Interesting interview. I think that Smallville is giving us a chance to see what comic book heroes would look like on screen in their comic book costumes.

It seems people think it strange to see characters with their spandex or what ever the make up of the costume is. Personally I think they are wrong to think that it would look weird on the big screen. I think they (the movie directors) have not been bold enough in pushing a new movie look, who says super heroes have to wear leather to be acceptable.

Frankly I think the movie company that is bold enough to make costume crusaders in the comic book garb will own that market of comic book fans. That movie producer would be known for keeping the characters as they were created.

It's just not normal because no one has been bold enough do it constantly.

At least that's what "I" think.

Cool interview Ed!

Is it just me, or does he seem a little embarrassed playing a superhero character. He kept having to justify everything he said.

One more side thought. If the film editors and creative staff can arrange the world the comic book characters live in to resemble the world in the comic books the characters would not look so out of place. There are many ways to do that.

No, I don't think he was embarrassed at all. I think his concern was coming across as looking goofy. As I think I say in one of the subsequent parts of this interview, I was on the set of the Star Trek film First Contact, and I have to tell you: the Borgified portions of the Enterprise looked INCREDIBLY phony, but then shot under the proper lighting it looked incredible on screen. So the concern is: how will the costume come across? Can't wait to find out on Friday night.

Cool, thanks for clearing that up Ed.

WILL watch.

I dont think this guy looks the part physically, his face may have the look of a hero and he's probably the best actor for the part but he seems a little too wimpy, he couldve bulked up a little.
jimdrums - 2/2/2010, 12:56 PM
Well as other people have stated he is a retired hero who hasn't been active for a couple decades, so he wouldn't be in as good of shape.

I want that suit.

where do they film Smallville at?

Nevermind, i'd probably end up like the guy at the beginning of the Kick A$$ trailer......

anyway, I am looking forward to this sooooo much. You guys don't know how much I've been waiting for this.

probably shouldn't mention this, but thank the anonimity of the internet for the following info. Almost 20 years ago I got a tattoo of Hawkman on my right leg. And, no not the Thanagar Hawkman, it is Carter Hall as depicted in the last issues of All Star Comics, and again in the 70's revival. Yup...old cloth helmet. I chose that depiction just so there would be no question as to which Hawkman it is.

ok, rant over.

Oh, I love how Shanks makes that reference to Shakespeare. LOL we know that you're an actor.
