One of those featurettes is titled "In Search of a Soul". You could kinda say the same thing about the movie itself.

Oh... This movie happened?

Very surprising it made that much. Usually is a pretty good take, but when you have a huge universe to set up, it seems so little.

I was very excited for this because i'm a big Cruise fan and love the idea of a monster universe, but god damn was I disappointed in this. Cruise was pretty good, but just couldn't make this dull/mediocre movie entertaining. A few good parts and SFX here and there, but just disappointing. The first 2 Brendan Fraser Mummy films were much better than this. Still hold up as well.

I didn't hate it like most people do. As a launcher for the "dark universe", it could have been much better, but I see great possibilities in what they're doing.

@ImmovableForce - Great possibilities are not enough! I kind of hate the mentality of "Well the next entry could be better or they could make great things". You need to make a good first impression so people will stay and know they'll make something just as good if not better.

I am surprised it got that high. International markets have really changed the game!

MultiMedia996 - 9/9/2017, 5:22 PM
@Forthas - Changed it for the worse.

@MultiMedia996 - Why????
MultiMedia996
MultiMedia996 - 9/9/2017, 6:39 PM
@Forthas - It's changed it for the worse because now studios need to make the films more accessible to a foreign audience. As in dumbing the stories down or making things too simple. It's why something like the last two Transformers have done better in say China then hear in the US where at least The Last Knight bombed here (Though as a whole the movie has made far less then the last four before it worldwide which is a good thing). Mike and Jay explain why this movie was made to cater to foreign audiences in their Half in the Bag episode on it.

@MultiMedia996 - But isn't the opposite kind of true. I have heard it said that European films have a hard time finding an American audience even though they are good films. Two such examples are the "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Let The Right One In. Both were very good films but American film producers felt it necessary to "Americanize" the films even though it did not really make the films any better.

Dunkirk made 480 mill on a 100 mill budget.

@NotoriousWulf23 - Even so I doubt they'll greenlight the sequel.

@NotoriousWulf23 - Yeah, that's a success.

The mummy's budget was between 125-195 mil.

Plus Dunkirk is still in theaters.

On a 125mil budget, this is an easy success though. So I doubt they scrap the universe like they did after Dracula Untold, which was a far better movie and intro.

*Hopefully* they learn from this and put out a better product.

it was a long and harrowing journey, but I finally made my way to the comment section... For a moment there, I thought the YouTube clips would go on forever.

Cant they just reinclude Dracula untold? Because this was a weak start to the dark universe.
