Quicksilver Replaced A Young Juggernaut In X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Scenes

When it was revealed that Quicksilver had been added to the cast of X-Men: Days of Future Past, the response was mixed to say the least. Bryan Singer and Simon Kinberg comment on that here, while Evan Peters reveals that the relationship between Magneto and the speedster WILL be alluded to!

"Quicksilver was always in our script," claims Bryan Singer in a recent interview with Empire Magazine when asked if his late addition to the movie was in response to Joss Whedon casting Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the role. "Marvel were informed early on that I was using him. The way it'll play out in our movie versus what I believe they are going to do is so different. And this is not an enormous role - he's only on one beat of the movie." That "one beat" is described by the magazine as taking place in the kitchen of the Pentagon in 1973, and it sees Quicksilver help Charles Xavier and Wolverine break in to break out Magneto. As a guard heads down in a lift to feed the prisoner, he's surprised to see the mutant suddenly appear in the corner of the elevator, smirking nonchalantly. However, they go on to reveal that "Kinberg had originally employed a young Juggernaut in the same function," making it unclear whether he was replaced by Quicksilver early on in the writing process or after Marvel's announcement. Regardless, according to Evan Peters, this movie will do what The Avengers: Age of Ultron can't; address his lineage. "Everybody's so slow to him, it gives him an attitude. He's a little impatient. When [Magneto and Quicksilver] first meet, there's a cool, "Do I know you? moment."

Of course Marvel were informed early on... Heck I bet both studios know what each others version looks like. However, before the haters come in and say "Yeah that'll shut the Marvelites up...", you'll never know if MS had Quicksilver on their radar beforehand as well. It's too suspicious.

Something tells me Joss won't have a hard time one-upping Singer's Quicksilver.

Well at least Quicksilver will be Magneto's son. But I have a bad feeling that he's going to die, which wouldn also screw continuity because he was in X-Men Origins which takes place after Days of Future Past. We get the Magneto's son version of Quicksilver in this and the badass, superiority-complex Quicksilver in Age of Ultron which fits fine because really there have always been two completely different characters within each of the Maximoff twins. The Avengers side and the Brotherhood side.

I would have preferred if they used Juggernaut since he and Xavier are stepbrothers. Xavier even mentioned his stepfather in the last movie.

@Kurne

Seriously?! To me Fox has all the needs and rights to access Quicksilver without a doubt. I don't care how much better Whedon's Quicksilver will possibly be. Seeing that Singer already had plans to make a X4 film tied into an X5 film aka (Days of Future Past and Apocalypse) after X3 was released and ALSO seeing that the Apocalypse film will be based on the Age of Apocalypse story arc why is it so hard for anyone to rationalize the simple thought that Days of Future past would use quicksilver a character to be introduced before the Apocalypse movie? This way the character won't just be slapped in the movie, he's appearing in this movie which will obviously set up his character's BIGGER role for the next.

I would have rather had a PROPER Juggernaut bang his way into the prison and bak Magneto out instead having the Pokémon trainer in there to spite Marvel and Whedon.

@TheBlackNerd "Early on.." means sometime before now..you dont really beleive corporate hacks do u? Or are you just buying his because you are a solid defender and clearly anyone with common sense (you always seem to have some) can clearly see wtf happened here..This was a cheap shot from fox..and it was more important to the FOX executive to give marvel the finger then actually give us a good character.

I have no idea how anyone can support these assclowns..

Dude Fox has the rights to use Quicksilver whenever they want, but I'm just saying that the way everything turned out (announcements, castings...) was ridiculous on both Marvel's and Fox's part. It's Joss' fault for leading people on first and it's Fox's fault for making their announcement midway through filming AFTER Whedon's announcement.

Finally Singer speaks about Quicksilvers inclussion.

the haters thinking it was a move to Marvel is have the answer finally. No way a studio adds a character on a script, makes some casting auditions and sign the actor in a matter of a few weeks, and only because another studio/director says they want to use him.

And Singer said back in 2011 he wanted to use Pietro on First Class, but wasnt possible by that time.

So accept it, guys. Its not a f*** move. Both directors love the character and wanted to use him. Plain and simple

Are we really supposed to believe this?

"We were gunna use Juggernaut but changed our minds for no reason and decided to use Quicksilver before Marvel said they were using him. First! And we can do what they can't. We can allude to a parental relationship. Ha! Marvel can't allude to anything."
TheRationalNerd

@Kurne

I can see exactly where you're coming from my brother but honestly seeing that Singer presented an interview in "February 2013" with how he planned to help make Fox's X-Men universe just as big as Marvel/Disney's who's to say that he already had plans of introducing the character of Quicksilver.

Here's one thing I can see what you're saying. "If Singer planned on using Quicksilver all along why wait until AFTER Whedon announced the character for Avengers 2." Although I'm not Singer or seeing that I don't know exactly why he decided to take this action I cannot speak on those terms.

But if you were to ask me for my strongest assumption I would say to eliviate the confusion audiences and fans would get from the character. I believe it said something like "Before he was an avenger he was a fast kid!" Or something like that right? I didn't look at it like an F You to Marvel it was more of a way to say "although this is who he becomes in the future this is who he was in the past" sort of gig. But I mean to each his own, but that's jut at how I personally saw it.
