Here Is Your Spider-Man 4 Rumor Rundown!

The good folks at UGO.com have compiled a list of what is fact and fiction for the wall crawlers 4th outing.

I love rumor rundowns. You get to read what is really going on and then you also get to see what is complete BS. Many thanks to UGO for providing the info for this installment of "Jman's Rumor Rundown"!

"Confirmed:

Spider-Man 4 will begin shooting in March 2010 with Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst signed on to star. (MTV)

It will be released on May 5, 2011 in theaters and IMAX. (Comingsoon.net)

The first draft of the script was written by James Vanderbilt (Zodiac) and rewritten by Pulitzer winner David Lindsay-Abaire (Robots). A new draft will be written by Gary Ross (Seabiscuit, Pleasantville). (IGN)

James Vanderbilt has also been hired to pen a Spidey 5 & 6. (MTV)

Raimi is planning a smaller, intimate movie using skills and sensibilities he picked up on Drag Me to Hell. This means less villains then Spider-Man 3. (Coventry Telegraph)

Producer Todd Black says the villain will be "a big part of New York" and that he/she will be one of the bad guys from the comics, not an original for the film. (NY Post)

J.K. Simmons will return as J. Jonah Jameson. (MTV)

Dylan Baker will return as Dr. Curt Connors, who many know as the alter-ego of Spidey villain The Lizard.

Rumor:

Could Carnage end up in Spider-Man 4? Or maybe he'll make an appearance in Venom or his own movie? (MTV)

Bruce Campbell, who has appeared in all of Raimi's Spider-Man films, may play a "major role" in the next installment, who some speculate could be Mysterio. (Access Hollywood)

During a Q&A at Wizard World, actor Michael Papajohn, who played the mugger who kills Uncle Ben in the first film, said he would be reprising his role in the new installment. (Comingsoon.net)

Spider-Man 4 could tie into the writer/director Gary Ross' own Venom movie. (MTV)

The Lizard could end up being the movie's only villain. (Marketsaw)

Willem Dafoe has ideas on how he could return to the franchise, but hasn't gotten a call. (MTV)

Debunked:

And there you have it. Personally I think Raimi would be committing moviedom suicide if he does not use The Lizard. I mean come on? It would only make sense. The Dr. Curt Conner's character is ready to go. Slap your momma and let's bring it on!!!

	Two villains can work in a movie, it just has to make sense.The Lizard/Kraven combo is a perfect mix.Predator/Hunter.With Spider-Man in the middle.He wants to stops the Lizard, but at the same time he wants to prevent Kraven from killing him. 	ironknight, exactly. 	I think the Lizard would be alright but if the villian will "be a big part of NYC" then I doubt it would be Lizard. I'm not sure who he's refering to as the villian. I mainly blame Sony pictures for Spiderman 3 being mediocre. They pushed for Venom when in all honesty the story line with Venom could have been a movie all in itself. I think it would have been amazing with just Sandman and the new Goblin. I do understand why they made Harry Osbourne a villian. We need Kraven to hunt the lizard then you have your tie in, just like kenney said. 	I have no problem with two villains in one movie. That was the one facet of Spider-Man 3 that I liked. It had a "Marvel Team-Up" flavor to it that I thought was cool. 	I would love to see The Lizard as the main villian. I can think of a number of ways to really use The Lizard as the main antagonist. Lizard is waaaaay better villian than Electro. Besides, I think The Lizard, or rather his mutated DNA, can have implications for Spider-Man into the 5th film. 	i think spiderman 3 had way too many villians. The lizard could take an entire movie. But it would make more sense to add Kraven the hunter in there. Infact it makes more sense than having the 3 characters that they put together for the last movie. If they were going to do sandman they should of had hydroman thus making it for a predictable but easy way of making their collective defeat. I don't know why they had to have sandman as his uncles killer. It didn't fit. Plus there wasn't any true character developement for any of the characters except for Osbourne. 	@Josh - No offense...but there has never really been a good story with Electro as a character. I like him too, but the emotional story that accompanies the Lizard is much better. Yes, Electro did plug into the power grid once, but I'm not talking about stories in comics...I mean the urban legend of alligators in the sewers already exists here in the real world, therefore it's a big part of NY. 	I'm not sure that the Lizard alone would intrigue the general public. They probably haven't even paid much attention to his brief appearances to considered Dr. Conner's transformation epic. 	Okay, I have been waiting to post my opinion on the Spiderman 4 film for awhile. So here goes.... I am not thrilled with the Lizard or Kraven in the franchise, but if it can be presented in the hunter/predator concept I can live with that. Hey, I would even agree with Josh about Scorpion. There are alot of B and C-list villians to choose from, just don't care for most of them. Electro, Mysterio, Carnage, Tombstone, Kingpin, Vulture ehhhhh. Okay, now for the controversial statement- bring back Norman Osborne! Its been done how many times in the comic and now Norman is pretty much running the country. They can say he survived in seclusion due to the "goblin serum." Have him be the man behind the scenes of the main conflict- don't reveal him until the very end (or just the suggestion that he is still out there pulling strings). 	CDB: I have to disagree with you there - Id say that Lizard was much more of a minor villain in comparison to Electro or Scorpion! Scorpion is still around as the new Venom and Electro has been around a fair bit in recent comic books! I cant remember the last tim I saw Lizard apart from in Paul Jekins' crappy run on Spectacular Spider-Man! 	Lizard would be cool if they made him vaguely Jeckyl and Hyde-like, changing the character back and forth Peter trying to help save him but also having to fight him. 	i dont think the amount of villians makes or breaks the movie, its all about how they tie the story together. i would love to see the lizard being hunted by kraven or the scorpion. and i dont even consider black cat a "villian" so put her in it too!!!! spidey needs some sexiness in this movie and kirsten dunst aint it!!!!when all hell breaks loose that little piece of symbiote has to come in to play at some point. i thought scorpion (mac gargan) getting the symbiote makes perfect sense because TADA thats what happens in the comics. and then bring back norman osbourne to reveal hes been pulling the strings all along! it cant get any worse than SM3!!!! 	Definitely have to with Lizard as the villain. Carnage would also be cool, but he'd probably work better in the Venom movie (i still don't see how that movie's going to work). 	Lizard and Kraven. Best possible way for the movie to go IMO. Lizard brings emotional weight and depth to a movie, creating a tragic character who you feel sympathy for, making Spidey's conflict complex. Lizard also would lend the movie another moral lesson/value that the previous Spidey movies have encompassed in their overall theme/story. Not to mention he'd be a kick ass effect and would be a great fight to see. Kraven keeps things interesting, by shaking Spidey's conflict up, making Peter have to re-think his game-plan and giving the audience an obvious villain, since I don't like it when movies like this don't have a clear baddie. The film-makers could also give Kraven tons of creative traps (as seen in the Spider-Man games) and weapons to keep Spidey guessing and off Kraven's back. Just my 2 cents. 	Makiveli21: I havent been reading Hulk mainly because I hate Jeph Loeb and his poor writing (thats my opinion anyway, lol) I actually stopped reading Wolverine Origins after the Deadpool arc because I just got frustrated with the direction it was going - when the serie began I was hoping for the character origins from the very beginning rather than the mess its turned into! I did find the Romulus thing really intersting though so I'll catch up with the graphic novels! I buy pretty much every other Marvel title apart from ome of the X-Men books (I stick with just Uncanny and Astonishing) Invincible Iron Man, Amazing Spider-Man, Daredevil and Captain America: Reborn are the ones that Im hooked on most at the moment! :) joshw24 - 11/5/2009, 1:31 PM
	I thought it was so cool in the beginning of Wolverine Origins, when Logan gets his memories back and goes to the White House to get some answers and the Presidents security are like "sir, we have a problem... Logan got his memories back..." and the President is basically like "oh shit." The Deadpool arc was CLASSIC!!!! those two beat the hell out of each other for like 6 straight issues!!! But my favorite was when Wolvie took Sabretooths head off with the Murumasa Blade! and now Daken has the Blade grafted to his claws!!! I cant wait to see how the whole Romulous thing plays out. 	I think they should do a new villian just made for the movie. A villian names "Rosham Beau" all he does is kick people in the nuts with the help of a magical toe ring, much like the Green Lantern's ring but the only thing his special toe ring can do are things involving kicking somebody in the junk. I think it's a helluva idea. I'll play him I'm [frick]ing crazy like that. His real name is Beau Rosham and he's an evil scientist inventor guy who was rich but then lost all of his money and his best idea is the nut kicking machine that he made because he was bullied in high school. 	Comics in general these days are kicking ass There are just way too many titles to try and get them all some of the best right now in my opinion are Invincible Iron Man, Thor (although I dont know how the new creative team will do), Green Lantern (and the corps and blackest night in general blows my mind. Smoke a joint and read the prologue and the first issue of darkest night, it blew my mind), batman and robin, secret warriors, plus others, I think i buy too many now :S and I did pick up The List: Punisher mostly because it was written by Remender and the art of JRJR (who is my second favorite artist after the great Alex Ross) and it was CRAZY i dont read the new punisher monthly but after that Im definately gonna pick up the TP realfirstavenger - 11/5/2009, 1:54 PM

	to get back on topic of the Spider-Man movies, i just want to reiterate, KIRSTEN DUNST DOES NOTHING FOR ME. i open up a Spidey comic and see MJ and im like "damn shes hot" then i pop in the movie and shes just BLAH! i see hotter chicks in the clubs in my town. shes supposed to be a SUPERMODEL NOT A SINGER IN A CAFE!!!! Tobey Maguire bores the hell outta me too. he's a whiney little sissy and peter parker is supposed to be a quick witted smart mouth charming dork. it sucks that were stuck with these two because these movies could have been so great. Makiveli21: I never read the original Clone Sage but I've read all about it on Wikipedia, spiderfan.org etc and Im reading the Clone Saga mini series at the moment (not that impressed...the writing and art isnt that great) but the storyline in Amazing Spider-Man is pretty intersting, though I dont think its going to reveal any BIG suprises as such! 	Also since people will probably skim over this anyway, I created a group of heroes a few years back while I was high and at work. I called them Codename:GROSS (Group of Reformed Outlaws Serving Society) led by Dr. Peter Chiez (who projects large amounts of cotton fuzzies that accumulate in your weiner while wearing whitey tighties.), Thunder (from Aulstrailia who has a utility taint belt where he grabs weapons and throws them from his crotch.), I forget the rest probably with just due reason because it's [frick]ing retarded. 	you didnt read the clone saga?!?! the reinterpretation story that theyre telling now is WAY different. the thing people didnt like about the clone saga was that it was Ben who was the original and Pete was the clone. people were pissed that Pete and MJ moved to Portland (of all places) and Ben stayed in NY to be Spider-Man. But the way they spun it by bringing back Norman Osbourne from the dead to reveal he was pulling all the strings while hiding in Europe was AMAZING! havent you wondered how he came back or what happend to MJ being pregnant? "Revelations" was one of the greatest story arcs in the marvel universe ever. Pete comes back to NY and Norman shows up and tells him that he's the original and Bens the clone. Then Norman kills Ben the same way that he died (impaled by glider). and the book ends with MJ giving birth, but Norman switches the real baby with a dead one. so the clone saga sucked at first but if not for the clone saga Norman wouldnt have come back and the entire marvel universe as we know it would be completely different. 	The Lizard would be a great villain for Spidey 4, but not alone! There needs to be a second villain! Just having Spider-man deal with a primitive beast ain't enough! 2 villains is perfect! Having 3 villains in Spider-man 3 wasn't even a bad idea, but the story was! So, for SM4, a good pair of villains could be: 1. The Lizard and Morbius or 2. The Lizard and Electro or 3. The Lizard and Kraven Use Bruce Campbell as Scorpion for Spider-man 5! And Scorpion is a good enough villain with an interesting enough story to be the only villain in the movie! 	Here's an idea . Don't begin the introduction with the same old tired ass recap of the previous films but instead elude briefly to Brock/Venom being in different parts of the city and recovering from his wounds that he sustained due to the explosion at the end of Pt.3 and for fun have him roaming the city recovering his symbiote as if it were calling out to him since they are connected as one . Then start off with a bang !! A loud thunderous roar rangs out and echoes through the city shattering all the glass on every building in it's wake , show a city transportation bus go hurdling down the street in a ball of flames as a full scale Rhino and or Juggernaught stands in the midts of a giant heap of wreckage surrounded by smoke and fire calling out "Spiderman" !!! - as if it's a challenge . Have spidey swing into action and let the battle insue , of course spidey would be victorious but not until the brawl leaves him severely battered and bruised to the point where he barely hobbles away . Since they claim they're going "back to basics" , allow Peter Parkers healing time to shed light on the "Doc Conners scenario" allowing it to build toward a climax all the while introducing "Kraven" or "Doc Oc" re-emerging to for The Sinister Six" . Learn to leave room for cliffhangers , especially now that you know that after 4 there will be a 5 and 6 . You want to set up a "Venom : Lethal Protector movie " , do it a the beginning of Pt.6 and end Pt. 6 with "Venom" reluctantly coming to the aid of "Spiderman" because spidey is getting his ass handed to him by "Carnage" and there is your set up for the "Lethal Protector" series . 	Scropion would be a good choice. I'd like to see the Lizard as well though. Numerous villains is not a bad thing. Like anything else, it can be done right (The Dark Knight, X-men) or wrong ( Spiderman 3, Wolverine). 	The Lizard and Kraven, with a little Black Cat thrown in for eye candy. Makes a perfect "NY tie-in" as mentioned above with the alligators in the sewers. Lizard can control reptiles in a certain radius, and Spidey can get swamped by "evil flocks of foul-smelling" gators as Lizard makes his escape, right into a trap set by Kraven. And Kraven? Start him off wanting Lizard's head as a trophy, and realizing that using Lizard as bait, he can procure an even BETTER stuffed head for his collection: Spiderman. Frankly, I wouldn't even mind a cliff-hanger into Spidey V, with Peter turning to the Venom symbiote in desperation... I had hoped this would happen in the Iron Man 2 movie, with Stark getting whipped so badly he turns to Hulk for help, but Hulk turns out to be unstoppable after being so enraged by War Machine and Whiplash, so Stark is charged by SHIELD to finally pull together the only group who can defeat a fully enraged Hulk...
