We're expecting to get a first look at some footage (it'll most likely be a behind-the-scenes teaser) from Shazam! Fury of the Gods next month at DC FanDome, and director David F. Sandberg has now officially announced that production on the DC Comics sequel has wrapped.

Reports did the rounds last week that filming had been completed, but they were a little premature, as Sandberg clearly still had a few shots to get in the can.

The filmmaker shared a first look at the Shazam Family in their redesigned costumes back in June, so we were hoping he'd have a little more to show us once shooting had wrapped. For now, we'll have to make do with a shot of the clapperboard and the movie's logo, as well as the following image Sandberg posted to Instagram!

The Shazam! sequel will see the return of Zachary Levi as the titular superhero, along with Asher Angel as Billy Batson, Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddy Freeman, Meagan Good as Darla, Ross Butler as Eugene, Grace Fulton as Mary, D.J. Cotrona as Pedro and Adam Brody as powered-up Freddy. They'll be joined by Rachel Zegler, Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu as the villainous daughters of Atlas.

Shazam: Fury of the Gods is set to hit theaters on June 2, 2023.

Almost 2 years from wrap to screen? I know we've kind of gotten use to it and there is a backlog, but damn.

They should do a Shazam animated series at some point. Get someone like Craig Mccracken to make it. Could be cool, do something like

I respect the hell out of David F. Sandberg. Dude is a national treasure. He has had a YouTube channel for years where he totally shatters the mystique around filmmaking. From low budget to multi-million productions, he breaks it down so the average wannabe filmmaker like myself can easily learn techniques. Directors can sometimes come off as elitist, and pretentious. This guy seems like a regular dude who is trying to help. Much respect.

I am looking forward to this sequel. Hopefully they can show us a fun teaser during DC FanDome instead of having to wait till 2022 to get our first official footage look.

Off-topic: @KingPatel

We got our first pics from S8 of The Flash's Armageddon special crossover event as well as a look of how Despero should look like in the finished product through concept art of him.

(Some are pointing out that he is missing his third eye while others argue it is easy to notice it due to that bump on his forehead and it'll likely open up later)
