^^Absolutely agreed. I've been a Bruce Campbell fan for circa 30 years and this series ranks up there with his best/most hilarious works. His charisma hasn't waned, all the jokes are completely on point and I'm intrigued by the more serious sub-plots of the traumatized investigating FBI Agent & Lucy Lawless' character...

They've channeled the silly/scary of the original Evil Dead so flippin well.

Watched Evil Dead for the first time this morning. Can anyone suggest a viewing order for the other movies and comics that would be necessary to fully understand this show?

Just watch the three films (Evil Dead, Evil Dead II, Army of Darkness). But don't look for any over-arching story or thread.

The Evil Dead universe has VERY loose sense of continuity. Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness are really the only two pieces that tightly interlock in any meaningful way. I'm not sure that the comics are considered canon, but probably more just fun what-if scenarios. The TV seems to be maintaining a blurry link to Evil Dead 1 and 2, but it could be said that it's just picking bits and pieces of those films to use in its continuity at this point.

Really, Evil Dead is not the MCU. Continuity and canon is not a concern here. Just bask in the glorious chinlyness that is Bruce Campbell and the goofy horror/comedy goodness of the Evil Dead and go along for the ride!

Don't watch Evil Dead 1, it's more of a horror movie that's goofy only because of the editing and budget.

What you need to watch is Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness because those show the theme of the series in the best way. Evil Dead II, especially, sets the background and theme for this show!

Show is great but half hour episodes? Really? Should at least be an hour like the pilot episode.

Evil Dead 2 is pretty much a remake of Evil Dead 1.
Evil Dead 1 is pretty much a straight horror movie but 2 has all the humor and charm that made the franchise so popular.

Another great week. So glad Ash will be sticking around at least another season. I still would prefer an hour thou BTW Bruce also played Ronald Regan on Fargo on Monday I don't know if it was a one time deal but it was cool to see him in Ash mode and then two days later doing the Regan voice.
