Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has already surpassed the domestic gross of Black Adam after less than a week on release, but star Dwayne Johnson clearly doesn't feel too bitter about it...

Marvel Studios' Black Panther: Wakanda Forever began is global rollout last Friday, and quickly established its box office dominance with a $330 million+ opening weekend.

This result gave Ryan Coogler's powerful film the second-highest opening of the year behind fellow MCU sequel, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and saw it unseat 2013's The Hunger Games: Catching Fire for the biggest November debut of all time.

In addition, the movie's domestic takings have already eclipsed the $151M+ Black Adam has amassed after just over three weeks in theaters, and is quite close to surpassing the DC Comics adventure's $351 million worldwide total.

As it often the case, this has ignited a bit of a "flame war" on social media, but Black Adam star Dwayne Johnson wants no part in any negativity, and has offered his congratulations to Marvel and the Black Panther 2 team for the movie's success.

During an interview with iHeartRadio, Johnson made it very clear that he doesn't view both studios as being locked in some kind of rivalry.

“I’ve been asked that question a lot. When I talk about this is the new era in the DC Universe with Black Adam, are we going after Marvel? Is that what I mean by that? The answer is no. We’re not going to do that and there is no ‘war’ between DC and between MCU. That’s my opinion."

This sentiment has been echoed by Kevin Feige and others in the past, but rivalry or no, it's difficult to imagine Johnson and Warner Bros. Discovery not being just a little disappointed with Black Adam's BO performance.

He’s not wrong per se

Marvel does need DC somewhat it’s healthy competition

The better movies they put out the better the other has to work to top it and avoid the risk of audience burnout

Glad to hear that. Focus on getting people to the theaters.

Wakanda Forever is definitely way more superior than Black Adam, but I did enjoy my time at the theaters watching both.

Remember all the shet talk from the early Snyderverse cast… Mehmoa with his f*ck Marvel signature?

@slickrickdesigns - Snyder also took a few lame cheap shots at Marvel while putting out multiple failures. And now he's been relegated to Netflix.

There's most certainly is a war between the two.

People are just simply more reluctant to talk about it after one side got completely blew out of the water. It's the reason the DC fanboys stay crying in every Marvel article. They lost.

It's the reason why Feige said they'll no longer be announcing films 4 years in advance. DC will rush out and try to steal ideas and capitalize.

In short there isn't a real war because Marvel completely wrecked DC to the point of no return. The war was real.

The DC fanboys HATE Marvel's success.

@DCasAhobby - yes, a war none of the people involved consider a war. 🙄

This "war" is just two companies making their own movies. It's no different than any other studios. They even spread out their releases to avoid their films directly competing with each other and maximizing their profits.

It's just the fanboys that perpetuate the "war". And it's pretty hilarious 😂

He's right. There is no war. To quote Tywin Lannister "A lion doesn't concern himself with the opinions of sheep."
That's regarding studios. As a person I think Dwayne's a good dude.

Real comic fans have read and enjoyed both brands for years. It’s better that they both encourage one another to be as good as they can be. That includes congrats on the successes. Will never understand “the war” lol.

Black Adam’s release date perhaps wasn’t the best but they did it to give VFX artists more time (something Marvel could learn a thing or two from) and negotiate with Henry Cavill to return. DC movies shouldn’t come out to close to Marvel movies in my book as the former’s movies’ legs would be cut short at the box office. Reminds me of when WB dropped Justice League two weeks after Ragnarok but then again that was a bad movie and it’s box office prospects weren’t that high.

Classy of Dwayne to congratulate his rivals. He does have a relationship with Disney having done Moana and Jungle Cruise for them.
