Was Marlon Brando Ever In The Running For Tim Burton's Penguin?

Check this MTV video out: Tim Burton talking about the other actors that were in the running to land the role of The Penguin.


It's too bad Marlon Brando never got the role, I would have loved to see his take on The Penguin, not that Danny Devito did a bad job, but Marlon Brando? Come on, get out a here!!

That would've been... ...weird. One of the greatest actors of all time, but, the Penguin? Really? I don't see it.

I just can't see Marlon playing the Penguin. I can see him in a more menacing character. Besides, he would be in his late 70's. He would be to old to play the character. Burton wanted him cause he was already fat and all he had to do was add a monocle, a tux, a tophat and flipper hands.

Was he serious about Sammy Davis Jr. playing Beetle Juice? Seems to me like the guy is always being told his ideas are ridiculous and the studio has to step in. Maybe he's not that great of a director after all. Don't get me wrong I liked his Batman but how much of it was him directing and the studio taking over? As well as with the rest of his wacky movies.

The Island of Dr. Moreau, the version with Val Kilmer, was terrible because Brando sucked up all the money for special effects to pay his salary.

Would like to see that re-done !

Ummm...sorry but he would have been a terrible penguin. Maybe another character...but not the penguin.

I think the Marlon Brando estate told him to keep that rumor quite. When he didnt they broke his pinky finger and sent him to publicly deny said rumor. Yeah I bet thats how it went down.
