Warner Bros. released the Snyder Cut of Justice League, but what about the Ayer Cut of Suicide Squad? Morbius star Jared Leto (who played The Joker in the movie) is in full support of its eventual release.

Zack Snyder's Justice League didn't break streaming records when it debuted on HBO Max, but it was a hit for WarnerMedia and sold an awful lot of Blu-rays down the line. It's no wonder, then, that #RestoreTheSnyderVerse continues to make an impact on social media, but for many DC fans, the hope is that Warner Bros. will #ReleaseTheAyerCut of Suicide Squad

We're no closer to that happening after The Suicide Squad slightly underwhelmed in theaters earlier this year, and Task Force X may now be D.O.A. beyond next January's Peacemaker

During a recent interview, Joker actor Jared Leto weighed in on the possibility of the "Ayer Cut" - which we know contains a lot more of his performance as the Clown Prince of Crime - being released. "Absolutely! Why not?" the Oscar-winner said of that version of Suicide Squad potentially seeing the light of day. "Why wouldn't they? Why wouldn’t they? I mean, that's what streaming's for, right?"

Later, Ayer - who vowed to stop talking about Suicide Squad earlier this year - weighed in, and seemingly remains keen on his original version of the movie seeing the light of day. Why? Because it would be beneficial to WarnerMedia's shareholders. That's up for debate, though it's a shame Warner Bros. stifled the filmmaker's creative vision to the extent there is a whole different cut floating around.

Would you check out the Suicide Squad Ayer Cut on HBO Max or Blu-ray if it were released?

Well yeah the mandate is to monetise, but in order to do that you need things that'll bring you money and his cut will deter rather than attract lol. Let it die

@Cap1 - People would even unsubscribe from HBO Max “Do I really have to finish curb your enthusiasm? Not with that crap next to it”

If this guy wants people to see Morbius he should really let them forget his Joker as soon as possible. Yuck. Methhead Joker is the WORST

Release it on Blu-Ray and it will make money.

Any version of this movie on any streaming service would be a criminal waste of server real-estate.

@musicsuperhero1 - You're assuming I have better things to do with my time, which as things stand now, is not correct.

But thank you for putting me at such a high regard.

@Fares - list of possibly better things to do with your time:

practice flipping your eyelids inside out
trimming your fingernails; toenails
picking your nose
breaking a bad habit (see 'picking your nose')
reading that book you keep saying you're going to read someday
cleaning out your closet
cleaning the bathroom
doing the dishes

i could go on? LOL

@Fares - LOL i did not like it, in fact. But i was more frustrated by the squandered potential.

But, in fairness, i've certainly seen worse.

@Krav - When the press tour from "Army of the Dead" turned more into a "Snyder Cut" tour I was certain Netflix was pissed, turns out the seemed to enjoy the baiting.

@Krav - Jared Leto is on a press tour and Ayer Cut is trending on a weekly basis, so of course people are going to ask him about it.

What Ayer fails to realize:

1. Snyder had a very active and loud fanbase behind it supporting his vision.
Meanwhile the Ayer fanbase is certainly smaller and less enthused about the project.

2. the Snyder Cut was not the success many had hoped, it stayed behind every other major HBO Max release and given the internet hype behind it that must have been a very dissapointing turnout for WB. The internet made it sound like that movie would kick the ass of every movie releasing alongside it, that's why WB invested 70mil in that movie.
In the end Mortal Kombat (a wholy NEW movie that cost 20mil less than an extended cut of something they had already sunk a lot of money into) beat it out, which MUST have been a blow.

3. WB intends to make more Suicide Squad going forward, the Ayer Cut could very well damage the IP through even more negative press. Especially after Gunn's version certainly softened public opinion on the IP

If I was WB, I wouldn't do it.
But it's WB, so I have no doubt it'll happen eventually

@Blergh - I don't know; maybe Ayer "does" realize this (since it isn't hard to find out the facts you brought up), but is trying anyway because it doesn't hurt and it might help.

It's like fishing; he keeps casting a line to see if he gets any bites.

@Blergh - I agree that, especially with the more successful TSS from James Gunn's effort, they'd want Ayer's SS to be, well, forgotten? I would think that by pushing an "Ayer Cut" that'd be a bit of a slap in the face to James Gunn, who gave them a much better SS movie (even if still flawed), a new opportunity at a successful franchise, and an escape from their predicament.

@Blergh - The difference between the Snyder Cut and the Ayer Cut is that the Ayer Cut was actually completed beforehand.
