A JLA TV Series?

With the talks of a JLA Movie could you imagine a JLA TV series? Well, there was one...
With talks about a Justice League of America movie in the talks I decided to see what had been on the air waves recently and found something on a made for TV movie called Justice League of America back in 1997. It aired on CBS and was a flop. The film centers on a female meteorologist who gains superpowers and also on her subsequent induction into the "Justice League" (JLA). All this while the city of New Metro is held for ransom by a terrorist armed with a "Weather Control Device".
The film is interjected with mock-interviews of various members of the Justice League, speaking about life as a superhero in a past tense, preceding the events of the film.
The cast included:

Kimberly Oja as Tori Olafsdotter/Ice, a meteorologist working at Dr Eno's Meteorological Institute.

Miguel Ferrer as Dr. Eno/The Weatherman, has his own meteorological institute and is also the terrorist known as The Weatherman.

Kenny Johnston as Barry Allen/Flash, unemployed and has trouble keeping a job down.

Matthew Settle as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, his relationship with his girlfriend is in a constant state of unrest.

Michelle Hurd as B.B. DaCosta/Fire, a struggling actress.

John Kassir as Ray Palmer/Atom, a science teacher.

David Ogden Stiers as J'onn J'onzz/Martian Manhunter, the leader of the JLA. Critics felt Stier's weight affected his portrayal of the character.

David Krumholtz as Martin Walters, a fellow actor of B.B. and has a "crush" on her.

Ron Pearson as Dr. Arliss Hopke, one of Tori's work colleagues.

Common complaints are of the plot holes, poor special effects, bad costumes and that the league members deviated heavily from their source characters. Critics have also said the movie tried to be like "Friends with superpowers" Established JLA writer Mark Waid said the movie was, "80 minutes of my life I'll never get back."

Apparently it was never aired in the U.S., but it was in the U.K. (Channel 5), WAPA-TV Puerto Rico Channel 4, Thailand (Cinemax), Brazil (Sistema Brasileiro de Televisão), Uruguay, Germany and Israel. Bootleg copies have been distributed through conventions, websites and file sharing networks.

This would have been interesting to see. I mean, can you imagine David Ogden Stiers as Martian Manhunter?

I have a copy of this, it was indeed a horrible movie. The Martian Manhunter had a very comic accurate costume and a beer gut. Truly a terrible movie that I just had to have in my bootleg collection

Eghu! Glad I never had this bad taste in my mouth. I guess it must be hard running a comic book character business. Wasn't this around the same time Marvel declared bankruptcy? Since then DC's made two great Batman Movie's, a bunch of "graphic novel" movies, and nothing else really. I hope Marvel's success isn't just some passing fluke.
