Kiss Bale Goodbye for Batman 3 - Bring in DiCaprio or... CLINT EASTWOOD?!

Since most of you more or less promised to fling dog sh*t at James White, I want you all to see what Sam Ashurst of Total Film thinks about a Bale-Free Batman 3!
Okay, at this point I'm like the mean cheerleader girl who tells one bitchy high school girl what the other bitchy high school girl said about her to merely see the fur fly...that said, I'm okay with it.

Mr. Ashurst of Total Film posted a humorous blog that compares Bale to a "Disney Wolf" and said he can't fight and is probably a "douche."

Ashurst says that they should either go with DiCaprio in "Batman 3," or jump ahead 20 years and have a future showdown with a Clint Eastwood Batman and a Daniel Day-Lewis Joker.

Now, though I believe his article was more or less a joke, I still have to say that DiCaprio is pretty damn over-rated and he should NEVER... EVER... EEEEVVVVEEERRRR go near a comic book movie. Unless it's one wherein he plays a villain who gets killed...painfully.

As for the other suggestion of "Batman 3" taking place in a decade or two from now, that would actually make sense, considering how TDK left off.

BUT...let me be CLEAR...I do not want to see a Bale-Free Batman film...at least not in the Nolanverse Trilogy. I'm sure they will make more. I'm sure that it will be akin to James Bond with new casts and loose continuity, but I want this trilogy to work.

I also have to say, I think Bale's performance in TDK was a little watered-down. In "Batman Begins" he was amazing. I didn't find myself ONCE saying "Okay dude, put on the Batsuit cause you're boring me!" He had crazy intensity in that flick, but in the next one there was something missing. I know most of you will want to stone me for saying that. I'm sorry, it's just how I feel. The movie was amazing and his performance was good...but in Begins it was GREAT!!

Dicaprio as Batman....best joke I've heard all day. It was a joke right? ;)

I am myself not a big fan of Bale's Batman either. He is a terrific Bruce Wayne, but he isn't so successful as the Bat. His voice is absolutely HORRENDOUS (and I mean that in every sense of the word imaginable), he isn't intimidating enough, and I just feel there is something missing with his portrayal, I can't quite put my finger on it, it just is lacking to me.

He can't compare to Keaton's Batman. Keaton had a scary voice without it coming off as an extreme distraction, was intimidating without even lifting a finger in the costume, and he just FELT like Batman, I could sense it.

In short, Bale's the best Bruce, but Keaton's the best Batman, end of. Though my favorite portrayal of Batman ever has got to be Kevin Conroy.

bleedthefreak16 - 10/22/2009, 8:24 PM
as a side not for those of you who think that bale can't fight, you should see equilibrium. and for those of you who don't give two flying shat's about bale, should see the movie anyway, it kicks ass.
KEROSENE - 10/22/2009, 8:27 PM
Even if they did do a Dark Knight Returns style film, Eastwood is way too old.I think he's about 80.
kenny38606 - 10/22/2009, 8:40 PM
Bale was just fine. WTF is this guy's issue?

Whatever.

David Tennant for Riddler.

And if Clint Eastwood is going to play Bruce, it's going to be in a Batman Beyond movie.

@MovieTheaterLad...great pics!

i think bale did a fine enough job as bruce, but his batman was cr@p...TDK was the best villain movie and should have been titled: the joker.
MisterUnderhill - 10/22/2009, 9:01 PM
David Tennant is the Riddler, no contest.

InTylerWeTrust82 - 10/22/2009, 9:08 PM

P.S. CLINT EASTWOOD is not working acting wise EVER AGAIN!!!

He will never play any BATMAN period lol.
LEEE777 - 10/22/2009, 9:33 PM
Wow, this whole thing about Bales raspy voice is so overrated. I've seen the movie about 25 times, and I just don't see what you guys are talking about.
Macksimus - 10/22/2009, 11:49 PM
MACK @ They don't know what their talking about, thats just about it lol! ; D
LEEE777 - 10/22/2009, 11:55 PM
I would love to see those who hate bales voice mugged in a dark ally where all they hear is someone using that voice and watch them pee their pants.

Bale is Batman
Scarycherry - 10/23/2009, 1:07 AM
Yeah, we don't know what we're talking about. Okay, maybe that's because we could never f*cking understand what he was saying!

Scary: Any person getting mugged in an alley would pee their pants. If the mugger had the voice of Spongebob but was mugging you it would be the same exact thing.

I like how you treat Tennant being Doctor Who like it's a bad thing Lee. F*ck Mister "I gotta jar o' diiirt!"

Tennant has EVERYTHING required for the Riddler. He is actually taller than Bale by an inch, unlike Depp who is shorter, plays crazy excellently, looks just like the comic Riddler, and is just one of the best actors out there.
InTylerWeTrust82 - 10/23/2009, 4:33 AM
InTyler...I agree with you about Bale's voice and all obviously, and you're right about being mugged by Spongebob. I mean even if Gwen Stefani mugged me I'd about cry!! BUT I think he was the best Batman as of Batman Begins...it was in TDK that he seemed to be missing something. In the back of my mind this is the scenario that I couldn't shake:

Bale is thinking to himself during Batman Begins..."okay, THIS will put me over the top, I will finally break into mainstream, commercial success. No more critic-darling indies, no more obscure film festiavl hits, THIS is it. And yes, I'm kind of selling out by going SO mainstream BUT it's worth it if it gets me the recognition I deserve. Plus, it wont be too bad makning one more if I can't get out of the contract...I'm sure I can get out of doing a third though I mean...Keaton did it, why wont I be able to?!

Then After Batman Begins is successful, Bale does sequel. He thinks to himself now..."Ugh, I couldn't get out of doing this one! Last one, for sure. I'm not even the main attraction this time! Ugh, I hate these geek movies. I'm too cool for this! What a sellout I am! Man the next chance I get to go off on some lowely crew member, I'm gonna make him or her cry!! BUT I am making good money on this low-brow crap. Now Chris Nolan's brother Jonathan is talking to me about Terminator 4. I didn't know there was even a FIRST! It's a small part, but I'll fix that! I'm second bannana to nobody anymore mister! Ugh, I'm just kind of phoning this performance in. I hope no one will notice. Oh...I know what would be SO FUNNY: If I up the rasp from the last movie SO BADLY that you pretty much can't even UNDERSTAND what I'm saying!! Ha! All the snobby movie people in the high brow film industry will see what I'm doing, it will be my own personal protest...acknowledging that this movie is crapola and beneath me! I can't wait! Hahahahahhahahahaha.

...anyway, THAT is what plays in the back of my mind, it's like this little scenario that I've concocted, and while I know it's wrong, I can't get rid of it!!
TheDurkinKnight - 10/23/2009, 6:01 AM
I second (or actually, 'third') the motion for Tennant as the Joker (it's been said that while he was in town for Comicon doing 'Doctor Who' stuff, he auditioned for a role... but he won't mention which one. Hmmmm....) As for Clint Eastwood as an older Bruce/Batman, I say, "BRILLIANT"! He's perfect for a 'Batman Beyond' film, and even though he's not HUGE like the graphic novel, I can TOTALLY see him in 'Dark Knight Returns'!

DiCaprio (while talented... when he wants to be) should have a restraining order placed against him as far as comic book movies are concerned!
loganoneil - 10/23/2009, 10:55 AM
Ok... The suggestion for DiCaprio as Captain America gets me pretty [frick]ing pissed, but someone suggested him to play Batman!?!? I'm sorry, but whoever spewed that steaming pile needs to be shot... in the penis.
BmanHall - 10/23/2009, 11:12 AM
Dicaprio could NEVER be Batman, MAYBE Captain America but never Batman.

this is the worst idea ever!

BatmanKnight - 10/23/2009, 12:53 PM
Only for the voice Keaton is the best Batman? GIVE ME A BREAKE.
Keaton is a flacid, big head, midjet, is the worst Batman, Clooney too.
OSCURO - 10/23/2009, 1:18 PM
"Bale...can't fight..." Really? Seriously? Okay buddy, you go ahead and pick a fight with the guy and see how that works for ya. I wouldn't wanna fight him.

And about the voice thing; the recent BATMAN movies are good. Really good. But it's in a fanboy's nature to whine about things. The fanboy MUST find SOMETHING to complain about. Complaining is the only power that the fanboy wields in his sad little life which is otherwise replete with energy drinks, world of warcraft and sitting aroung being fat and pathetic.

Don't worry about the voice. Fanboys will be fanboys. They're gonna bellyache about something no matter what.

As a matter of fact, just the other day I heard a fanboy complaining that OPTIMUS PRIME was too much of a badass. Gimme a break.
gibbyblaylock - 10/23/2009, 11:55 PM
hmmmmm .....
FrankCastle1 - 10/24/2009, 10:55 AM
No, no, no, everybody knows that Clint Eastwood is Old Man Logan!

Betty - 10/24/2009, 1:15 PM
woh that's huge
Betty - 10/24/2009, 1:16 PM
@Betty- awesome pic!! He would make a great Old Man Logan. Pity he has retired. Would make a great Batman Beyond Wayne as well.
invalensname - 10/24/2009, 2:18 PM
Isn't this Deja vu ? A good actor leaves, a cheesy villian and an old dude is the hero.
whatthehell - 10/24/2009, 7:40 PM
I liked Bale as Batman he done a great job with the character. In my opinion he's the best live action Batman and Bruce Wayne, at the moment.
TDKR11 - 10/24/2009, 11:04 PM
@gibbyblaylock

my kinda person...could'nt of said it better myself
TheLivingWeapon - 10/25/2009, 10:46 AM

SpiderGuy - 10/25/2009, 4:58 PM
SpiderGuy-- Thanks, it was very hard.
Betty - 10/25/2009, 5:50 PM
i believe that Bale is the best bruce wayne and the best voice
all the others batmans had their normal voice when Bale changes it
Bale for life
prinzjoker - 10/27/2009, 8:23 PM
Would you guys give me a break. Bale is such a horrible actor and an even worse Batman. The only movie he's ever been ok at has been American Psycho. Bale's voice as Batman is a joke. He tries to hard and it makes him look like a tool. They need a new someone who can pull off the roles of both Batman and Bruce Wayne and so far only Micheal Keaton has been able to do that. I vote for either Clive Owen or Jim Cavizel to step into the role. Both have that intense nature that the Batman movies need. So far only Heath Ledger has been able to tap into that lately making his performance the best of the Nolan franchise. Clint Eastwood would make a perfect Batman Beyond Bruce Wayne though. And as for David Tennant I like that idea way better than Johnny Depp. Depp's way too over-rated.
