Coming off an exciting San Diego Comic-Con in which Marvel Studios dominated the headlines with their Phase 4 plans, Disney has announced its superhero plans for D23 Expo 2019 next month.

Continuing the momentum, Marvel Studios will be hosting panels featuring the talented filmmakers and artists of the MCU. Marvel announced a number of different MCU projects that'll release both in theaters and through the Disney+ streaming service, including The Eternals, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, WandaVision, HawkeyeThor: Love and Thunder, and more. It's unclear just how much will be shown from the MCU's upcoming Phase 4, but it's something to look forward to nonetheless.

In addition to the panel, the "Marvel Studios" Pavilion the show floor will allow guests to "step inside the action of the record-breaking Avengers: Endgame at a D23 Expo-exclusive video experience, and tour the costume gallery to see costumes worn by characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe." A separate "Imagining Tomorrow, Today" Pavilion will offer a look at the plans for Disney's Marvel expansions at the parks in Hong Kong, Paris, and California.

I’m assuming they speak more on GOTG 3 and BP 2. More BW footage and concept art as well as Eternals and Shang Chi concept stuff.

@BlackBeltJones - even though Coogler has just started writing the script, could they still have concept art released?

@Robby - I'm almost positive that at this point he's going to be a supporting character in either GOTG v3, Thor 4, or eternals. I wish they'd give him his own movie and they very well might at some point. But I believe he's going to be introduced in one of those films first.

@JohnnyStorm - Gunn said he doesn't have any plans for him. I really hope he isn't in Thor 4 because of how Taikki might handle him and I don't really see him making an appearance in Eternals. If he were to be introduced in another movie that's not a solo film, it should be CM2. It's a shame the Russo's didn't end up using him as the one that warned Strange and Wong that Thanos was coming.

Really impressed with Wesley Snipes response - passing the torch to a new Blade. A class act.

“To all the DAYWALKERS losing their minds right now, chillaaxx. Although the news comes as a surprise, it’s ALL good. Such is the ‘business’ of ‘entertainment!’ Much peace to the MCU crew - always a fan," Snipes says. "Honor and respect to the grandmaster Stan. Congratulations and Salaam to Mahershala Ali, a beautiful and talented artist whose expressions I look forward to experiencing for many years to come. Inshallah, we will someday work together. Most importantly to my loyal fans, the incredible outpouring of love is overwhelming. I am grateful for the never-ending support. So, ‘nah fret nah worry, it’s not de end of de story.’ Welcome to the Daywalker Klique.”

@BillyBatson1000 - Translation: Marvel I will take literally any job you have. Even the type of deal you hooked Vin Diesel up with. I'll be your next talking tree that says three words.

@BeyondtheFuture - Ah, you cynic . .. But, if that was true, you know Robert Downey, Jr. made a similar pitch after his history - and that didn't work out too bad.

BillyBatson1000 - 7/23/2019, 11:23 AM
@CorndogBurglar - Agreed, I didn't expect that. He's held on to the idea of returning to the role for many years. Even if it was just him thinking that.

@BeyondtheFuture - He should be the first blade. Not make his movie canon, but a nod. But today he’s broken down and helps the new blade, always criticizing how he’s not good enough yet. Wesley Snipes for Whistler.

@BillyBatson1000 - Lol yeah I just think he's playing the game. Downey. Jr was incredibly lucky and incredibly talented. That said I love Wesley Snipes too. White Men Can't Jump is a classic.

@Havenless - Love this idea, pitch it to Marvel haha xD
BillyBatson1000
BillyBatson1000 - 7/25/2019, 3:09 PM
@BeyondtheFuture - You're right. And as Downey Jnr said in an interview, not so long ago, (paraphrasing) "these days I'm a company man."
BeyondtheFuture
BeyondtheFuture - 7/25/2019, 5:20 PM
@BillyBatson1000 - I do wonder what will happen now he's not Iron Man. I think what we might see is that these MCU stars aren't actually bankable and it's the characters that people care about. So, no one's going to watch Holland if he's not Spiderman, or Hemsworth if he's not Thor. I know Downey Jr said he's done with the MCU but I bet after a couple BO bombs he wants to return. Not that I'm wishing for him to fail of course.

Although after seeing the trailer for Gemini Man I can't help but think it would be cool to use the same tech to pull a younger, Stark out of the past and bring him to the present played by Downey Jr. This could be a new challenge for him to because the younger stark definitely wouldn't have the same personality as the one we'v'e seen. He wouldn't have had the life changing moment in the cave and it could be cool to explore that.
BillyBatson1000
BillyBatson1000 - 7/25/2019, 6:35 PM
@BeyondtheFuture - You've said so much I agree with! Downey Jnr is an exception to this point; he's the definite 'come-back kid'. But few of the MCU actors were actually paid a large scale salary. I think that's why there are so many non-American artists in the line-up. British, Australians (etc) agreed to work for less. They opted for big exposure and a longer-term pay-off with multiple-appearance/multiple film contracts. I'm not denigrating their skills, but how many of them have 'star power?' 'Can OPEN a film? On the 4th of June, Chris Hemsworth announced that he was 'quitting Hollywood.' It might be for a year/or a genuine early retirement. but careers can go cold really fast and rarely recover. I doubt we'll see many of those actors again - unless they were already established. Maybe in low-budget indie films?

A younger, more reckless Stark would be cool (the current one had fulfilled his character arc). Perhaps also finding a way to resurrect Obadiah Stane? My biggest beef with the MCU is how casually they 'kill' off their best villains.
BeyondtheFuture
BeyondtheFuture - 7/26/2019, 7:35 AM
@BillyBatson1000 - Yeah totally Chris Evans was only paid a couple hundred thousand for the first Avengers. Same with Hemsworth. Of course by Endgame they were earning the largest salaries just behind Downey Jr so it certainly paid off. And yeah they definitely have skills. Hemsworth has great comedic timing and Chris Evan's brought such a raw emotion to the role of Captain America I can't see anyone else in that role.

I think another issue is that they're all very much typecast now. If you look at the comments for the new Netflix true story film Evan's is doing they're like 'so this is what Cap was doing after Civil War.' Obviously they're joking but if they truly want to move on they're going to face a struggle to break free from those parts.

I think that might be why Renner and Hemsworth are happy to stay in the MCU for now.

Yep I think the biggest mistake with the villains was killing off Michael B Jordan in Black Panther. That was a very rich character that you could do a lot with, hopefully without him becoming a Loki replacement. I think they're going to reverse that though and I believe the Multiverse will allow for a lot of dead characters to come back. I just don't think they can resist tapping into that pool. I bet they have the multiverse open for about a phase and then it gets destroyed or something. Assuming we can take the title of Dr Strange 2 literally. I am a little sceptical though after Far From Home.

I hope we get some more clarity on F4, X-men, and Deadpool. As well as GOTG V3, Im not expecting this to be much different than SDCC. Hopefully we get a little wider perspective on what direction things are going in terms of a big event storyline
