Marlon Brando as Jor-El in Superman (1978). Pictures, Images and Photos
a lot of similarities but I like his costume sparkling. It makes it look more out of this world like

ANTZ @ WARLOCK is why i dont like him, he's a very sh1t actor, he cant act outta a paper bag!! : D

I just hope he's got better lol.

I did like the WARLOCK movies just his acting skills was let down from them, still i loved Arachnophobia, who don't love that movie!!?

Looks good, but I'm confused. It seems like alot of Smallville fans are not a fan of Superman Returns due to it's overtly portrayed similarities to Donner's Superman movies.

My questions are: Why wouldn't the Smallville writers/producers/etc create their own version of Jor-El instead of staying with Marlon Brando's rendition? Is it a good idea to stick with that look?

I never picked up on the correlation but judging by the threads on here I would have to say your right. Alot of hate for SUPERMAN RETURNS comes up in the SMALLVILLE threads!

My guess as to why they went with that look is that they are trying to give WELLINGS' current costume a little more crediblilty given the similarities. Whether it's a good idea or not remains to be seen, but I think he looks the part.

I personally loved the 1st SUPES film, and the RICHARD DONNER cut of the 2nd film was leaps and bounds better than the one we all grew up with!

I didn't like Superman Returns only because of the lack of action. I love the Chris Reeves movies but same thing bugs me; lack of action... I want to see him go toe to toe with darkseid, brainiac, or doomsday.

This is Super weak... Jor-El is dead... I was willing to accept that the fortress has an interactive computer... but this should not be.

By the way... it's not really the fortress of solitude if EVERYONE CLARK KNOWS HAS BEEN THERE!!!!!

i think that jor-el looks pretty cool. He looks more jedi than brando jor-el. This season has been good so far.

It looks like he's wearing a t-shirt with a silk screen "S" on it. How cheap is that? What they didn't have enough money to make it plastic like in Superman Returns, or they couldn't embroider the "S". It looks like crap, I can see Clark doing that, but not this intelligent race of people silk screening their family crests.
