Cameras started rolling on Dune: Part Two in Budapest (a photo from the set did the rounds online) last week, but Warner Bros. has now made it official by announcing that filming is underway with a production still and updated cast list.

Nothing too revealing, unfortunately, but the clapperboard does appear to give us a first look at the fairly basic title logo along with the tagline "Long Live the Fighters!" This comes from the Fremen mantra, Ya hya chouhada Muad'Dib (long live the fighters of Muad'Dib).

Check out the Tweet below along with a new synopsis, and be sure to keep an eye out for more set snaps as filming continues.

The big-screen epic continues the adaptation of Frank Herbert’s acclaimed bestseller with returning stars including Oscar nominee Timothée Chalamet (Call Me by Your Name), Zendaya (Spider-Man: No Way Home), Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning), Oscar winner Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men, Being the Ricardos), Oscar nominee Josh Brolin (Avengers: Endgame), Stellan Skarsgård (Avengers: Age of Ultron), Dave Bautista (Thor: Love and Thunder), Oscar nominee Charlotte Rampling (45 Years), and Stephen McKinley Henderson (Fences).

Also joining the returning cast are Austin Butler (Elvis, Once Upon A Time…In Hollywood) as the notorious Feyd Rautha and screen legend Christopher Walken (The Deer Hunter, Hairspray) as the Emperor. Florence Pugh (Black Widow, Little Women), Léa Seydoux (Crimes of the Future) and Souheila Yacoub (the No Man’s Land series, Climax) round out the extensive ensemble.

This follow-up film will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.

Denis Villeneuve is directing Dune: Part Two from a screenplay he co-wrote with Jon Spaihts based on Herbert’s novel. The film is being produced by Villeneuve, Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Tanya Lapointe and Patrick McCormick. The executive producers are Josh Grode, Herbert W. Gains, Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, Kim Herbert, Thomas Tull, Jon Spaihts, Richard P. Rubinstein and John Harrison, with Kevin J. Anderson serving as creative consultant.

Warner Bros. recently announced that Dune: Part Two had been pushed back from October 20, 2023 to November 17, 2023.

I haven't see the first one yet, so I'm going to wait until the second one hits streaming, and then I'll watch the both of them together.

I did this with all three Back to the Future films (waited until they were all on VHS and rented them), and I think I enjoyed it a lol more than I would have had I waited a long time between films to see what happens next.

Am I the only one who didn’t like dune? Like I’m not trying to shit on this movie but I just couldn’t get into it and while it looked okay (big landscape shots only get me so far) I just didn’t get that “I need more of this” feeing. What is it that everyone liked about this?

Can't wait. Based on the book, I bet this one really brings it up to eleven from the first one.

Count me in as wishing I would have waited to watch both together back to back. I thought they already started filming the sequel months ago. Now I find out they've only just now started shooting? Gonna be another two years probably.. Ugh...

Don't understand why everyone went crazy over the first one. It felt like a three hours long set-up movie and I couldn't tell you much about the main character, if you put a gun to my head.

@FinnishDude - I can't really tell you a lot about him either.

The movie sure did look amazing, and deserves all the praise it get's for that in my opinion. The story and characters could've been better though.

Kinda look forward to this one. Part One was pretty much one big set-up, so I now wanna see the pay-off too.

Anyway, it's got an impressive cast. Hope it isn't the case that they all portray characters that push Paul around, instead of him being a developed character of himself
