Marvel Studios Producer Hints At CAPTAIN MARVEL Movie But Says "It's Hard"

Marvel Studios executive producer and Agent Carter director Louis D'Esposito shares his thoughts on the possibility of a superhero movie with a female lead, but describes it as a challenge due to their already busy upcoming slate and two films a year plan. Hit the jump for details!

The idea of a superhero movie with a lead female character is obviously something which has been discussed at Marvel as director and producer Louis D'Esposito has once again spoken out about the possibility of a character like Captain Marvel getting her own big screen outing. "There's obviously a drumbeat that is banging louder and louder that we want a female lead superhero. We have strong female characters in our films from Black Widow to Pepper Potts to Peggy Carter and you never know. Maybe there's an offshoot film with one of them. Or Captain Marvel, you know?" However, it sounds as if the studio already know which movies will be filling their 2016 slots and Captain Marvel won't be one of them! They also don't seem particularly keen on adding third film to their two a year routine. "It's hard because we have a small group at Marvel. We do two films a year. To get those two films done and to do them right takes a lot of work and manpower. And female-power, obviously. To add a third film and to just put it in the slate right now is difficult. We have these next three, four, five films coming out and that's what we're really concentrating on." What do you guys think? Sound off below!

Ms.Marvel(Capt. Marvel now) is fine if we are looking to go for a female lead. How about She-Hulk in a Hulk Sequel w/ The Leader. Jessica Drew would be cool too...but id work with Sony just to promote some good will...

Marvel...you're doing a movie that costars a talking raccoon with a machine gun, Ms. Marvel should be easy by comparison

Eh, I dunno. I'd rather get a Namor or Silver Surfer movie first but Marvel doesn't have the rights.

I was expecting Louis D'Esposito to say something dumb again(this is the same guy that said bringing Wakanda in BP on the big screen would be "difficult") but what he says here makes since.

I'd love a Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) film. She has the potential to be Marvel's Wonder Woman. Some would argue she already is. I just think she could rival Wonder Wonan's popularity if Marvel played their cards right.

Marvel already has a script for a Captain Marvel movie. If she gets a movie before Wonder Woman, then [frick] you WB.

I love how Marvel fans assume we are getting a Ms Marvel film.

Kind of like how you guys assumed we were getting Black Panther but instead we get a movie with a talking tree that says 3 words and a talking raccoon.

Hell if Flash show is canon to the DCCU, we have Flash before both Quicksilvers.

I think that since James Gunn made it a point to mention 'The Kree' this week, Marvel's gonna wait to see how the ratings for Agents Of Shield do....if it's a huge hit and renewed for a second season (Fall 2014-Spring 2015), that'd be the perfect time to introduce Carol Danvers through the show, establish her character and work on getting her shizznit on the screen @2017. At least I HOPE that scenario plays out!

I'm honestly still surprised that she isn't being added in Avengers 2. I thought she would be the next to be added instead of scarlet witch and quicksilver. I think she will show up one way or another down the line for sure though. I would like to see her in the 3rd avengers for sure if she doesn't get a solo flick, which I think sounds somewhat unlikely at this point.

I like to take jabs at DC/WB for not making a WW movie but I know it's not easy for any studio to tackle a female lead CBM. I actually don't think the issue is with the content, the issue is with the fanbase. If someone can solve the riddle of making a female lead CBM appeal to the masses and ignore the misogynistic needs of the male dominated comic fanbase, that person is going to open the floodgates.

Oh they hear the outcry for a female superhero, but I guess they turn a deaf ear to the cry that people are letting out for a non white superhero. I guess Kevin Feige will just keep hiding behind the lie that creating Wakanda is just too hard when Marvel has had Asgard created and even remodeled.
