With Halloween Kills nearly upon us, it's been a good week for horror movie previews, and following yesterday's big Scream trailer, Blumhouse has shared the first official trailer for Scott Derrickson's The Black Phone, which will see 4x Academy Award-nominee Ethan Hawke (Moon Knight; Training Day) tackle the most terrifying role of his career.
The film sees Derrickson return to his horror roots and is his first directorial project since 2016's Doctor Strange. He was initially developing this film at the same time he was in pre-production on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but after leaving the Marvel Studios sequel over creative differences, he opted to move full steam ahead with this project.
Derrickson co-wrote the screenplay with frequent collaborator C. Robert Cargill (Doctor Strange; Sinister). They are adapting the award-winning short story of the same name by Joe Hill from his New York Times bestseller 20th Century Ghosts.
In addition to Hawke as The Grabber, the cast features Mason Thames, Madeleine McGraw, Jeremy Davies, and James Ransone.
The Black Phone opens in theaters on February 4, 2022.

And they are dead set on making sure that what happened to them doesn’t happen to Finney.
