New Black Panther: Wakanda Forever promo art has been revealed that puts the spotlight squarely on Tenoch Huerta's Namor the Submariner, a character who looks set to bring devastation to T'Challa's home...

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever looks set to be the best Marvel Studios movie since, well, Black Panther, and there's a lot of excitement among fans for Namor the Submariner's MCU debut. Played by Tenoch Huerta, this take on the character will hail from a South American Atlantis-like nation called Talocan.

However, while Namor's background may have slightly changed, his appearance has not. Yes, there have been some minor alterations during the transition from page to screen, but everything from the green trunks to the wings on Namor's ankles point to us getting a faithful take on the anti-hero.

This is evident from a closer look at the character that's come our way courtesy of some official toy packaging and promo art.

This Namor looks like he hails from an ancient civilization rich in history, and during a recent interview with Variety, Huerta opened up on getting to don that "amazing" costume for the first time. "It's your skin, your voice, your talent, your story. It's overwhelming," he said of the experience. "I’m excited and I’m so happy to be here."

"I want to say something really fast about inclusion. I come from the hood and, thanks to inclusion, I’m here. I wouldn’t be here without inclusion," he continued. "A lot of kids in the hood are here looking at us dreaming to be here. And they’re going to make it! They’re going to make it!"

It's going to be very interesting to see what Marvel Studios does with Namor, especially as fans have been waiting for his big screen debut since 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger. He could be a one-and-done foe or a recurring presence in the MCU, and we wouldn't bet against seeing him assemble alongside the Thunderbolts down the line.

Black Panther Monopoly? Why didn't you put that in the title!?

Kidding aside, I like this whole Aztec and colorful business going on. Namor looks great

True fans will get their "elf in a speedo moment". Then he will get dressed.

@Waddles - exactly. I also like the whole background in general too. Far more interesting than Atlantis.

Ofcourse, there will be indeed #NotMyNamor people that disagree with me. And to them I say: if you want your Namor, pick up the comic you want it to be like

@Waddles - Well, to be fair, there is a point at which a character being portrayed so differently from what they are, can feel a bit disheartening. That line for me is usually reached when the change is just being done for the sake of it with no good reason for it. Or when the new version is so different that it might just as well be a different character all together. And I think it can be argued that this Namor is way past that line. His kingdom won't even be called Atlantis.

Personally I love this new version because it looks awesome, distinguishes it from Aquaman's near perfect interpretation of Atlantis and I wanted to see more native cultures getting the Wakanda treatment. Also I never cared about speedo-Namor.

Maybe they could have gone tge extra mile and just renamed the character.

@Waddles - Sure, there will always be hobby complainers.
And to be honest, if it had just been the skinwashing (no big fan of that in any direction) I would have probably also said: this is cynical and makes no sense! Atlantis is a very european myth after all.
But no, they clearly had a vision that not only makes sense, but also drastically improves the character. This is how this is done right!

We went from only black leather suits, to comics accurate suits, to toy suits designed by Hasbro to be bright and colorful and appeal to 3 to 11 year olds.

These Marvel characters belong in GI JOE and HE-MAN toy lines, not big budget million dollar franchise films.

This is shaping up to be one of my favourite adaptations of a character.
I love the style and influences in the costume.

Just as hyped for Namor in this movie as anything else, interested to see where they take his character and where he shows up next

The cultural significance they've tied into Namor's arc here is something I look forward to. Might be Marvel's best phase 4 movie yet.

I bet one of those unannounced phase 6 titles is going to be a Namor movie depending on how well he's recieved

@Goldboink - Never know, we're due a proper hulk solo movie, so universal could do a 2 for 1 deal with Marvel and finally let it happen.

I wonder what Namor would've looked like had Marvel managed to use the character and Atlantis before WB did with Aquaman....🤔
