Ray Fisher has already responded to Joss Whedon's recent tell-all interview, but the Justice League actor has now torn in to the disgraced Avengers director with another series of Tweets.

Filed Under: Justice League

Yesterday, NY Magazine released an interview with disgraced director Joss Whedon which recounted the numerous allegations levelled at the Avengers filmmaker from the likes of Gal Gadot, Charisma Carpenter, and Ray Fisher.

The Cyborg actor accused Whedon of "gross, abusive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable" behaviour during Justice League reshoots, while also calling out the likes of Geoff Johns and Walter Hamada for enabling him. The resulting investigation went nowhere, but Fisher maintains that he had good reason to speak up.

Whedon pretty much dismisses all of these claims in the interview, countering that the only reason he reduced Cyborg's role in the theatrical cut of the movie is because Fisher was a "bad actor." He also insinuates that Fisher might have been encouraged to falsely accuse him by Zack Snyder.

Fisher sent out a Tweet in response last night, but has now followed up by dragging Whedon for having "nearly two years to get his story straight" and still somehow managing to make things even worse for himself.

We're sure Fisher will have more to say, and wouldn't be surprised if some of the other people who've accused Whedon of inappropriate behaviour weigh in over the next few days.

I like Ray, he a good actor and he clearly is in the right here. He needs to just get out of his own way a little. Joss is doing all the work for him

TheHumanSpider2 - 1/18/2022, 1:47 PM
@Twenty23Three - Wonder Woman launched Gal's career, same with Aquaman and Jason's career, Justice League could've done the same for Ray...of course he is pissed!
BigPhilbowski
BigPhilbowski - 1/18/2022, 1:59 PM
@TheHumanSpider2 - no, no it wouldn't have. The snyder cut was terrible. No way he was launching a career off of that. And especially not off the original snyder cut which would have been made on an even smaller budget if zack never left

@TheHumanSpider2 - No reason. No [frick]ing reason! He has long lost the moral high ground.

@TheHumanSpider2 - And again Ray still would have played Cyborg again as early as this year in the Flash and he could have had a solo movie or show especially with HBO Max, but unfortunately his insecurities got in his own way

Yes Joss is an asshole and him following WB's demands ruined the Justice League (although the Snyder Cut isn't that much better), but Ray ruined his own career because he just couldn't handle his role being downsized (just like Flash's was as well) and so he falsely called it racism and in the most vague ways possible

@Twenty23Three -

I don't know him and I don't know what he's like in real-life, but I like his work as an actor and he always had my sympathy about this whole nightmare. But I still think it's time for him to let the past behind and dedicate himself to his work. He has clearly shown in the Snyder Cut that he's far from the bad actor Whedon says he is.

As for Whedon, his career is already over so no point to start the whole argument again. Whedon's attempt to restore his reputation has backfired spectacularly, portraying him as even worse than before (tellingly, his justification about Gal Gadot's accusations - that his true intentions were "lost in translation" - are even more condescending toward her than what she previously denounced).
Amuro

@lordSTALE -

Honestly, I can understand his frustration. Zack Snyder was making a movie where he was the true protagonist, it was supposed to be his big break as an actor, and then everything went wrong and suddenly he has a hugely reduced role where he is just the black guy of the team and you could almost suppress his part completely from the movie. And the theatrical cut has cut so much of his performance that it really managed to make him look like a bad actor, while the Snyder Cut has indeed shown that he had a major role and that he managed to deliver quite a performance.

Now, should he have taken a different approach to the whole scandal ? Probably, yes. But at the same time, without him, we wouldn't know about the abuse on Justice League and previous Whedon's shows (and I'm almost certain it must also have happened on the sets of the Avengers movies, though Marvel Studios and its actors remain quiet about it).

That being said, it doesn't seem to me that Whedon might be racist, he just seems to be a big jerk to everyone (but especially women).
lordSTALE
lordSTALE - 1/18/2022, 2:23 PM
@Amuro - You can understand the frustration, but you must also understand that reacting as much as he did to that frustration so publicly literally destroyed any chance he had of getting back what he lost

He nuked that bridge. He had a few projects still open to him, until he started this crusade. Co-starring in Flash could have lead to him being on that new Justice League team rumored to be at the end of that movie. Theatrical and Streaming options all gone, just because he NEEDED to destroy Hamada after Ass Whedon was already toast
OmegaDaGrodd
OmegaDaGrodd - 1/18/2022, 2:26 PM
@Amuro - I think this largely hits on why I'm so frustrated by Fisher. I have a natural urge to side with someone claiming abuse, and as the facts of this has come out I feel more and more like this is much more about Fisher's role getting cut down, which is a pretty sickening connection. An abused employee and a disgruntled employee are hugely different and I'm pretty disgusted that he represented himself as the prior when it really sounds like he was the latter
Amuro
Amuro - 1/18/2022, 2:33 PM
@lordSTALE -

Yes, while I think he was right to denounce the abuse initially, I think he should have stopped as soon as Warner opened an internal investigation. At that point, he already encouraged a lot of Whedon's victims to speak up, it was no longer the "Ray Fisher" case.

His inability to move on has clearly damaged his career. The studios are wary of employing him because they fear what he could say later.

And to think that all that started because some Warner executives thought that they had to fix what wasn't broken to begin with (and managed to break it in the process).
TheHumanSpider2
TheHumanSpider2 - 1/18/2022, 2:35 PM
@BigPhilbowski - No

@Drace24 - No

@lordSTALE - He was the main character in the Snyder Cut, it would have launched his career, not to mention, Warner having a comic book movie with a black lead one year before Black Panther.

Fisher didnt ruin his career, racists assholes (not only Whedon) decided that having a black main character was a bad idea, and completely butchered both Victor and the movie.
The Snyder Cut is a better movie than the Whedon Cut, this is an objective fact.
Amuro
Amuro - 1/18/2022, 2:41 PM
@OmegaDaGrodd -

I agree. I understand Fisher's frustrations with getting his role reduced to... well, almost nothing (and it destroyed the whole movie by reducing it to the most generic superhero formula), but that doesn't mean that he was a victim of racism.

Even if Whedon really did want to destroy his career by reducing his screentime and making him look like a bad actor on screen (which could be the case since that's what the theater cut achieved), it might be more about Whedon having a tense relationship with Fisher himself, not about Whedon being racist (as I said, I don't think he is, he just seems to be a jerk with everyone and especially with women).
lordSTALE
lordSTALE - 1/18/2022, 3:41 PM
@TheHumanSpider2 - And his career could have still been launched after it was released; starring role in Flash, being on that new JL team they're making and a solo project after that. But instead he gave into his insecurities, tried to take down Hamada too and now basically has no career at all

Yeah because black main characters aren't all over the place. Snyder robbing him of a good origin movie and instead stuffing it into the first Justice League movie lead to this.

Absolutely no one has complained about Whedon being racist before or after Fisher, in his decades of working in Hollywood, especially the other actors of color Whedon supposedly marginalized by cutting a ridiculously long movie to better play in theaters. And pretty much everyone who listened to Fisher NOT say what happened and then years later come with that nothingburger, came to the same conclusion, Fisher just couldn't handle having his role reduced and it wasn't racism 🤷🏽‍♂️

The Snyder Cut is the better movie, but it's still pretty bad and if that movie was released in theaters in 2017, it would have also gotten bad reviews and still bombed. You may notice that even the positive reviews for that bloated pretentious cringe-fest, all seem to say it's better than the original but never that it's good on its own, only ever by comparison. Almost all the story problems are still there, and brand new problems are introduced

TheHumanSpider2
TheHumanSpider2 - 1/18/2022, 5:49 PM
@lordSTALE - But he was going to be a supporting character in the "FLASH" movie, while he indisputably is the main character in the Snyder Cut.
I think I told this to you yesterday, I agree Fisher is too vague about his accusations, but not only did he went against a sacred cow (well, FORMER sacred cow), he went against freaking WARNER, and he is no Gal Gadot (who pointed at specific events in her accusations) or Ben Affleck, he is just starting in the industry...also, at this point I think most actors involved signed an NDA (same with the Avengers films), and while Gal, or Ben, or Jason can risk it, this guy...well, he cant.
Take a look at his IMDB page, just TV series, Justice League is still his ONLY movie, no studio is hiring him, is like he went against someone who is able to "finish your career", I wonder who, maybe the same asshole who told that to Gal Gadot...

About Whedon being racist, Jason Momoa supported Fisher's claims on that subject.

The Snyder Cut came out, and got positive reviews, again, this is an objective fact, not up for debate (we can debate if you liked the movie or not, but the critical recepcion was good), and about BO numbers...I guess we'll never know, I think a 3 hours long cut would have been "well" received by audiences in 2017...by "well", I mean around $800M, which is a good number, but still a flop considering how much the movie costed, and the fact that the movie was called "JUSTICE LEAGUE".
Still, why are we even talking about the quality of the Snyder Cut?

@Drace24 - For some people, social media is all they have.
lordSTALE
lordSTALE - 1/18/2022, 6:35 PM
@TheHumanSpider2 - He could have had a solo movie before the Justice League film instead of getting a stripped down version of it crammed into a Justice League origin film. Instead he was the main character in a bad overlong movie.

And now after the JL debacle he could have a career bolstered by being a supporting character in the Flash, being a part of the new JL team, with a solo project immediately after, instead of only having a miniseries in the last 3 years and no career options on the horizon 🙃

And it's been proven that there was no NDA, and after WB decided to start an investigation mostly based on his accusations and even bringing in the investigator he demanded, he wouldn't accept the results from that investigator and even publicly bashed them

While you're on IMDb look at his future projects, you'll find nothing. When there could have been Flash as well as other DC projects. The Flash was also cutdown by the Whedon JL, but Ezra didn't bitch and moan so he has upcoming projects. Ray played himself and got himself on the blacklist

Yes and those positive reviews all say it's just good compared to the original NOT a good movie on its own. It would have gotten bad reviews in 2017 and bombed, obvious fact. No one knew how badly Whedon changed Snyder's film, it didn't come out until after that opening weekend that Snyder's vision was changed severely, I remember the DC fanboys arguing that it was Snyder's movie even up to that Thursday. So that opening weekend would have been the exact same result under $100M, probably actually worse because 4+ hours would mean less screenings so less money 😂

I mentioned the quality once, and just as a side note and it's like you took it personally and went on a whole tangent about it, and now we're here 🤷🏽‍♂️
TheHumanSpider2
TheHumanSpider2 - 1/18/2022, 7:20 PM
@lordSTALE - So, you are basically saying he should've closed his mouth, lower his head, and just expect the studio to throw him a bone, while Whedon and people in charge just get away with it?
I dont know Fisher, maybe he is a jerk, but in these 5 years he has shown integrity, similar to Dave Bautista calling out DISNEY just to defend his friend.
And Fisher is a good actor, he committed career suicide to expose a filmmaker and an studio that played him and everyone involved in that movie dirty.
"and after WB decided to start an investigation mostly based on his accusations"
Exactly.

And why are we still talking about the Snyder Cut?
JohnCastillo
JohnCastillo - 1/18/2022, 8:40 PM
@BigPhilbowski - 😂 the SnyderCut is far from terrible.. and it’s generally well received so terrible is your own personal opinion not everyones. Meaning Fisher would have had a career off of it, Cyborg solo film, multiple appearances as Cyborg thus becoming a bigger name, meaning more roles offered… it’s logic.
lordSTALE
lordSTALE - 1/18/2022, 9:32 PM
@TheHumanSpider2 - Well once he got the investigation with the investigator he demanded, yeah he should have just let that play out and stop crying about it so publicly. But it's obvious he craves attention. And when his requested investigator didn't find any of the racism claims he was using, he lashed out at them because he knew that spotlight was about to fade and instead of just waiting for Flash and more DC projects he started his crusade against Hamada

Hamada didn't take charge of DC until January 2018, which was after Justice League had already released and bombed, so why is he the one that needs to apologize for what happened with Whedon. And Whedon has be blacklisted and canceled. What else does he want?

And do not equate this attention whore with Batista, please. He committed career suicide going after a person who had nothing to do with any of it because the investigation didn't go the way he wanted. And he's a mediocre actor at best.

Yeah that's "Exactly" the point where he should have stopped and let it go, but he's a dumbass attention whore and his current circumstances are the consequences

I'm replying to your comments on that turd of a movie. If you stop talking about it, then I will too. But here I am replying to your last question about that pretentious dumpster fire 🤦🏽‍♂️

Every YouTuber reviewing this has come clean that they enjoyed this movie. Even people who notoriously hate Snyder like this guy:

@JohnCastillo - agreed on all fronts.

Everything is subjective, absolutely, but many people on this site just have a huge hard on for hating Snyder and Fisher… and it shows. It’s one thing to say “I didn’t like his performance” but some idiot was telling me yesterday that Anthony Daniels performance as C-3PO back in the day was better than Ray’s performance. Come on man. BigPhilbowski
BigPhilbowski - 1/19/2022, 2:19 PM
@TheLobster - "The film was seen as an overall success by comparison to what came before it". That's an interesting way of saying its one of the least viewed dc movies around. 1/3 of viewers turned it off and didn't finish it. Like hell, even Mortal Kombat tripled it's viewership. Total success and definitely not a flop.
JohnCastillo
JohnCastillo - 1/19/2022, 4:30 PM
@BigPhilbowski - I think you’re only taking HBO Max US numbers into account it was a bigger hit when you factor in the worldwide viewership. In Spain it was if I remember correctly the most watched film on the platform in 2021. Big hit in countries like India etc. It’s harder to actually find solid numbers for streaming things. But one thing that’s for sure is it wasn’t a “flop” which you tried to make it seem like it was in your original comment.
BigPhilbowski
BigPhilbowski - 1/19/2022, 4:43 PM
@JohnCastillo - it was literally a flop. WB lost huge amounts of money on it and barely anyone saw it. And of those that did, only 1/3 finished it. So tell me how any of that equates to success in your world.
