Although Benicio Del Toro's Collector is confirmed to be absent from James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, the talented actor is merely trading in one Disney sci-fi space blockbuster for another, as he'll play a major role in Rian Johnson's follow up to J.J. Abrams' The Force Awakens.  While details on his role in Star Wars: The Last Jedi have been kept under wraps, MakingStarWars.net believes they have some solid clues on Del Toro's character.

The site reports:

This brings me to Benicio Del Toro’s character. He is either named D.J. or it is his code name used by the production. He wears all black. He has a trench coat on with a Han Solo-style belt at his waist to hold his blaster. His hair is short. He also has a strange cap that doesn’t have a bill to it. He looks slimy and dirty but the bill-less cap makes him look sort of like a throwback to a different era. He belongs in the criminal underworld by the looks of him. The man in black-style character we heard about is certainly there but his style evokes a few things in the design. His trench coat reminds me of Anakin’s Revenge of the Sith costume in that its lapels evoke a tabard look and its black leather. All of this makes his ship all the more curious to me.

The site goes on to report that how Del Toro's character looks is in stark contrast to his ship, which looks as if the Millennium Falcon had the interior of a five-star Abu Dhabi hotel and has the feel of the sample Apple-esque redesign Storm Troopers received in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. MakingStarWars.net writes, "If the Falcon is a Winnebago this ship is a luxury yacht made by Bill Gates."

What role do you think Del Toro will play in Episode VIII? Will he become a pseudo replacement for Harrison Ford's Han Solo? Or will he be aligned with the dark side? Let us know in the comment section below.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens in theaters on December 15, 2017.Rumor has it that the first trailer will be released online on Star Wars Day aka  'May the Fourth'?

@IKidYouNotMan - I dont think they would reveal Thrawns fate (assuming he lives) before Rebels seires is finished.

I personally think he is crucial to the First Order. We know from Aftermath that he came from the unknown regions + there was an Imperial Star Destroyer waiting therewhen Rae Sloanes ship made it out.

My guess, is that Sidious will send him out there again at the end of Rebels.

@StormXmen123 - I was thinking something similar, he leaves known space or gets taken from the playing field in Rebels to return in a Star Wars movie down the line.

@IKidYouNotMan - Also by being an alien he may not be restricted to a human life span (about 80 years).

He could show up in post the Sequel Triology.

@SimyJo - I dont want Ezra to go to the darkside. It mimiks Anakins arc too much.

Plus he has already rejected it by refusing to be Mauls apprentice.

@StormXmen123 - I still believe Del Toro is going to be Bridger. And as for rejecting the Dark Side, 1 little tragedy in his life, maybe the death of a loved one, should be enough to push him over the edge.

Be it, there is no actual confirmation yet as to if he is good/bad.

@SimyJo - Man, i love the Del Torro = Ezra Bridger theory!!! And I don't HATE the Rey Bridger theory as well:

"Simply put, I think Benicio Del Toro is going to be Rey’s father. … But that’s not to say Del Toro will be playing a new character. I think he’s playing an adult Ezra Bridger (from the Rebels TV show). He’d be about the right age, and there have been theories that Rebels will end with Ezra (and Kanan if he’s still alive) joining Luke’s new Jedi Academy. But then why was she left on Jakku? The theory I’ve come up with is that Ezra fall to the dark side. He joins forces with Snoke and together they start manipulating the Jedi starting with Ben Solo. Foreseeing this, Luke hides Rey from her father, and in retaliation Ezra, through or with Kylo Ren, destroy the Jedi Academy. Luke flees and Del Toro is left without knowing where his daughter is hidden."

http://www.slashfilm.com/reys-dad-theory-benicio-del-toro-as-ezra-bridger/

Sure some elements could be tweaked, but i would love the connectivity. Plus, I think Del Torro would be a fantastic casting of an adult Ezra.

@nonserviam - He has faced tragedy. His parents were killed and he accpeted their deaths, and he also flirted with the darkside when kanan was blinded and Ahsoka "died" but yet ultimately rejected it when actively asked to join the Drakside by Maul.

Anakin on the other hand. When his mother died he gave into anger and killed the tusken raiders. He also gave into anger througout the clone wars. And unlike Ezra, when he was asked to join the Darkside by Sidious, he did.

@nonserviam - Exactly! All it would take is for Kanan to die in a bad way to push him over...

@StormXmen123 - But Ezra wasn't quite the ticking time bomb that he is now. He hadn't been influenced by the Sith Holocron or Maul yet. He may have know the loss of his parents, but he wasn't as strong with the force as he is now.
You take away Kanan or Sabine, and his passions might get the best of him. And as we all know -
Peace is a lie, there is only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.
The Force shall free me.....
