Marvel Studios reportedly has big plans for its monsters after the upcoming Werewolf by Night Special Presentation, with that character and Man-Thing set to factor into the MCU in a big way moving forward.

Werewolf by Night arrives on Disney+ this Friday, and the Marvel Studios Special Presentation looks set to usher in a new era of storytelling in the MCU. As well as introducing the title character, we'll also meet Man-Thing and Elsa Bloodstone, and all three heroes have the potential to make a huge splash in this shared world.

According to The Cosmic Circus, both Jack Russell and Man-Thing are expected to appear in future Marvel Studios projects, but they won't be alone.

"Many" monsters and creatures are now set to emerge from the shadows, with the cabal of monster hunters we meet in Werewolf by Night supposedly having been around for centuries. Who knows, perhaps something will happen to them in this special that results in monsters feeling safe to make their presence felt in the world again.

The site adds, "We are being told that in Phases 5 and 6 of the MCU, monsters will start to pop up more frequently in a number of projects. So, not only will Jack Russell and Man-Thing make waves in Earth-616, but also many sorts of creatures will pop up in the upcoming phases."

They go on to claim that "you can expect monsters to be everywhere in the MCU...These creatures won’t just stay hidden in the shadows, but they will actually blend into our society, and we won’t be able to know who’s who." That lines up with a lot of what we've been hearing about the next couple of Phases, and makes sense with Blade on the way.

While we don't know how these monsters will factor into The Multiverse Saga, it definitely feels like Marvel Studios might have plans for Midnight Suns and/or Legion of Monsters projects.

Werewolf by Night premieres on Disney+ this Friday.

I love how 14 years ago in the MCU Earth was seemingly just a regular place before Tony Stark to a bomb to the chest. Now the world is crazy as shit. Hella super heroes and villains and alien invasions and celestial and eternals battling and deforming the planet and gods and monsters running around and superhero lawyers... and the civilians just gind this shit normal now and make musicals and sell t-shirts and have conventions.

The MCU is a special world lol

@TheVandalore - yeah it's just like the first fourteen years of marvel comics

@TheVandalore - Well you're not considering the ancient celestial and eternals around, asgardians saving earth from the frost giants, supersoldiers in ww2 onwards, cap marvel in the 90s and so on, but I get what you mean.

@TheVandalore - being that we are in the multiverse saga, I wonder if things like werewolf by night, moon knight, deadpool3, take place in a different universe. Then due to incursions, these universes are smushed together

I'm all for monsters baby. But don't make them this regular thing that you see on the street without turning your head twice (as natural as that may be in a world that's already full of fantastical elements.)

I don't know what "blend into our society" means exactly, but I prefer "hidden in the shadows".

@Fares - I see what you mean. Even in the comics, civilians would still turn their heads if they see a mutant who can't pass as human.

I mean, depending on how you look at it we’ve already seen plenty of things you could consider monsters

I think they mean Earth 199999.
616 is the prime earth in the comics. Otherwise this is going to get confusing.
Urubrodi
Urubrodi - 10/4/2022, 7:22 AM
@BritishMonkey - They used the term 616 in Multiverse of Madness to designate the main MCU earth. Plus, let's be honest that 199999 doesn't roll out of the tongue easily.
OmegaBlack13
OmegaBlack13 - 10/4/2022, 10:11 AM
@BritishMonkey - It really doesn’t have to. You can just say “the comics” or “the movies” the same way anyones been doing when discussing these things with people who don’t read the comics.
OmegaBlack13
OmegaBlack13 - 10/4/2022, 10:14 AM
@Urubrodi - I never understood why people got so up in arms about this. I’ve always thought that basically every tv show video game or movie is just an adaptation of 616, maybe with other elements thrown in. It doesn’t have to all fit in the same multiverse, in fact unless they’re gonna adhere to the exact rules from the comics, it can’t. Nobody watches the CW stuff or TDK trilogy and tries to figure out where it fits in DC’s multiverse.
Urubrodi
Urubrodi - 10/4/2022, 10:28 AM
@OmegaBlack13 - Yeah, at that point it'd become a collection of multiverses.
BritishMonkey
BritishMonkey - 10/4/2022, 10:34 AM
@Urubrodi - Yes I know. I saw the film.
But everyone knows 616 is the comics.
Urubrodi
Urubrodi - 10/4/2022, 10:39 AM
@BritishMonkey - And the movies are an adaptation of what? I personally don't see it as a huge deal as they would never connect anyways. The MCU has its own idea of multiverse.

Like the quality of the MCU or not but damn it's nice to see Marvel giving the spotlight to so many of their various characters in their stable instead of just depending on and repeating the use of their top 4 or 5 most popular ones.
Urubrodi
Urubrodi - 10/4/2022, 7:24 AM
@Mugens - Yeah, I can't wait for the F4 and X-Men to show up like everyone else, but it's very cool to see a character like Werewolf by Night in live action. Soon will be seeing The Living Mummy, Manphibian, Frankenstein's monster...

PG and PG-13 monsters sounds lame. I guess they are now copying DC animated and their Justice League Dark stuff.

@WarMonkey - it’s been said that Werewolf by night only evaded the R-rating (or TV-MA) by making it black and white. Even so, I’m hopeful that the MCU is going to eventually break into r-rated territory with the addition of deadpool.

@thunderpun573 - Deadpool needs to be R! I did hear there are a ton of body parts being slashed off like arms and hands in WBN. I hope it's good but right now I feel like it's kinda just copying 60 year old movies I've seen before. This is Marvel so I would like something more than that.

I did love the Justice League Dark films and have seen them all multiple times so would be cool to see something like that here I hope

thunderpun573 - 10/4/2022, 7:12 PM
@WarMonkey - fair enough, I also really hope they’re able to faithfully lean into all the horror elements. They need to get GDT to direct a Midnight Suns movie.

I remember waaaaaay back how much I wanted to see the Marvel Monster making their way into the MCU... but now I'm not to sure if I want them based on what we've been getting. I guess it'll depend on how the special is.
