Back in August, 2K and Firaxis Games revealed their next big project, Marvel's Midnight Suns, a tactics role-playing game inspired by the early '90s comic event and rather dark storyline. Although the game was announced with a launch date of March 22, 2022, it seems the developer needs a bit more time.

In a post on Twitter, Creative Director Jake Solomon and Senior Franchise Producer Garth DeAngelis, announced that the launch window for Marvel's Midnight Suns has been delayed to the second half of 2022. The decision to push back the game's release clearly wasn't an easy one, but the developers believe its in the best interest of the game. In their message to fans, they said the extra time will allow them to "add more story, cinematics and overall polish and will be essential in helping us make our vision a reality."

We got our first look at gameplay from Marvel's Midnight Suns back in September. The game features tactical, turn-based combat with an intriguing card-based mechanic.

As for the story, you'll be playing as The Hunter, a fully customizable character, who is summoned to help defeat Lilith, Mother of Demons. To prevent Lilith from spreading her armies across the world, you'll fight alongside iconic Marvel heroes such as Captain America, Iron Man and Captain Marvel, and more.

Marvel's Midnight Suns no longer has a specific release date, but the game will still be available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.

For a second there I thought we were getting a live-action Midnight Sons announcement...

Anyway, this wasn't high on my list, so I don't mind to wait a little longer.

@bkmeijer -
We won't get a 'Midnight SONS' ever because they were so triggered by the title of the team having the words 'SONS' they changed it to 'SUNS' that's how insane the people working on this stuff is.

This game went from being one of the most hyped to a fart in the wind when they revealed that it's a card game

@dracula - that's probably Netherealm studios next game but honestly I'm hoping for MK12 seeing how early they kiLLed the support for a big game like MK11.

@BlackBeltJones - A Daredevil game, but all the interactive parts are done in the same wire-frame Radar Sense view from like Waid's run.

Outdoor fights would become more difficult during random rain, snow or loud noises (like trucks or trains rolling by), while fights in the dark and quiet areas are easier. Focus more on stealth take downs.

This isn't my kind of genre for a game but a lot of people do love these!

Always good to delay if need be, don't want a Cyberpunk situation. Hope it's good!

Can we all just get together and agree to stop calling every game a role playing game? Just because you put a bottleneck in your action game to delay unlocking abilities doesn't make it a role playing game. It's an action game. Megaman did it in 1987. No one called it an RPG.

Now if you'll excuse me, I've got to wave my walker in the air at the good-for-nothing kids on my lawn.

@Reeds2Much - I don't quite get this comment tbh. Definitely agree that not everything should be called an RPG, but Midnight Suns seems to be rather RPG-ish overall.

The way it seems after Moon Knight, Warewolf by Night and Blade that everything is leading up to a Midnight Suns and not Midnight Sons

'Card based tactical combat'

And my penis just reverted itself, there was almost hope. I'd love to know why developers decide their games would sell better if they were shit.
