Joss Whedon Responds To Accusations Of Abusive On-Set Behaviour; Fires Back At "Rude" JUSTICE LEAGUE Cast Joss Whedon Responds To Accusations Of Abusive On-Set Behaviour; Fires Back At "Rude" JUSTICE LEAGUE Cast

Following a long list of accusations of abusive and unprofessional behaviour, disgraced director Joss Whedon has finally responded in a new interview, firing back at the cast of Justice League.

Avengers director Joss Whedon was at the center of a lot of controversy last year after accusations of "gross, abusive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable" behaviour during 2017's Justice League reshoots were leveled at him by Cyborg actor Ray Fisher. This prompted others to weigh in, with Gal Gadot claiming that the filmmaker threatened to "end her career," and several cast members from Buffy the Vampire Slayer coming forward to share their own, pretty shocking stories.

The filmmaker didn't respond at the time, but has now fired back during a lengthy interview with NY Magazine.

The full thing has been shared in a Twitter thread by Jumbled Beats, but the gist of it is this: Whedon takes very little responsibility for anything, dismisses Gadot's claims outright ("English is not her first language, and I tend to be annoyingly flowery in my speech"), and even goes so far as to suggest that there might have been some sort of "malevolent force" conspiring against him from the start. He doesn't come right out and accuse Zack Snyder of putting Fisher up to making the allegations, but the implications are clear.

He doesn't go into much detail about working on Justice League or the rest of the individual cast, but does mention that he's never worked with "a ruder group of people."

You can check out the thread for yourselves below.

Whedon is clearly attempting to paint himself as the victim here, but this interview is unlikely to gain him much support. What do you guys make of his comments? Be sure to share your thoughts down below.

You’ve got to be rude with these people, they will be rude to you don’t worry, only thing you have to worry about is them playing the victim and you losing your reputation and livelihood that’s all, you know what, maybe just direct and shut up, be like yes your Lordship, me Lady, that stuff

Just playing devils advocate, I really don’t care what’s going on here. They probably all suck

I didn't really like either version of Justice League, but boy is the whole thing surrounding it an actually interesting story to follow.

Kinda makes me feel bad for Snyder (which I already kinda did). He just wanted to make a movie, but all these outside forces just keep ruining it. This thing really is a mess.

@dragon316 - The mask has finally slipped ladies and germs. We all assumed Draggy Boy was a troll pretending to be stupid, and this just proves it. No one in their right mind could possibly think DC “gets their characters right” in these films. There’s plenty of good things to say about the Snyderverse (or so I’ve been told, personally I think they’re dogshite films) but “getting the characters right” is the thing these movies are the least competent at.

@bkmeijer - It's crazy! WB wanted to get away from the drama and backlash (especially from a bad Snyder film), so they got Snyder to leave citing the personal drama he was going through. Then they brought in a guy who said he was tired of filming Blockbusters no more than a year before that. Then the movie came out and it was trash which caused drama and backlash towards WB. Then we find out Snyder didn't leave, he was fired, which caused drama and backlash towards WB. Then news of a Snyder Cut comes out, creating drama and backlash towards WB. Then everything with Whedon came out, which caused drama and backlash towards him and WB. Then Snyder releases his Snyder Cut which reignites that drama towards WB but not as much as before because people are happy. Ironic how in trying to steer away from drama and backlash, all WB did was create more drama and backlash for themselves. Makes you think that despite people's feelings on Snyder, it would have been in everyone's best interest if they just let Snyder's arc run its course until it eventually got reset which was the plan from the beginning.

@CaptainFlapjaks - I think that if Snyder got to make the theatrical cut, it probably would've ended up much shorter than ZSJL too.

Anyway, Ray has reacted in the meantime too. So, the saga continues...

@bkmeijer - You’re right it’s all a mess.. WB has handled DC atrociously. Announcing directors, having them all appear in Comic Con.. then half of them being fired or them leaving, announcing a ton of films and not even half of them being made, and behind the scenes of Justice League, Suicide Squad etc.. a shambles.. but in the end I think Snyder done brilliantly between all that cause I found Zack Snyder’s Justice League to be a really good film.

@JohnCastillo - it was way too long, but it definitely had elements (Cyborg, Flash) that I thought were weird to cut out in the theatrical version

@bkmeijer - I didn’t mind the length, seen it multiple times and it goes by really quick for me, I just loved the atmosphere of the thing, I actually felt the dread of Steppenwolf and what was coming unlike the theatrical, loved the music the additional character development scenes.. it was one of my favourite films of last year. And Fisher was actually really good in it. I mean that Flash scene at the end has become one of my favourite CBM scenes.. to think I would have never seen it had they never released the Snyder Cut lol. But ofcourse these are just my opinions, it’s cool if someone didn’t like it.

@JohnCastillo - aside from that piece of music played when Wonder Woman was on screen and some other minor nitpicks, I overall still like it. It just felt a little too much like the movie from before the final editing process. Personally, I think it could cut atleast an hour and still be equally enjoyable.

And if its an hour or so shorter, you can even rewatch it more. I'd see that as a win too.
