WS THOR:TDW,GOTG,XMEN:DOFP WORLDS FINEST AVENGERS:AGE OF ULTRON. Comic book movies have gone the next level screw the narrowminded fans who want to ruin the comicbookmovies you love and cant support both sides.MOS was an equal movie to The Avengers and I am sure that WORLDS FINEST AND AGE OF ULTRON will be both story wise and visually awesome.If you dont like it Gandalf the Grey says this
Havensent - 7/24/2013, 6:52 AM
Anyone and I do mean anyone trying to claim IM3 was "horrible", "bad" or whatever negative you could come up with has a useless opinion and is null and void.
Deadpoolwithcomicsans - 7/24/2013, 6:52 AM
Another annoying thing about MARVEL studios?

All of these rumors about Spidey in the Avengers 2, and instead of at least addressing the issue, MARVEL pretends the rumors don't exist.

If he's not in there, then just gosh darn tell us!
CoulsonLives - 7/24/2013, 6:53 AM
It's Iron Man... It's always Iron Man... Captain America is the true leader yet they keep making him second fiddle to a man who built a suit in a cave with a bunch of scraps...
Darkknight23 - 7/24/2013, 6:54 AM
IM3 was the most awesome movie of the year!!! it was groundbreaking! The EFX were spectacular. The story was rock solid!!!! The comedy was on point. And it had the greatest villians of ALL TIME!
CoulsonLives - 7/24/2013, 6:56 AM
@Deadpoolwithcomicsans
Exactly! Marvel, stop it with this "Secrecy" BS. I want you to confirm if Spidey is there or not! If he isn't... You are missing an opportunity of bringing the World's most beloved superhero in the universe... Plus, more MONEH!
CoulsonLives - 7/24/2013, 6:57 AM
@Allmarveleverything
It was like that... Until the Tony Stark removed his arc reactor... LIKE MAGIC!!!
MrMartinMarvel - 7/24/2013, 6:57 AM
@Allmarveleverything Did you hit your head or something?
MrNiklander - 7/24/2013, 6:58 AM
@excrementus yeah sure I remember when I first saw IM3 at the theaters most guys were like NOTHING NEW LAME MANDARIN GOT [frick]ED SO WE CAN DEAL WITH RDJ lame jokes and predictable political thriller movie.IT'S A SUPERHERO MOVIE.Iron Man fights aliens,hungry power dudes who dont want to rule USA but the whole world and seriously dude IM3 brought nothing new to the table which it should have considering the hype the movie got after AVENGERS but MARVEL played it safe for
AlibiBreakfast - 7/24/2013, 6:58 AM
The big news from this interview is that Feige says in the Avengers 2 teaser Ultron's head was being fashioned from an Iron Man mask.
MarkV - 7/24/2013, 7:00 AM
Jumping in and out of the iron man suits at the end

president in Iron Patriot suit

Pepper saves the day Dues Ex Machina style

repeated crotch shots from self assembling armor

super lame back story about being jilted on the roof

creating a fake terrorist to explain medical subjects dying

SO LAME!!!! Iron Man 3 was so damn full of stupid bullshit!
CoulsonLives - 7/24/2013, 7:00 AM
It's sad that Ultron is the only thing Hank still has... That's what makes him unique!
dmm5 - 7/24/2013, 7:01 AM
These Iron Man 3 fans are [frick]ing idiots, I swear...
MrNiklander - 7/24/2013, 7:01 AM
BECAUSE SELLING THE SAME CRAP OVER OVER ALWAYS WORKS IM3 UNFORTUNATELY PROVED IT.
kadetra - 7/24/2013, 7:01 AM
When i think of horrible CBMs fantastic 4,Punisher, Elektra and Cat-woman comes into my mind.
TheMexicanSuperman - 7/24/2013, 7:02 AM
@ CoulsonLives, I was talking about villains, and yea I agree with that Hank Pym is being mistreated.
MrMartinMarvel - 7/24/2013, 7:02 AM
@dmm5 So I'm an idiot for enjoying a movie?
CoulsonLives - 7/24/2013, 7:03 AM
Dear Marvel, how do you expect Ant-Man to make more money?
Also, please make Tony Stark a secondary character... Back in 2007 no one gave a damn about Iron Man... And now that Marvel mad him famous, they will never let go! If you want us fans to be happy... Be like Marc Webb and listen! >:(
kadetra - 7/24/2013, 7:03 AM
It hasn't been confirmed yet about tony stark creating ultron.
MrMartinMarvel - 7/24/2013, 7:04 AM
Whatever, after Thor comes out everything will go back to normal.
CoulsonLives - 7/24/2013, 7:07 AM
Someone photoshop Hank Pym as Batman, and Iron Man as Robin... You know, that picture of Batman slapping Robin... PHOTOSHOP IT! Iron Man really deserves the smack.
CoulsonLives - 7/24/2013, 7:09 AM
@LEVITIKUZ
Takes one to know one... I'm just so tired of Iron Man being the main focus of everything! Same thing with DC. Batman is always the main focus due to their popularity and being billionaire, playboy, philanthropists. JUST STOP IT! I want others to get a chance at being famous!
Deadpoolwithcomicsans - 7/24/2013, 7:10 AM
@LEVITIKUZ

I'm not going to call you any names, in fact, I look up to you as one of my favorite CBM users, but please, don't call me a bitch for having an opinion.
MrMartinMarvel - 7/24/2013, 7:11 AM
@kadetra Exactly, after Whedon said Pym wouldn't be involved in the creation of Ultron everyone got all bitchy and assumed Tony would build him. Of course I would prefer if Pym built him, but it's not the worst change you can make. i.e Trevor.
CoulsonLives - 7/24/2013, 7:11 AM
@kadetra
With the Mandarin being a phony... I expect that to be a reality... But I will give Marvel a benefit of a doubt.
CoulsonLives - 7/24/2013, 7:12 AM
Pym really doesn't deserve all of the baggage marvel has given him... Pym finally got his act straight and yet... People still think he's a wife abusing jerk.
TheWolverine08 - 7/24/2013, 7:13 AM
Can't wait for Thor: Dark World, Captain America: Winter Solider, and Avengers 2! Those should make up for Iron Man 3.
oldschoolavenger98 - 7/24/2013, 7:13 AM
Iron Man 3 was a fantastic movie. I loved the hell out of it. It's bold, new, and fresh. It's worlds beyond IM2 (which wasn't that bad) and even a little better than IM1 (yeah, I just said that). All you butthurt Mandarin fans need to get over the twist. It was a brilliant twist. I was upset with it at first, but I eventually warmed up to it. Now I love it. And as for the Joker/Mandarin comparisons. I'm sorry, but the Mandarin ain't got shit on the Joker. So let's not even go there. And they told us they were going to be taking risks with phase 2. They warned us.
dmm5 - 7/24/2013, 7:13 AM
MrMartinMarvel- For enjoying Iron Man 3? Yes, you are :]
CoulsonLives - 7/24/2013, 7:14 AM
@LEVITIKUZ
Actually Watchmen is 90% accurate. But that still counts.
