GI Joe: Resolute Hits DVD - See The Trailer and Storyboards Here!

The animated DVD GI Joe: Resolute (Joe's violent rebirth), written by acclaimed comic book writer Warren Ellis, with be out next month. If you want to know what it looks like, all the storyboards and also the trailer to GI Joe: Resolute is right here:

The original 1985 cartoon series, the basic premise was "good vs. evil." The show's opening theme song included the narration: "GI Joe is the code name for America's daring, highly trained special mission force. Its purpose: to defend human freedom against Cobra, a ruthless terrorist organization determined to rule the world," explaining the show's premise.

The animated show featured physical fighting and high-tech weapons as a way to compensate for toned-down violence and lack of bullets in what was seen to be a children's program. The show also featured public service announcements placed at the end of each show. These PSAs ended with the phrase: "Now you know, and knowing is half the battle." The series ran from 1985-86 and in 1987, the series was followed with "GI Joe: The Movie" and most recently a series of "GI Joe: Sigma 6" was born for the Sigma 6 toyline. But now back better than ever GI Joe is back so check out the trailer.

The DVD version of the animated movie is first serialized online before being shown on the great Adult Swim earlier this year. Anyway, it includes new unseen footage, as well as interviews with the people responsible for the exciting series and storyboards like these that are shown below:

Many thanks to the guys at i09.com.

LEEE777 - Now this looks like the real GI Joe. If only the live action sequel will looks as good as this it will be amazing. That goes for "Wolverine 2" for that matter as well. I have high hopes for both sequels. Still, can't wait to own a copy of "GI Joe: Resolute!"

I wonder if there'll be a thousand lasers flying around and nobody getting hit, like in the old cartoon.

For the sake of Storm Shadow vs Snake Eyes, YO JOE!!
Nemesys - 10/26/2009, 2:31 PM
for those of you who haven't seen this yet it is AWESOME. People die and do NOT come back. The violence is great and its a superb update to our favorite 80s cartoon. Definitely worth checking out. The fight between Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow is BRUTAL.....

I caught the show when it aired on tv. Loved it.

You know, this is the first time I've seen more of the news article than the comments. LOL

The 2:03 of that trailer was sooooo much better than the almost 2 hours of my life I lost watching that crapfest Rise of Cobra. Why can't Hollywood get ideas from stuff like this?
weapon925 - 10/26/2009, 9:11 PM
Yes! This would have a been a better film to watch than that waste of life I gave to Rise of Cobra. I saw the last half on Adult Swim. Great vision for a rebooted animated franchise. I wish they did the same to Transformers g1.
Phinehas - 10/26/2009, 10:18 PM
they should have just made this into a live action movie, word for word, scene for scene. it was so good. violent, snake eyes kills so many people in this. you can't watch this and then say that the live action movie was good. this is what the live action SHOULD have been!
CorndogBurglar - 10/27/2009, 10:59 AM
and it makes me wonder, if they can get away with snake eyes slaughtering so many people in this ANIMATED movie, that aired on CARTOON NETWORK, then why was the live action so watered down?

@ grif

this isn't old news, yeah the movie has been done for a while, but i've been waiting to hear when this will be on DVD!

@ LEEE

good article man!
CorndogBurglar - 10/27/2009, 11:00 AM

thatiscrazy - 10/27/2009, 3:51 PM
Saw it on AS as well. Very good. Just mad at 2 characters that got killed off. They were good ones for the most part.
TonyPaintball - 10/27/2009, 11:51 PM
IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THIS THERE ARE SOME SPOILERS: BE WARNED

If you don't mind the spoiler and haven't seen this and are thinking; "How good could this be?" This is how good. This is how Duke should be. This is how BADASS Snake-Eyes MUST BE.
