The latest new face to join returning cast members Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver and Sam Worthington in James Cameron's 4-strong Avatar sequels is Oona Chaplin, who Game of Thrones fans will no doubt recognise as Robb Stark's ill-fated bride, Talisa, who met her end at the infamous Red Wedding.

According to THR, Chaplin will play a "strong and vibrant" central character named Varang, who "spans the entire saga of the sequels."

Plot details are still under wraps.

Avatar 2 is set to hit theatres on Dec. 18, 2020; Avatar 3 Dec.17, 2021; Avatar 4 Dec. 20, 2024; and Avatar 5 will open Dec. 19, 2025.

do we really need more Avatar movies ? i only watched it once in cinema (3D was great, obviously) but was never keen to watch it again.

they better make it technically awesome because besides the effects and 3D and (perhaps) 60 fps (done right) i cannot find any more reason to watch this movie.

@jerryblake - this is his life now. It all goes back to his conquest of his fear of the unknown, represented by the sea. He is now at home with it, and through the metaphor of avatar, is becoming one with what he once feared, and is willing to fight for it.

I don't know about this.. By the time they shoot this film she will be 57 years old, they may have to digitally make her look like her current self.

Avatar was a serious work of visual art, but I hope they have some new tricks up their sleeve for part 2.
