First!!

Badass images, great find! I especially like the imagery of Paul, which seems to be well after he left the pampered castle-life on Caladan, and has already started getting his @$$ kicked into shape by the Fremen. The imagery of the worms is awesome as well, definately a far cry from the David Lynch 'oversized, toothed nightcrawlers'.

WHY? Teh SciFi channel did a BRILLIANT mini-series adaptation back in 2000 (and 'NO', I'm not talking about the POS sequel 'Children of Dune'!).

Why the hell would the director opt out of Dune in favor of Battleship? Hmmm... one of the greatest science fiction sagas of all time or a movie based on a board game. Wow. I guess it makes sense coming from a guy who directed Hancock. Good riddance.

if you must watch the mini series, do it AFTER you read the book. they are such masterpieces!! the first three were amazing, the fourth one had an awesome idea but kind of lost my interest when it actually came to reading it. i didnt read the others yet, but i will someday!!

not even kidding, this thing could be the next star wars, lord of the rings, or avatar even, and with todays effects and probably 3D option this would be SICK!!!

is another director picking this movie up? please god i hope so

I always said this was too much movie for Berg. Got nothing against the guy but Dune can not be fracked up again.

Do it with full motion capture so we can get the best actors regardless of what they look like.

I did not even know they were going to try a 3rd go at DUNE. I still liked the first one as cheesy as it was. It had Patrick Stewart and that is a +1 for any movie.

The images look sweet! O agree it's a good thing that the "Hancock" director dropped it. Lets get it into the hands of someone who will do it right. The original was freakin awesome!!!

Dune (the book) was awesome, from the time I was 14 till I was in college I probably read that book 5 or 6 times, before that cheesefest of a first movie came out, David Lynch, probably the most overrated director of my generation. I did read the entire series by Herbert, dipped fairly low in the middle books but wrapped up great. The second iteration on tv on syfy was at least worth checking out but I was actually hoping for Berg to get this off the ground and into the theater and bring some of the intensity he brought to The Kingdom, a pretty good movie from an ok director.

....I'd like to see someone (that is, someone worth mentioning) have a go at God-Emperor Worm, a great ending to a wonderful series, and a movie that wouldn't have been done with any justice without the special effects that we have today.

Peter Berg must be one of the dumbest [frick]ers alive! WhyTF would he even tread on Battleship waters when he could've been making this masterpiece.

Paul: What do you call the mouse shadow on the second moon?

Stilgar: We call that one Muad'Dib.

Paul: Could I be known as Paul Muad'Dib?

Stilgar: You are now Paul Muad'Dib!

This will sum up all you need to know about the epic tale of Dune (as presented by David Lynch)

This needs to be DONE! Lynch's wasn't correct, the SciFi channel one suffered from poor special affects but still was pretty great! I would love to see the first 4 books done. Then maybe Brian Herbert's Prelude to Dune trilogy or the Legends of Dune trilogy. I love Dune and all it's stories I even have all the old toys and made a custom of Patrick Stewart as Gurney Halleck.

@ wards : While I will agree, more people need to be exposed to this great series (and, not like TeaBag exposes things), I wouldn't go so far as to indicate that those *not* familiar with them are dumbasses...
