If the likes Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Venom: Let There Be Carnage have proved anything, it's that the best possible way to release movies - even in this "pandemic era" - is in theaters. The Suicide Squad, on the other hand, bombed thanks to its HBO Max debut the same day it arrived in multiplexes (there were other reasons, but that was one of the biggest).

A spinoff TV series, Peacemaker, is heading to the streaming service, but a direct sequel seems unlikely all things considered. Despite that, it appears James Gunn could remain a recurring presence in the DC Extended Universe, and the filmmaker has made no secret of his interest in a Harley Quinn spinoff.

If this project came to pass, it would reunite Gunn with Margot Robbie, and the writer and director has now shared some new concept art featuring various designs for Harley's appearance in The Suicide Squad. He also confirmed, "The beach uniform was inspired by her outfit in the Injustice 2 video game."

Hopefully, more concept art from the movie will be revealed soon as we'd love to see early designs for characters like Peacemaker, King Shark, and Bloodsport given how unique they looked in live-action.

The Suicide Squad was directed by James Gunn from his own screenplay and stars Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, John Cena, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, Peter Capaldi, David Dastmalchian, Daniela Melchior, Michael Rooker, Alice Braga, and Pete Davidson. The Blu-ray will be released on October 26, 2021.

The popularity of this version baffles me. Every important event that shaped her happened off-screen or didnt happen at all.

-Her falling in love and manipulation by Joker. We saw them in two flashbacks with zero build-up.

- The toxic aspect of their relationship was turned in a Bonnie and Clyde dynamic which takes away how much [frick]ed up her infatuation with him was. She was never even a villain really apart from a quick SS flashback with Batman.

- Her breaking free off him happened pretty much off-screen in BOP.

They pretty much skipped her entire character development.

@Jeight8 - I feel like DC has decided to skip some key character developments in order to try to catch up with Marvel. It is not just her.

@Jeight8 - she’s popular she been around long time this version have nothing do with it, there are things same thing that can be said about characters in marvel movies claw, Baron zemo, taskmaster, manderian iron man 3, and others there still around in movies maybe show in sequels which did very little and almost nothing important in movie and tv show only to be add in for fan support

@Urubrodi - Yeah but she is actually popular unlike a lot of DCEU versions of those characters.

That's what baffles me. There is a reason why the Mad Love episode of BTAS is so beloved. It shows what happens when a lonely person gets manipulated by a psychopath. We got none of that.

@Jeight8 - you know what, that’s some heavy stuff. And dark. It fits the Snyder tone. However I can’t say it fit the tones of her 3 directors.

And yet a cartoon could do it and get it right. Is it the 2090’s yet? Oh I’ll be dead never mind

@TheWalkingCuban - i mean abuae caj still be done in a pg-13 film.

Joker was basically manipulating her, we saw none of that or why she fell in love with him.

@Jeight8 :

You’ve figured it out, man. Character growth is the only thing that can appeal to people. Now I get why people liked Thanos - because of his character growth.
