Some newly revealed Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness concept art reveals a slightly more comic accurate take on Defender Strange, while we also have a final design for the MCU's Stephen Strange.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness kicked off with a Stephen Strange Variant, dubbed "Defender Strange," racing to the Book of Vishanti alongside America Chavez. Ultimately, he's killed by the Scarlet Witch's demon and later used as a vessel for the MCU's former Sorcerer Supreme.

That undead Strange delivered some of the movie's coolest moments during its final act, but some newly revealed concept art showcases a comic-accurate take on Benedict Cumberbatch's Defender.

Ian Joyner, the Doctor Strange sequel's Visual Development Supervisor, took to social media to share some of his work and it quite clearly borrows a lot from the costume worn by Strange in 2011's Defenders #1. This take is a little more in line with the source material, though what ended up on the big screen obviously wasn't too far off either this or what fans have seen on the page.

"Watching this evolve from a painting/design in our department to the actual costume built by Graham Churchyard and his incredible team was/is something that will never get old," Joyner later added, sharing another piece of concept art with a final approved design for the MCU's Strange.

We'll no doubt see plenty more Doctor Strange Variants down the line, especially as the hero now has an acute awareness of both the Multiverse and incursions that could put the MCU's existence at risk.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is now playing in theaters.

Love the more comic-accurate facial hair, always bugged me that Benedict had that goatee instead lol.

That's a great look. Kinda wish they went with that instead.

And I keep wondering, were using the other members of the comic Defenders ever considered? They brought in all those Illuminati members, so it isn't that impossible to think that I guess

All these concept arts are going to make a great The Art of Multiverse of Madness book.

I think (Storywise) I would have preferred Defender Strange to be a part of the Illuminati with America Chavez being his adopted daughter after her incident. Before the movie came out, I was under the impression that the Illuminati would be using Chavez as a way to peer through multiple realities to safeguard their own (probably through some Professor X manipulation or Tech). Then they could have probably dived back into the other Dark tainted Strange that asked to be destroyed. Either way...I thought the movie was okay. It just kind of bothers me when you step away from a movie thinking more about another characters arc rather than the main characters arc.
