SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME Star [SPOILER] Reveals Scene That Brought Them Back To The Franchise

One of the stars of Spider-Man: No Way Home has recalled their first meeting with Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures, revealing the one scene that convinced him to suit up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Tobey Maguire mostly keeps himself to himself these days, so we've yet to hear his thoughts on returning as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Andrew Garfield has, however, been able to break down his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as the Amazing Spider-Man, including what specifically led to him agreeing to join the threequel.

It's no secret Sony Pictures pulled the rug from under the actor when he was playing Spider-Man, as there had been plans for two more sequels and a Sinister Six movie before Tom Holland replaced him. With that in mind, no one would have blamed Garfield for wanting to leave the role behind him.

However, talking to Happy Sad Confused, Garfield revealed that there was one idea, in particular, that led to him knowing this was the right place to suit up as Spider-Man again.

"I went to their offices, and they said, 'Well, this is what we want to do. We think it can really work. We don't have a script yet. We don't want it to be like a stunt thing,'" the actor recalled. "'We don't want it to be like a kind of a cameo, like a quick in and out. We want it to be actually in service to Tom's journey as Peter and in service to both of your different Peters and we really think there's something really interesting to explore about when these three lone wolves who think they're alone in the universe in their own singular experience of being Spider-Man come together.'"

"The main image that they pitched me was catching Zendaya, catching MJ," Garfield said of what it was that sold him on the movie. "That was the first page I saw and I was like, 'There's no way of not doing this,' because that's profound. That's a profound moment like an older brother saving his little brother from his same fate across the universe. If that portal hadn't been opened up, and my Peter Parker hadn't been there at that moment, it's arguable that he would have had the same fate."

"You suddenly get into this incredible cosmic, meant-to-be destined moment where I get to heal the worst trauma in my life while simultaneously saving my little brother from having to experience that same trauma. Suddenly you're in very mythic territory, and it's just profoundly beautiful."

The moment Garfield's Spider-Man saved MJ was among the scenes that drew cheers from fans in movie theaters, and it served as redemption for Peter after he failed to rescue Gwen Stacy.

With that, the stage has been set for the wall-crawler to have a much brighter future in his world after heading down a dark path in his own. Fans remain optimistic that's going to be explored in some manner, something Garfield has expressed interest in making a reality on multiple occasions.
