Why I Think 'Vibe' Is Part Of The CW's THE FLASH TV Series

Just my opinion on why Vibe was chosen to be one of the DC Comics' characters that'll appear on The Flash TV series, and a quick theory about the show. Have a read through it and be sure to leave your feedback in the usual place.

Why Vibe? Why Bring Vibe onto the new Flash TV Show? I Believe the answer to that can be summed up below...the New 52...Vibes new powers (read below) disrupt...you guessed it...the speed force!

Now a theory....

As I have browsed this site over the past few weeks I have seen many comments about people who are saying that "If Iris is black, then Wally has to be to"...or Wally has to be this...or that...black...adopted...But what about...from the future...from another timeline???

In the new 52 Wally is just being introduced...and presumably from another timeline or the future...and in the current timeline the flash is barry and kid flash is bart...so maybe just maybe...we wont need to concern ourselves with wally's race because if they new 52 it then a) wally will be from a timeline where iris is white?... or b) he will be from the future where his family tree is so intermixed that he is white...

Those are my thoughts!!!

PS (Credit to creator) check out the dope Gustin as Flash pic I saw!

We shall see whether the Vibe character proves interesting or not. As for his comic, the public has already spoken. His book had poor sales and thus DC terminated it after only a short run.

If he's black... what's the big deal?

Poor sales doesn't mean a book is uninteresting.

Wallace West will be black. They are not going to use alternate timelines to explain the race of a character. That would be crass.

I agree with you on the point that Wally West might not even show up. Certainly not for several seasons.

As far as that Q&A, if you re-read it, Booth is really talking about the old version of Wally being created during a specific time, and that take might not be appropriate for this modern interpretation (New 52). He isn't talking about different timelines within comic books.

How about Vibe gets his powers from the incident, and uses them to be a petty crook to make ends meet up. He has his run ins with the Flash and they eventually become teammates.

Liking the Gustin costume, but WHY is it impossible for people to get the Lightning Bolt right??C'mon guys. And just to weigh in,i don't think it's "racist" to want much loved characters to appear onscreen as they are in comics, because the reality is even something small like race change in a show usually means other changes are probably in there too.The source material is why the show was made in the first place right? So why change anything? It's 2014.If people are even thinking about racism it's just living in the past pretty much

@chewish

@shangho You should be more understanding about the logo situation. When Flash appears in any animated stuff, he sports a logo just like the one in the fan art as opposed to the comics where he has his classic iconic logo.

It is certainly not racist to want the character to remain true to the comics so let's please not get into that anymore. With that being said, I don't see the big deal about this change considering the new 52 lack of Wally. I do understand the purist argument though.

I still can't bring myself to care about Vibe. I'm glad he's showing up, but we need superheroes who are friends with the Flash to show up.

Elongated Man

Green Lantern

The Atom

Zatanna

Black Canary

All of these characters are have had long friendships with the Flash and would make more sense to appear.

Good article... It also makes sense that there are other new superheroes after the accident at STAR Labs.

@crashrendar - "i know many fanboys are purists, but where is the line between purist and racist?"

Yes there is.... there is also a line that when changing so many characters that are originally white to black becomes racist. Why is it okay to do at all? Are they saying white characters are expendable? Unnecessary? Not as important? Where does it end? When we have every single superhero in every race?

Why not simply create new characters like Diggle in Arrow? Like Batwing? Those are both amazing characters that are original.

If anything changing the races is insulting to everyone. not only does someone lose a character, but the new character is a sorry attempt at pandering. A second-rate hand-me down.

Vibe must break-dance. All. of. the. time. In every scene. No matter what! If he's in a scene, then he's "poppin' and lockin'".
