Just last Wednesday, Starburst Magazine revealed an interview excerpt with Chris Wells, special effects supervisor of Hydraulx, who've contributed to films such as Captain America: The First Avenger, the X-Men franchise, and Marvel's Joss Whedon-directed flick The Avengers; the highlight of the interview.

Anyhow, during the interview Wells praised a rough cut of the film, it's opening sequence, which his Hydraulx team worked on, and he also debunked rumors that Captain America foe 'Red Skull' would be appearing in the summer blockbuster. Well, according to Looper helmer Rian Johnson, it seems that debunk cost Wells his job.

Special thanks to Twitter's @TorturedXGenius for the heads up. Well, fellow CBM fanboys, what do you think?

I hope not. He did a marvelous job, um, supervising the VFX artists render those epic sequences, like Hulk swapping alien ships.

GASTON

You do know that $17,000 was from the estimated amount he gotten from selling Ghost Rider merchandise over the years after the contract agreement he made with Marvel?

I can't believe Marvel fired that guy. First they make Gary Friedrich pay $17,000 in damages for selling Ghost Rider merchandise and now they fire the VFX Supervisor for saying Red Skull is NOT in The Avengers? Give me a break! Marvel Studios is starting to act like The Empire from Star Wars and Kevin Feige is the Emperor. LOL

Marvel's strict but they aren't idiots. They wouldn't fire the guy cause debunked an already debunked rumour. I'd say that the Rian Johnson is just making up crap. When Marvel releases a statement then we can all put it to rest, but until then, I'm sure this guy's just making up crap.

The only reason he would be fired over this is because he broke his contract. When you are making movies like this, small interviews can make big problems.

The "skull head guy" he is refering to is the Red Skull which he DID say was not in the film, but so had Joss Whedon himself weeks earlier.
