Godzilla To Receive A Reboot

Godzilla To Receive A Reboot

Looks like the jolly green giant is in negotiations to make a rebooted come back to the silver screen.

The rumor mill is reporting that Legendary Pictures (Batman, TDK, The Hangover) is in early negotiations to reboot Godzilla here in the good ol' USA.

Hopefully saving us from that horrible memory that was. In 1998 Roland Emmerich directed and Matthew Broderick starred, turning in the worst Godzilla movie and the worst movie of the decade. Hopefully they leave Matthew at home and let the big boys take on Godzilla, scaring the Japanese along the way.

No news as yet on who will direct or what the script will consist because, as I said, Legendary Pictures is in early negotiations. Stay tuned as further news will be sure to develop.

Wow they are going to reboot this...again. I think the 1998 had potential but it just failed altogether. Sadly though I still watch it from time to time.

i was just 8 when i saw it but i remember really enjoying it, lol! guess i didnt know any better back then - i havent actually seen it since! didnt the movie end with a Godzilla baby hatching?

anyway, id prefer a Cloverfield sequel!!! now, that was a brilliant film! :)

As a Godzilla purist I have to say that the 1998 film was a complete insult to the fan base. I'm all in favor of a reboot that's executed with style, intelligence, and sticks to the roots of Godzilla. The monster should be a thick, upright, lethargic, enigmatic dinosaur on steroids that does not care one ounce if its being deluged with hell fire missiles....that's Godzilla!

Gfan, I entirely agree. I hated that movie so badly that I actually left the theater in a huff.
Considering the coolness of the original, it's almost hard to imagine a more ridiculous and ill concieved rendition. Supermike's videos are even superior

Love the big Green building smasher. Hope they go with one of his enemys. Or King Kong vs. Godzilla, That would be sweet.

thank you gfan, well put.

do it right or not at all.just ignore that 98 crapfest,
hold the camera straight so as not to induce vomiting
and you'll be ahead of the game.

I hope this doesnt happen. I just cant imagine it going over well. There are already dozens of good Godzilla movies, why try to top it with an American spin?

I'd much rather see a "Cloverfield" sequel without the shaky camera.

Reboot, reboot. I think the problem is that all these Hollywood A-holes really think that they are coming up with new ideas, with all the Crystal Meth they're smoking and all. Everyday's a brand new day with them, with no memory of yesterday.

I actually like the movie. I seen it in theathers when i was 11 so i had no choice, but if movie was on a local cable show i would probbaly still watch it. The movie is way overdue for a sequal with the cliff hanger ending.

Um..... Jman, you can Speak for yourself cuz I REALLY LIKED the 1998 GODZILLA Movie!

I watched it on DVD recently too.

They should've done the Sequel to that movie years ago.

I think thats what should be done NOW!!!

Make the SEQUEL and have him fight another Monster this time around.

Hell I'm all for it. '98 could have been much better, but Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich make shit movies anyway (aside from The Patriot). This could be cool...

@Superdog, how old are you?
