It's still in theaters near me. Might check it out one more time before it leaves. Amazing film.

@Origame - It was number 2 at the American box office this weekend, after 12 weeks. It beat Thor 4 and Nope, which’ve been out for about a month, and tied with that DC Super-Pets animated movie that came out two weeks ago.

Top Gun has legs, and I’m sure if Paramount had things their way, it would stay in theaters through Christmas.

@Origame - same here. It was a great experience, but I think I'll be spending my money on LotR extended edition this week. Have seen Top Gun on the big screen, but LotR not yet

Bogus that 4K w/HDR isn't digitally available until November...

I was never a fan of the original. To me it was too 80s even by 80s standards LOL. The sequel though, it's in my top 3 best cinematic experiences this year along with Elvis and The Batman. Maverick is a sequel done right.

@bcom - This more times than not goes back to how old you are with it comes to a statement like that...if you were not alive when Top Gun came out then you're not going to understand just how massive that movie was.It was EVERYWHERE for a year...radio..every media...it was EVERYWHERE!

And using "too 80s" for an action film is a damn good thing for an action movie these days...a damn good thing!

@jst5 - I was 9 years old when the original came out. I remember going to see it with my Dad and brother. Once it came out on VHS (yes, VHS lol) it got thrashed at my house. I don't know, I just never really got into it. I thought all the main characters were assholes lol.

One of the main things I really like about the sequel is that Maverick has matured. He's still pushing boundaries but one trap that a lot of these 'legacy sequels' fall into is trying to make the main character or characters the same as they were in the original movie even though they are somewhat older. Maverick does a really good job at portraying Maverick as an older and somewhat wiser pilot who still has issues dealing with the traumatic events of his past. I respect the fact they didn't try and make him act like the cocky 20 something year old he was in the first movie.

@bcom - I mean TG showed young...cocky...head strong males of the 80's.As someone who played college football during the 80's it showed the mind set of an alpha male...damn I miss the 80's and 90's!

Glorious movie and I am happy I got to see it on the big screen. Doubt the home experience is gonna be the same though, but I'll give it another go for sure anyway
