We got some very interesting updates on Dan Trachtenberg's Predator prequel movie earlier today, and 20th Century Studios has now revealed a first look promo image and logo for Prey. Check it out...

Earlier on, we learned that the Predator movie we've been calling "Skulls" since it was first announced last year will actually be Titled Prey, and is set to release on the Hulu streaming service next summer. Now, 20th Century Studios has shared a first look image and logo as part of Disney+ Day.

The promo poster doesn't fully reveal the Predator, but we do get an obscured glimpse of the alien hunter as he stalks Comanche warrior Naru (Legion actress Amber Midthunder) through the mist.

10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg will helm the movie, which will take place "in the world of the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, following Naru, a skilled female warrior who fiercely protects her tribe against a highly evolved alien predator."

Shane Black's underwhelming 2018 effort, The Predator, seemed to put the sci-fi action film series to rest for a while, but it looks like Disney is determined to breath new life into the franchise. The script is being written by Patrick Aison, whose producer/writer credits include Kingdom, Jack Ryan and Treadstone.

The first - and by far the best - Predator movie came out back in 1987 and starred Arnold Schwarzenegger as the leader of a group of mercenaries who find themselves hunted by a merciless alien creature.

“Only on Hulu”

Really? That’s kinda strange.

@santoanderson - guess the movie isn't that good or they don't have a lot of confidence in it

@HeavyMetal4Life - It can’t be worse than the last several Predator reboots.

I liked her on Legion so I'll give it a chance, but I'm hoping they don't blow it like they did with the 2018 flick.

@ModHaterSLADE - Trying so hard not to get hyped up for this. The first Predator is my favorite movie but I dislike all of the sequels (the one on the predator planet was ok). Dont want to be disappointed yet again.

In principle it sounds like a good idea going back in history etc. but I can't figure out how she stands a chance with that bow and arrow.

Maybe it's a very old Predator with a bad back and poor eyesight.

@Catmanlives - How so? Dutch beat the first Predator with Boy Scout tricks and Home Alone traps. A Comanche will probably kick his ass!

Catmanlives - 11/12/2021, 12:23 PM
@HeeroG - Yeah I guess that's true. Fair enough. Although you have to wonder, if the Predators were getting beaten by mud all the way back then, theyre pretty slow learners.
I guess it pays not to think about these things and enjoy the ride! ;)

This is like a really good idea. I want to see more of this kind of thing where they show people in the past fighting Predators

@noahthegrand - hell yeah. Make it an anthology franchise through history. I can dig it.

I'm waiting for the inevitable "future" predator movie where they come to our planet in some Blade Runner/ Mad Max like dystopian future where earth isn't such a nice place anymore and Humans are all brutal survivors with advanced tech.

So whole Squad of elite mercenaries/soldiers with modern age weapons couldn’t take down a Predator…
…and…the odds will improve now going 300 years in the past?

Will the predator suddenly have 300 year old less technology? Which would still be thousands of years beyond human comprehension,

🤦‍♂️

@IronGenesis - I swear that people don't watch these movies or pay attetntion to it...
Dutch only defeated the Predator after loosing all the modern weapons and going back to mud and Boy Scout tricks and traps.

@HeeroG - Dutch's big win was still a hard one. It wasn't a win that was easily achieved by his traps. He still got beaten bad. It's not as simple as I think you suggest.
dagenspear
dagenspear - 11/12/2021, 1:48 PM
@HeeroG - I'd also suggest that if it's as simple as that, it lacks tension, to me.
HeeroG
HeeroG - 11/12/2021, 2:58 PM
@dagenspear - Who suggested it was easy? I just said that modern weapons means nothing. In the end is all about wits, will and inteligence.
dagenspear
dagenspear - 11/12/2021, 5:57 PM
@HeeroG - I think to suggest that it was an issue of modern weapons specifically, to me, is a not very nuanced take. To me, I think it could be also down to how it was used.
