THE NEW MUTANTS: Sunspot Ogles Magik In New Deleted Scene From The Upcoming Blu-ray

Not too surprisingly given the current climate, The New Mutants failed to make much of an impact at the box office when it hit theatres earlier this year, but the junior X-Men movie will get another chance to rake in a bit more coin when it makes its way to Blu-ray and DVD in just five days time.

Now, ET has shared a new deleted scene from the movie featuring an exchange between Magik (Anya Taylor-Joy) and Sunspot (Henry Zaga).

Illyana teleports in to steal a sip of Roberto's drink while he's catching some rays, before reminding him that she told him not to talk to her. As she's walking away, DaCosta has a good gawp and mutters, "didn't say I couldn't look."

Not too hard to see why this didn't make the cut! ET's player is as useless as ever, so you're probably better off check out the clip via the Twitter link.

"In this terrifying, action-fueled film based on the MARVEL comic series, five young people who demonstrate special powers are brought to a secret institution to undergo treatments they are told will cure them of the dangers of their powers. Included are Danielle Moonstar aka Mirage (Blu Hunt), who creates illusions from other people’s fears; Rahne Sinclair (Maisie Williams), who transforms into the werewolf Wolfsbane; Sam Guthrie (Charlie Heaton), who, as Cannonball, can fly at jet speeds protected by a force field; Roberto da Costa aka Sunspot (Henry Zaga), who absorbs and channels solar power; and Illyana Rasputin aka Magik (Anya Taylor-Joy). The younger sister of Colossus, Magik becomes encased in armor at will and wields a soulsword that amplifies her multiple superhuman and psychic abilities.
Invited by Dr. Cecilia Reyes (Alice Braga) to share their stories about when their powers first manifested, the five “patients” come to understand that they are in a class of people called mutants, who have historically been marginalized and feared. As they relive their origin stories, their memories seem to turn into terrifying realities. Soon, they question what is real and what isn’t, and it becomes clear that the institution isn’t what it seems. Now the question is — why are they being held captive? And who is trying to destroy them? The tension and horror mount in this white-knuckle thrill ride directed by Josh Boone and co-written by Boone and Knate Lee.”

The New Mutants arrives on Blu-ray on November 17. Do you guys plan on picking up a copy?

Anya Taylor-Joy was so good in The Queen’s Gambit. Hope she gets a good CBM role eventually, but she’ll crush Furiosa at least.

Could see her as Batgirl or Spider-Gwen

Still haven’t seen this. Heard it was terrible. I probably will just to say I completed the FoX-Men films.

@MrDandy - IMO not laughably bad like X-Men 3, Origins: Wolverine or Apocalypse. But around the mediocre to not-memorable camp(Days of Future Past, X-Men 1). The cast is good, but they're not really given much to work with. The story is very small, feeling more like the pilot of a tv show.

I definitely want to see the movie, if for no other reason than morbid curiosity (the same reason I watched the Snyder DC Films, and Fant4stic). That and my tastes don't fully align with other fans of the source. I enjoy a lot more than some do, because they pick it apart where I just judge if it is entertaining. My litmus test is if I ever check the time while watching a movie. If I do, it's probably a snorer.

@pclark - My take on the movie is that it's average across the board. Mostly because it feels like a pilot episode for a show. The characters have personality but with either very limited character arcs(Dani and Ilyana) to none at all(Sam, Henry, Rahne).

The action is competent but limited due to the lower budget and is reserved for the final act. Not a bad way to spend 90 minutes, but ultimately not very memorable.

@patgreyc - Worth a watch, definitely. But I probably won't revisit it any time soon.

Best thing about this was the SFX, half of the characters and Lockheed. Other than that it was miscast and had a bad and repetitive script.

I hope that was bad improv because if Josh Boone wrote that and kept it in the script.. then woof. Maybe it's time to work with writers if you're writing dated material from the 80's.

It was disappointing....especially after such a long wait. But it did have some very cool scenes and some top performances.
