I Heard that Warner Bros. is collaborating with Japanese animation Studio4°C ("The Animatrix") to design the look of the classic characters from another site. That would be cool Thunder Thunder Thundercats HOOO!

its funny how screenwriters dont seem to understand that their job here is to take a known story and adapt it to film. They really shouldnt be adding any unnecessary characters to the mix. I think they should stick to the source material and within that source material switch things around but not adding things to the mix. To the point where a fan sits down watches the film and goes.....that was never part of the original story? I would much rather say "thats an interesting interpretation of that" but putting in new things just because the writer wishes to become more artistic is just bull shit.

LIKE HE SAID, BEST OPENING FOR A CARTOON OF ALL TIME, SILVERCATS TRIED, BUT STILL THUNDERCATS TRUMPS THEM ALL....

I don't get this- what needs "updating" here? The basic concept of the series is timeless. The characters are timeless, with one exception. We have finally moved past the era where every animated series was required to have an alleged "comedy relief" character to appeal to the smaller children. If an "update" means no snarf, then I'm all for it. But don't change anything else! Thundercats is a series that if you put it back on today, you'd have a new generation of kids discovering it and enjoying it as much as kids (and a lot of us older cartoon lovers) did back in the Eighties.

just wanna know why is it called "near-exclusive audio interview"?

It would be nice to see a completed cartoon series. It was a shame they left the He-man remake hanging.

Wolverinedecade, when I refer to something as a "near exclusive," it means that there were only a handful of us doing the interview. Exclusive would be my one-on-ones.

If the first episode involves the dismembering of Snarf,I'm in!LOL Wonder if they'll use the female space-cop character that had a Robocop faceshield and a serious hankering for Lion-O...I remember the Hachiman episodes in particular were well done. Will it be the originals,or are they going to try and shoehorn Lynx-O and Pumira into this?

My God,.. going on this interview alone, This guy just doesn't get it ...

I don't mean to tear the fellow down but look at what he said:

"theres nothing thats Iconic ...."

OK, a group of special characters that flee their dying homeworld to another planet and hope to make it a better world......

Superman anyone...don't folks connect with that?.Jeez. And he later references that its similar.

Or Maybe he missed the whole "teenager has to grow in to a role and responsibility that he was given." thing ..Im sure no one can connect or be intrigued by that. Why is that a hard theme to latch onto. A young boys mind , in a mans body suddenly told .."you're the leader , the Lord...lead us "

"It takes sci-fi, takes fanatsy and these other genre's and smashes together.."
Thanks for getting that right....Also please keep that the swords enchantment invokes honor, mystical powers and forces the user to be worthy and not use killing or straight violence as the first means of solving a conflict.

He says they're changing the origin.... ( the whole fleeing the planet to find another home world thing)

Why do it at all if all you want to do is change it. Clearly the guys sounds like he's struggling to understand why folks like it. It would appear like hes a hired gun that doesn't get it at all.

Besides being similar in themes and elements to Superman, Star Wars (huh?) And Excalibur, the whole cats, and mummies thing is just fun stuff...its real simple. Then just write it well, (good dialogue) and go from there.

Just from the interview, and judging that alone, Im kinda worried this will be bad. He thinks just the intro alone, that must be why folks like it...WTF?

Ok maybe we could do without snarf talking.

umm have you guys watched thunder cats recently? it does not hold up AT ALL. they need to make it relevant in 2011. I'm sure they will do a good job even if they have to change a few things.

a dispassionate writer + a complicated mythos - perfect!!!They'll probably have to base it on a planet under the grip of a tyranical Mum ra, and have the "cats" play the super protagonists......wait a minute wasn't that done before?

WHY CHANGE ANYTHING ABOUT IT? WHY? TO MAKE IT BETTER? NO...TO MAKE IT YOUR OWN IS WHAT HE'S SAYING...IF HE MESSES THIS UP THOUGH YOU CAN SAY YEP THATS THE GUY WHO EFFED UP THUNDERCATS....
JUST LIKE JAMES WONG EFFED UP DRAGONBALL Z

"I CAN'T TALK TO YOU GUYS RIGHT NOW I HAVE TO GO TO HIGHSCHOOL, I'M GOING TO SEARCH FOR BALLS LATER OK?"

AND ANG LEE EFFED UP THAT HULK MOVIE...

"HULK FEELS EMO, HULK RATHER SIT IN DESERT AND WATCH MOLD ON TREEBARK.."

AND JIMMY HAYWARD EFFED UP THAT JONAH HEX MOVIE.....WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE DIRECTORS FROM CRANK BUT THEY ABANDONED THE PROJECT OVER "CREATIVE DIFFERENCES.".

"I CAN'T HELP IT THAT I LOOK LIKE IM ABOUT TO JIZZ.."

It's so hard nowadays to reboot old shows like this. Fans will always be looking for that old school feeling that most shows don't have anymore.
