Fox Reboot of Fantastic Four Underway

20th Century Fox is the latest studio to start the process of overhauling one of its big Marvel Entertainment franchises, “Fantastic Four,” which has already hatched two films. The studio has hired Akiva Goldsman to oversee the re-boot as the producer.
The new script will be written by Michael Green, the “Heroes” co-executive producer who co-wrote “Green Lantern,” the Martin Campbell-directed Warner Bros. film that will star Ryan Reynolds.

Fox would not comment on its plans, and neither would Columbia Pictures when BFD revealed a couple weeks past its plan to potentially re-boot the studio's most valuable franchise, "Spider-Man."

With “Spider-Man 4” moving toward an early 2010 production start, the studio recently hired James Vanderbilt to write a fifth and sixth installment of the web-slinger franchise, with the understanding that one or both could give that franchise a makeover with a new director and cast ("Daily Variety," Aug. 16, 2009). Whether director Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire return or not, Sony smartly has given itself the chance to shorten the gap between its superhero installments.

And with state-of-the-art visual effects on superhero franchises pushing these pictures toward the $250 million-$300 million range, reshuffling the creative cast gives the studio a chance to save money. Actors and directors usually have a pre-negotiated option or two before the studio is held over a barrel by talent and their reps.

Marvel Studios has eliminated that problem by making talent sign as many as nine options, which was the case with the supporting cast of "Iron Man 2."

The 2005 “Fantastic Four” and 2007 sequel “Rise of the Silver Surfer” were directed by Tim Story, and starred Ioan Gruffud, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, and Michael Chiklis. Since the deals are just getting made, it is unclear at present if any will return.

Though Marvel Entertainment owns and finances properties like “Iron Man” and “Thor,” Fox controls “Fantastic Four” in perpetuity—as long as it continues making the films. Fox has the same arrangement on Marvel Comics properties “X-Men,” “Daredevil,” and “Silver Surfer” --which, despite an appearance in the "Fantastic Four" sequel, is still a Fox priority for a solo film.

Marvel is a producer and financial participant through a licensing agreement signed before Marvel franchises had the drawing power they have now. In fact, the original deal was made back when Marvel was struggling to pull itself out of bankruptcy in 1997.

Fox has been extraordinarily effective in mining its Marvel franchises. The studio made three “X-Men” films, and then a hit summer spinoff in “Wolverine.” Fox is working on a sequel to that film, and has scripts for “X-Men Origins: Magneto," and “X-Men Origins: First Class," the latter of which could bring original "X-Men" helmer Bryan Singer back to the fold. Potential spinoffs for the Gambit and Deadpool characters seen in "Wolverine" have also been discussed.

As producer, Goldsman is involved with several DC Comics transfers, including “Jonah Hex,” “The Losers” and “Teen Titans.” He was also producer on the Will Smith Charlize Theron-superhero film “Hancock,” a film that has a sequel in development.

I hate the idea of reboots in general, but in this case; Thank God.

Though I wish Disney could just buy back the rights from Fox out right. Then maybe we'd get a propper FF.
nerosday - 8/31/2009, 10:36 PM
Reboot? Already? Is this really necessary? Why not just a sequel?
LexLuthor - 8/31/2009, 10:36 PM
Lol... Well given what they've done to Doom and Galactus and the casting and... aw, hell. I can see a reboot for it. They have so little going for a sequel anyway at this point.
nerosday - 8/31/2009, 10:39 PM
Well... The Incredible Hulk reboot was amazing so maybe this one will be good too...
TheCritic17 - 8/31/2009, 10:45 PM

Ryan Reynolds for the Fantastic Four!!!
TheCritic17 - 8/31/2009, 10:56 PM
I [frick]in' hate reboots. Now we have to see the same shit, rehashed with a new cast, and it could all end up worse than last time. I say make FF3 and keep the damn cast what it is. Give us some Skrulls and Kree, give us Namor!
TheMyth - 8/31/2009, 11:13 PM
@Myth: Sounds good to me :)
TheCritic17 - 8/31/2009, 11:18 PM
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!
alcinde4 - 8/31/2009, 11:25 PM
The Fantastic Four as a property is horribly bland. You combine that with the piss poor job Fox has already done with Marvel's movies and this is a recipe for disaster. What does Marvel have to do to get its properties back??!!!???
alcinde4 - 8/31/2009, 11:28 PM
I agree with you Myth, it is becoming sickening. Though I think Incredible Hulk demonstrated a proper reboot and cuts through some of that bs you're talking 'bout.

You just look at these movies (FF a prime example), and want to piss all over them after what TDK, Iron Man, and Watchmen have done.
48and2 - 8/31/2009, 11:29 PM
Not Fuc-k-ing interested!!! Reboot FF4 to have another rubber suit "Thing"...no thanks FOX!! Give Back ur lisence to Marvel/Disney....that's the only way for u to pay for your crimes against Hummanity(X-3,Daredevil,FF,FF2,Electra,X-men:Origins,Galactus Cameo, and Baraka-pool)!!!

I Hate u FOX....I Hate You!!!!!!!!!

Roboot?!... man, just cut the crap & make a sequel or dont make anything at all!! imo.
KeepItReal - 8/31/2009, 11:32 PM
In the begining this series had so much potential.

...but in the end, Fox killed it...twice.

And I really liked the original cast members. I thought they had the perfect actors for each role. Too bad the story, production, and directing were all horrible.

Oh well, here we go again...
Macksimus - 8/31/2009, 11:35 PM
I hated Jessica Alba as Sue..sooo wrong for her. I hope she is the first to change if they do make some changes.
KeepItReal - 8/31/2009, 11:39 PM
So Akiva Goldsman has his hands on another comic book movie?!!!
slimybug - 8/31/2009, 11:39 PM
The Summer BlockBuster Wolverine?! what the F?! that ship sunk faster than the titanic! Honestly , I like the FF movies and hated the wolvie and thought the Ghost Rider "Looked"Amazing but that too was utter crap as a film... cuz of the studios... i hate fox and i hope they drown in the debt of their endeavors... even if it means losing a few comic movies... i hate them for there viewpoints on life!
shibazz - 8/31/2009, 11:40 PM
Macksimus, I agree dude, I liked the whole cast, even Doom. It's just shitty story telling that hurt those movies, and a severe lack of action.

KeepItReal, I posted to you in another article. Glad to have you back around. So when'd they let you out of jail? lol kidding everyone, heh heh.
TheMyth - 8/31/2009, 11:43 PM
Thing was too short but Chicklis made a valiant effort! I liked him! Thing needs to be tall! Chris had Johnny down to the T! Jessica looked like a walking talking manikin with hair made from nylon! Sue richards is a very blond Nordic-looking woman and I mean WOMAN. Ioan just was not Reed Richards at ALL! Reed Richards is a sophisticated authoritative doctor of science with distinguished white templed hair.

They need to do it over with the right cast...but Chris Evans is just right for Johnny, in my opinion.
DDD - 8/31/2009, 11:47 PM
Myth...shhhh! not supposed to say I was on lock down! I was "away on sabatacle"... hehehe!! I responded to you :) Thanks for the welcome back. =) Ive missed you guys too!

SHIBAZZ! hey! how you doin?!
KeepItReal - 8/31/2009, 11:49 PM
Billy Crudup for Reed Richards

Elizabeth Banks for Sue Storm

Jeffrey Dean Morgan for The Thing

??? for Human Torch
InTylerWeTrust82 - 8/31/2009, 11:58 PM
im disappointed that chris evans wont be the torch anymore
ALmighty1080 - 8/31/2009, 11:58 PM
Human Torch? Chris again!
DDD - 8/31/2009, 11:58 PM
Shibazz and I are trying to enlighten folks on the perils of trusting the government, though I don't think anyone listen's lol.

DDD, I agree that Ioan was the weakest link in the cast and Alba wasn't phenomenal either, but they did their part. It could have been even worse if you can believe it. I read in one of TheProgram's 'What If..." articles that George Clooney was almost cast for Reed, how awesome would that have been!?!
TheMyth - 8/31/2009, 11:59 PM
Tyler great casting but just make Chris Torch again.
DDD - 8/31/2009, 11:59 PM
Trusting the government is like trusting the fox to watch the hen-house!
DDD - 9/1/2009, 12:00 AM
This is a big [frick]ing joke!..

I certainly agree with Macksimus, and Myth on that topic. The original cast was perfect and doesn't need a reboot and recast! But, like I said before and always that, if you're not part of the "high-concept" committee then this isn't really good news to the ears!..
Minotauro - 9/1/2009, 12:00 AM
I'd rather watch a Silver Surfer film before another FF and since when was "Wolverine" considered a summer hit?

WeaponX - 9/1/2009, 12:01 AM
I disagree @Minotauro! Ioan was absolutely wrong for Reed Richards!
DDD - 9/1/2009, 12:01 AM
@Tyler Elizabeth Banks for my sheets! lol Get away from dat Seth guy and get over here with me! :D
DDD - 9/1/2009, 12:05 AM

The good news is we can have another CBM FAN CASTING for FF!!!

Right??? That's always fun, huh guys???

Anyone else just as excited as I am??? HUH???

...Jensen Ackles for Torch anyone?

J/K :}
Macksimus - 9/1/2009, 12:07 AM
Uh, I think the poll thing has been done to death. at least I hope so!
DDD - 9/1/2009, 12:08 AM
AHHH MAN! WHAT AH FREAKIN WASTE! THERE GOES PART 1 & 2....1st disney buys marvel...then this...what's next? reboot spiderman, hulk again....x-men...how bout wolverine...freakin lets streak punisher reboots 10 times in a row.

@TheMyth- when i open my gallery i wil put a call out and make some shirts about the views of citizens such as ourselves. I will use iconic figures from the Comic Books to do so. I will not go softly!
shibazz - 9/1/2009, 12:11 AM
We'll be alright as long as Josh and LEEE don't see this article LOL.

...otherwise, prepared to be POLLED!
Macksimus - 9/1/2009, 12:14 AM
Shibazz will not go softly! she is hard as a rock!! strong as a bear, sharp as an eagle! Whatch your back! Stand your ground! ... Im sorry, what were we talking about again?... I got your back girl!
KeepItReal - 9/1/2009, 12:20 AM
i would cast all no names. and the thing needs to look like the thing this time. like this.

grif - 9/1/2009, 12:23 AM
Shibazz, Preach it!!! It is rare enough to find people like you and I who are willing to accept what truly is. We can't afford to be quiet and soft. I honestly don't know how anyone can see this for what it is and NOT be scared shitless! It boggles my mind how some people have this 'derrrrr-duhh' reaction when I reveal these piles of info I have, like they don't care. I have a few friends local to me, and we do what we can, but it's hard to get people to listen.

lol KeepItReal, go to this article and read the posts by Shibazz and I near the bottom:

Myth... the best way to hide something is in plain sight. People see it but dont believe it on account they have become immunded to being lied to. I know I spelled that wrong.... dont care... Ill fix it in the morning!
KeepItReal - 9/1/2009, 12:25 AM
Origin story has been done. Personally I think they should fast forward it at least few years, and just jump right in on the action, with an older more experienced team.

Hugh Laurie as Mr.Fantastic

Ving Rhames as The Thing

Charlize Theron as The Invisible Woman

Bradley Cooper for Human Torch

With Ralph Fiennes as Doctor Doom

Triptheorist - 9/1/2009, 12:27 AM
The ideas at Fox just get stupider and stupider.
padidas - 9/1/2009, 12:31 AM
@Myth, @Sibazz, Ppl want to stick their heads in the sand where it comes to the world and our government, The WTO, and the corps taking everything over. They are too scared to stick their nose in. Only a few of us care enough to look at the EVILS of the big picture! I'M LISTENING!
DDD - 9/1/2009, 12:32 AM
Now Hugh Laurie and Billy Crudup and Charlize Theron are a step in the right direction!
DDD - 9/1/2009, 12:35 AM

KeepItReal - 9/1/2009, 12:44 AM
DDD, then welcome to the club bro. If people knew what our nations leaders do at the Bohemian Grove, there would be a revolution. Bilderberg, the Trilateral Commission... Democrat and Republican? pft, political partisonship is an illusion. They are all the same all the way back to Harry Truman and the New Deal. Obama is just another pawn in the game. He is no savior. Watch and see, I almost guarantee he will be the one to take away our right to bear arms, after that, our remaining days of 'freedom' are numbered. The only thing we can do is educate ANY and ALL who will listen, and try to sway those that won't.

Any one who is reading this, pick up a book called 'The End of America' by Naomi Wolf. After she wrote the book, she was added to the terrorist watch list... FOR WRITING A BOOK!
TheMyth - 9/1/2009, 12:52 AM
Man, its scary how Obama is doing things dont you think. Do you know that he is now up to 32 czars?! In our history of presidents they only ever had up to 7 or 8. Why does he need so many for?! and they all answer to him and only him. He is doing some crazy shit. People need to open their eyes! did you know this Myth? 32 czars?!

check out this article on it: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/07/29/AR2009072902624.html

Yup, they are for helping to govern in the wake of what is to happen soon. Rahm Emanuel is the [frick]ing son of Satan, and I don't mean it in some biblical sense, that man is... he is a ruthless cur who would see any who descent buried in mass graves, the shit that comes from his mouth...

How about the FEMA railway systems being constructed nation-wide, along with millions of black fiberglass coffins and concentration camps. THE SHIT IS BEING BUILT RIGHT NOW!!! LOOK IT UP PEOPLE, THE INTERNET IS STILL FREE THANK GOD! The government has wicked things in store for us.
TheMyth - 9/1/2009, 1:03 AM
Myth, the Bilderberg Group IS the WTO, World Tyrant Organization is what I call it!
DDD - 9/1/2009, 1:09 AM
I liked everyone but Jessica Alba, she just wasn't Sue Storm to me. Chris Evans and Michael Chiklis were awesome. I also hope Kerry Washington comes back as Alicia
BlackCat1 - 9/1/2009, 1:09 AM
I saw one of the concentration camps here in Washington state, USA, happened upon it by chance...there was a military guard out in the middle of nowhere in the woods with a fence and nothing above ground. He told me and my drunk friend to get out of there fast. I found out later from another acquaintance that was officially in the know and he said it was an underground prison in case of an emergency! That was damm scary! It really happened to me and my poor friend! He was scared out of his skin!
DDD - 9/1/2009, 1:13 AM
Chris Evans and Kerry Washington were good and had quite a chemistry between them! Ioan and Jessica need to be replaced and someone taller for Thing or really good CGI.
DDD - 9/1/2009, 1:16 AM
The original cast was far from perfect. Extremely far. Alba, Gruffoad (whatever his name is), and McMahon were totally wrong.
InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/1/2009, 1:17 AM
McMahon especially!
DDD - 9/1/2009, 1:21 AM

InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/1/2009, 1:22 AM
Doctor Doom should be extremely European.
DDD - 9/1/2009, 1:22 AM
@Tyler, how do you get the pictures beside each other like that?
DDD - 9/1/2009, 1:24 AM
DDD, your lucky you weren't shot and buried in those woods. I have a friend in the Army who is stationed in Texas. He says out west is where a majority of these are being built, including the railways and coffin storage.
TheMyth - 9/1/2009, 1:24 AM
MYth, I know I was very lucky I wasn't shot! My friend was so scared he moved to Montana. lol (but seriously)

Yes out west here is where they are. I know of two in Washington state but I ain't sayin' where here online! Yikes!
DDD - 9/1/2009, 1:26 AM
Well if you want extremely European, only one actor really comes to mind; Goran Visnjic. He wouldn't be my first choice though, not even my second or third.
Triptheorist - 9/1/2009, 1:28 AM

Hi Rumble! Haven't seen you since the Ninja-kitty debacle! LOL
DDD - 9/1/2009, 1:29 AM
DDD: I do it with microsoft paint. I copy an image on, say, Google Images, paste it onto a paint program. Then, I find another picture of the character from the comics and paste it onto the same paint program, and I line them up together. I save the new image and use the embed image thing in manage articles to upload it and then I just copy the code it gives me when it's uploaded, and paste it onto a comment. It's much simpler than it sounds.

And now if someone does speak out against what Obama does your offense is now compounded by being called a racist because you dared to question & challenge his decisions. BS man.
KeepItReal - 9/1/2009, 1:46 AM

DDD - 9/1/2009, 1:46 AM
@KIR...ya exactly one of my main points...and then you saw exact proof when someone made fun of Obama when they made a poster of him as the Joker...its all racist all of a sudden. But nobody really said anything about making fun of past presidents...its just a thing we do.

Actually, they don't have enough power yet to properly execute their goal, which is why they have to play with deceit and sleight of hand. They fear the people, and rightly so. They have to disarm us first, then, they have nothing left to really fear from us. And anyone here from Canada, if you think for one minute this doesn't effect you... guess again. What do you think will happen after the American people are completely subjugated? Your country and Mexico will be forcibly assimilated into ours, and by then it will be too late for you to do anything to stop it. You will become part of the police state known as the North American Emirates.
TheMyth - 9/1/2009, 2:05 AM
North American Emirates is a REAL thing! That ain't no lie or joke! I saw the official map for it, I mean one of the real ones in person. They are working towards that. They say it's just in case of emergency but I don't really believe it! They will fabricate their own emergency to justify putting the North American Emirates into being!
DDD - 9/1/2009, 2:10 AM
The map was broken down into districts not states. Across state border lines and country borderlines!
DDD - 9/1/2009, 2:11 AM
But I'm just going to enjoy myself as long as I possible can in what freedom we still have! And prepare for the worst like any good boyscout! :D
DDD - 9/1/2009, 2:14 AM

@KIR...laterssss
Rumblebeast - 9/1/2009, 2:26 AM
I sure wish Marvel under Disney's power could get back all their properties, especially from FOX! Them scum have pissed me off permanently! I'm a long itme Marvel fan and they've just murdered the Marvel universe they control! "Off with their heads I say!"
DDD - 9/1/2009, 2:34 AM
Then we'd be having a FF do-for-the first-time Marvel-style instead of reboot after stupid reboot, getting worse and worse and worse! :(
DDD - 9/1/2009, 2:37 AM
TheMyth - When Obama was running, I told those "Change is coming" chanting morons that what is the change he is mentioning. Yep! no answer from them. Then when I tell them he is a Marxist they didn't believe me. Majority didn't even know what a Marxist was. Now they are thinking holy shit what have we done.

Also the United States, Canada and Mexico will become The North American Union or the Emirates as TheMyth mentioned . I wouldn't be surprised that the U.S. Dollar, the Canadian Dollar and the Peso will be merged into one currency like the fake merged currency Amero.

Below is not a real currency, but a photo of the fake Amero.

If the U.S. keeps getting deeper in debt the possibility of U.S. being split up and sanctioned into different regions will materialize faster then the Great North American Merger.

Has anyone here seen Idiocracy? If not you need too.

As for the WTC, I have so much info the hair on your neck will stand straight up.

U.S. has dozens of concentration camps. Oklahoma even had one during WWII. It held several Nazi's scientist, some of them assisted in forming NASA.

Okay! Back to CBM.
SirPrize - 9/1/2009, 3:39 AM
Modern Marxism isn't Marxism. Marx is turning over in his grave! Modern Marxism is closer to Nazism or fascism. Fascist Tyranny! It's not everybody gets equal share, it's everybody gets their same meager share and take what ya git and don't throw a fit! The guys at the top get everything in reality! SOS. Different leader same leader!

Money rules the world. And yes WTC was a big set-up! Set up for socialism which is not socialism but totalitarian control! Complete and total control by the WTO. One world economic-military government. It's not a conspiracy or lie. It's unfortunately FOR REAL!

...and back to Comic Book Movies! And some fun! Oh, wait a minute the REAL WORLD just reared it's ugly head with the Fatherland...uh, I mean Disneyland...and Marvel! Whoops!
DDD - 9/1/2009, 5:08 AM

Maybe the Disney Store will carry some cool Marvel goodies. I would like to see a Marvel Store.

Right you are, my friend!

And YES! A Marvel store! I'll buy that fer a dollar! :D

I don't care who buys Marvel, I will always "Make Mine Marvel!" I know that it's kinda scary to have Marvel swallowed up by Nazis but Life goes on and Oh, well! Warners bought DC and DC is still DC.
DDD - 9/1/2009, 5:25 AM
cast is ok, adding a computer-animated thing, and more action against tough supervillans..... than the movie will be great!
phenomenon - 9/1/2009, 5:26 AM
You're right in a way @Phenom...but It would be nice if Reed Richards was an actor a little older and a more authoritative presence.
DDD - 9/1/2009, 5:29 AM
Sirprize, your grasp of what is happening in the U.S. right now is head and shoulders above most people's.

I for one was never fooled by the Bamsters bull hockey. But everyone else I know was. My family is angry at me because I don't support Obama. Their minds are soft soaped by the state run media (CNN)
DarthMulder - 9/1/2009, 5:30 AM
@Darth, My family agrees with my views about Obama, luckily! But the majority of the people are still backing him. I'm just glad that a president has to run again in four years and not get to remain indefinitely!
DDD - 9/1/2009, 5:34 AM
It would be nice to be able to immediately reboot a president until we get the one that's just right! But unfortunately politics are just like FOX...keep rebooting and just SOS or even worse! Cripes!
DDD - 9/1/2009, 5:42 AM
sweet, a second reboot!

:\
TheJester - 9/1/2009, 5:57 AM

Cool.
Bandrews1 - 9/1/2009, 6:19 AM
Thanks CBM for letting me in this is a great site. I finally get to join in on the lovely convo. Ok I just want to say as far as that whole Disney and Marvel. I"m sure it will be coo. However, this whole reboot of Fantastic four seems weird. I didn't mind the cast it was just the stories that went nowhere. FF def needs a better writer because I'm not sure what a different cast is gonna do if the script sux.
StrangemannX09 - 9/1/2009, 6:20 AM

ORIGINAL X-MEN only!!! REBOOT time! = CYCLOPS, BEAST, MARVEL GIRL, ICE-MAN, ANGEL & of course PROF X!!!

Leave the FF alone an bring on MOLE MAN attacking MANHATTAN in FANTASTIC FOUR 3!

LEEE777 - 9/1/2009, 7:07 AM
Let's not put the cart in fron of the horse here Leee.

IM2 is coming out really soon. We need Thor, Captain America and Avengers first.

FF, it's been done. X-Men, it's been done.

Fox is going to reboot shit on top of shit.

Thank you DarthMulder and DDD.
SirPrize - 9/1/2009, 7:19 AM
I am glad they are rebooting, but I really really hope they fix what was broken this time around.

If they don't, what's the point of even going there?

Unlike most people I am not so down on the casting. Alba is the weakest link in the chain, but I have seen worse.

In my opinion there were crucial details that were botched, and that is what really ruined it.
Like putting Dr. Doom on the space craft, and then making him solid metal.
Dr. Doom is one of the top most important villians in Marvel comics, and they completely ruined him.
DR Doom's true origin is SO much better. I beleive that the people who made this film did this out of an extreme lack of respect for and knowledge of the source material. Really I just can't understand why they would screw up Doom. That was the worst part.

The second worse part was Galactus. That one needs no explaination. Excrement and manure.

As far as how The Thing looked, I understand why people are dissatisfied with it. The face and head didn't look much like Thing, but the fingers and toes and the lack of a visible ear was dead on.
It wasn't perfect, but it could have been a lot worse.
MY main problem with Thing was his height. They always draw him towering over the other characters. As good as Chiklis was in that role, the height thing kept bothering me.

Now let's talk about The Silver Surfer.... Who ever wrote FF2 needs to read more comics.
In one of the very first, earliest Silver Surfer stories (2nd appearance I think) Marvel writers made it so that it was indeed the surf board that gives SS his powers. And indeed, Doom hatched a plot to steal it and get the power cosmic.
But that was a very old story from a very long time ago. Eventually Silver Surfer writers dropped the powered by the board thing altogether. Nowadays if you look up Silver Surfer in wikipedia or Marvel.com or anywhere else NONE of them say that his powers come from the board. So basically the people that made FF2 failed to do their homework.
I love the FF. I think it's a great book. But you really need someone who knows what the heck they are working with, to make a great movie about it.
DarthMulder - 9/1/2009, 7:20 AM
DARTH @ Don't be Dafted lol, IF we get a reboot it should be when MARVEL STUDIOS gets FF back!

FF movies wasn't perfect but was a lot better than SNORIGINS an X3!

A reboot done by FOX would be along them lines it wont be better than the last two FF movies!!!

FOX is using GALACTUS in SILVER SURFER!!!

BRING ON FF 3 ATTACK ON MANHATTAN!

FRICK THE REBOOT!

LEEE777 - 9/1/2009, 7:28 AM
I have no problem with a reboot of the Fantastic Four. I do like Chris Evans as the Human Torch. He has the right look and attitude for the part. I hope he can be retained. The first film was a complete POS and completely screwed up everything about them. Doom on the rocket with the FF? Need I say more? The second film captured the relationship between the Thing and Human Torch pretty well, and was actually a fun little movie, but loses points for Cumulogalactus- lameness!

Reboot the FF if necessary, but do it right. Doom's proper origin isn't difficult to explain, and could be told in a minute or less. And after he first puts on his mask, let's NOT show his face! Hint that he's disfigured, but leave the actual appearance to our imagination!

As for an X-Men First Class movie, I'm all for it if it really IS the "first class" and there is no Wolverine to be found. Scott, Jean, Bobby, Hank, Chuckie. And let them fight someone other than Magneto! Let's not turn Magneto into another Luthor, who is the mandatory villain for any Superman film.

comicb00kguy - 9/1/2009, 7:31 AM
A FOX Sequel or Reboot/Remake! Hmmm no brainer!

Leave the Reeboot when MARVEL gets 'em back! ; )

Comicb00k guy, you wont get CHRIS EVANS back an no one else, it'll be all or nothing!

CHRIS EVANS is the perfect HUMAN TORCH! FRICK the reboot!!!

; D

As yes to the ORIGINAL X-MEN! ; )
LEEE777 - 9/1/2009, 7:31 AM
DarthMulder....

Alba is eye candy and that is it. I have never seen an outstanding performance from her. I agree with you.

Chiklis for The Thing didn't bother me. The height didn't bother me. What bothered me was he looked like Nerf Man. He didn't look bad ass, or rough.
I like the fact he was able to change back in the last once for a brief time. That's the other problem I had with his character. All the other main Marvel heroes are capable of changing except him. The other three FF are capable of reverting to their human form. TT has paid his dues, give him some love.
SirPrize - 9/1/2009, 7:32 AM
Who wants DR DOOM again anyway, its like having LEX LUTHER over an over again! SH!TE!!!

MOLE MAN, etc etc, lot'sa villain out there! ; )
LEEE777 - 9/1/2009, 7:34 AM
One more thing- while I have no problem with bringing in a new cast and director for Spider-Man (if for no other reason than to hopefully spark some new ideas and a fresh take for the character), PLEASE, let's NOT reboot the origin. Everyone over 3 years old that cares at all about him knows Spidey's origin, and the story was done quite well in the first film. We just pick up where we left off and bring on the villains. We didn't need to start from scratch when 007 changed actors, or when the Doctor regenerated.
comicb00kguy - 9/1/2009, 7:35 AM
Comicb00kguy @ They will reboot the ORIGIN, this is FOX we're talking about here! GEEZUZ! ; D

Thats why it should be FF3!!!

FANTASTIC FOUR: ATTACK ON MANHATTAN!!!

(MOLE MAN)
LEEE777 - 9/1/2009, 7:37 AM

SirPrize - 9/1/2009, 7:44 AM
A bit of homage to the first issue of FF too! Nice. ; )
LEEE777 - 9/1/2009, 7:44 AM
LMAO @ SirPrize!!!! ; D
LEEE777 - 9/1/2009, 7:45 AM
Let's have a Marvel Zombies film after this! Then everyone can eat Galactus :-)
Imran - 9/1/2009, 7:56 AM
A MARVEL ZOMBIES is a must!

EAT THE FOX UNIVERSE!!! ; D
LEEE777 - 9/1/2009, 8:02 AM
@ Comicb00kguy: CUMULOGALACTUS??? rofl! Instant classic.

@ LEEE: I can't be that negative. At this early date I can at least have a LITTLE hope that it will be better.

Wait until the crappy details of the also screwed up reboot come in, and then you will see plenty of negativity coming from me.
You bet I wish marvel would get the rights back. But that's just wishful thinking, mang. We all know that's not how Fox rolls.

@ sirprize: LOL who is Nerfman?? I hear ya about Thing. It's unfortunate but like Daredevil's blindness, and Bruce Banner's curse, being stuck that way is part of what makes him who he is.
Did you ever read Secret Wars 1? On Battleworld Thing could turn human at will so while the rest of the heroes including Reed and Johnny left to return to Earth, he actually stayed behind alone. It was sad.
DarthMulder - 9/1/2009, 8:22 AM
@ DarthMulder - was a toy from the 70's. NerfMan was a reference. The Thing in the movie like someone glued a bunch of sponges to him.

I have SW 1 and 2. I remember that.

SirPrize - 9/1/2009, 8:29 AM
DARTH @ Yeah just hope they'd (FOX) would leave a reboot alone an just finish a FF3!

I think we all want MARVEL to reboot this baby!

CAPTAIN SPONGE lol! SirPrize!
LEEE777 - 9/1/2009, 8:40 AM
ahahahahaha! That's crazy... I mean I had the Nerf football, the baseball and bat, hell I even had Nerf darts but I never saw that! LOL wierd.

Yeah I was glad to see him get to change back for a little while too. I feel ya on that

DarthMulder - 9/1/2009, 8:54 AM
Cool Nerfman! I never heerd of him! :D
DDD - 9/1/2009, 9:04 AM
We Marvelites all want Marvel to get our beloved characters back and do 'em up right for once! But it don't seem to be happening anytime soon! We'll have to suffice with the ones they still own! Bring on Thor, Cap, and The Avengers! Yahoo-oo-oo!
DDD - 9/1/2009, 9:06 AM
@leee777 as your gf i think you shoud stop talkin sh*t for one day lmao xxx
lc - 9/1/2009, 9:08 AM
LEEE, is that really your girl man? Or is this like Mikesmom or dog or homeroom teacher or whatever
DarthMulder - 9/1/2009, 9:11 AM
@ DarthMulder - Leee and lc are the same person. He has two browsers up. =P
SirPrize - 9/1/2009, 9:13 AM
why does everyone insist on fan-casting famous actors all the time? I want no-name talent to help reboot FF. I don't want to be sidetracked by constantly being reminded who the actor is while I'm watching the movie.

ihmo
ItsNotASchooner - 9/1/2009, 9:19 AM
This article says nothing of a Fantastic Four reboot. It says "Since the deals are just getting made, it is unclear at present if any will return." This would indicate another sequel. How would the same cast be able to return for a reboot? And it's too soon for a reboot. 2005 & 2007. We're only in 2009!!!!
MIDAS - 9/1/2009, 9:28 AM
FOX SUCKS ASS!!!

I liked FF1 and FF2 but I would rather see Marvel snag back ownwership of what is rightfully theirs. Fox should give up all of the superhero movies they have rights to and stick to shitty dramas and romance crap. I want Marvel studios to make all of their characters correctly. Despite Spider-Man and Spider-man 2, I think they should just redo Spider-Man 3 instead of reboot the whole series and let Sam Raimi direct it the way he intended w/o Venom and then introduce him in 4 like he ultimately wanted to.
LaffaTaffa - 9/1/2009, 9:37 AM
@Tyler

I really like your choices for the FF cast. The only person that they should keep is Chris Evans as Human Torch. I really think he nailed that character well. Since they casted Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern which is fine with me now even though I wanted him as The Flash, I wouldnt mind seeing Chris Evans as The Flash now.
LaffaTaffa - 9/1/2009, 9:40 AM
I totally agree @Laffa, Chris Evans for Flash! I guess great minds DO think alike! lol
DDD - 9/1/2009, 9:42 AM
@LEE777

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEAH! REBOOT MAGNETO AS CLIVE OWEN. Hes got a good stature to portrait the Magneto's stregth...

Mr. Oldie Gandalf role playing the titan of magnetism? one wrd: FAIL!

THEY NEED A BIGGER BUDGET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can tell that the Movies didn't have too much to work with to go Over the top...

Also the movie needs MORE ACTION!!!

Give the Thing a REASON to say "IT'S CLOBBERING TIME" and let him actually Clobber some Villians.

LACK OF ACTION (FIGHT SCENCES) is what the Movies Really Lacked.

The Cast and set up was GREAT but there was never a Real BRAWL. What about the Mr. Fantastic HAMMER HANDS???

What about The DOOM BOTS???

I want to see some Real ALL OUT BATTLES!

For that...a BIGGER BUDGET is needed.

That movie barly had 150 Million to spend (If that cus I think it was Less)

Give them the 200 MILLION Dollars to spend and hook the Movie up like it should.
NubaX - 9/1/2009, 9:48 AM
You don't need a large budget to make one hell of a movie. District 9 proved that on a $30 million dollar budget.
SirPrize - 9/1/2009, 9:54 AM
Absolutely @SirPrize! Absolutely!
DDD - 9/1/2009, 9:55 AM
for casting in our new Marvel film universe i'd like to see Ryan Kwanten as my fave Havoc.Kurt Russel(a disney icon)as Cable. Jeffrey Donovan as Cyclops.
undeadpool - 9/1/2009, 9:56 AM
i just want to go on and on casting and imagining storylines from what could and should be made. i'm very optimistic for our viewing futures.
undeadpool - 9/1/2009, 10:00 AM
Optimism is good! Better than pessimism! Think on the bright side, My Momma Always Said!
DDD - 9/1/2009, 10:03 AM
O' course we been let down before, or maybe it's just my imagination running away with me! :D (just a little sarcasm, just a little)
DDD - 9/1/2009, 10:04 AM
Well, this is kind of good and bad news, lol!! Im glad its getting a reboot as the first one was awful (especially the origins of the FF and Doom) and the second was almost as bad (cloud Galactus!) Still, the bad point of course is the fact its being rebooted by Fox the very ones who [frick]ed it up in the first place!!! I was really hoping that Marvel had got their hands back on this! :(

Anyway, talking of reboots - check out an editorial i did a few months back on WHY i think the franchise needed a reboot! :)

joshw24 - 9/1/2009, 10:34 AM
clive owen as magneto?! hahahaha.. good to see some people have a sense of humor. these are some funny jokes.
InFamouslyCool - 9/1/2009, 10:37 AM
Mole man is a lame villain. A movie with him as a main villain would suck.

Dr. Doom is one of the most important villains in the entire Marvel universe, not just the FF. Of course he should be in a new movie in some shape or form. Doom hasn't been done right in any of the movies, I want to see him done faithfully to the comics for once.
InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/1/2009, 10:45 AM
TYLER @ DR DOOMS been DONE!!!

We need NEW! FRESHNESS!!!

JOSH is ALIVE!!!! ; D
