CONFIRMED: ABC Renews MARVEL'S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. For A Fourth Season

Marvel has announced today that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is getting a fourth season, good news for fans of Agent Coulson and the Secret Warriors. However, what exactly is happening with Agent Carter?

Ratings may not have significantly improved during season three, but Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has performed well enough to earn itself a fourth season. Marvel and ABC made the news official today, and while no story or cast details have been revealed just yet (it's obviously still far too soon for that), you have to believe that it's going to continue telling the story of the Secret Warriors! "Before we can embark on Season 4," says Marvel, "Director Coulson and his tireless team still have to face the menace of Hive and the world's growing concerns about the number of Inhumans popping up across the globe. There's plenty to come as we begin the second half of Season 3, and you won't want to miss a minute of it!" What's going on with Agent Carter? Well, despite the fact that the season wrapped up last night, there's no word on that coming back for a third year, but declining ratings and tepid reviews may mean Peggy's adventures have come to an end. We'll keep you updated.

@JoeMomma29 - I would be excited to hear about LoT renewal, if Constantine leads the show.

We already know Flash and Arrow gets renewed.

Wow they didn't announced Season 3 renewed after S2 finale, but they have already announced Season 4 renewed. I am excited for it now.

As for Agent Carter, I'd rather had it cancelled and introduce something else. Like 3 Warriors, Cold War era, etc. In its place. Or make a altogether new series focused on foundation of SHIELD.

Surprising no one who understands how syndication works.

Shame about Agent Carter, though. They never quite found the right tone and approach for her show, and it probably suffered significantly by being on network. If they had gone more aggressively noir (as the first season sort of tried to do), maybe it could have worked better. The period aspect of the second season felt completely inauthentic, like Picard playing detective on a holodeck.

I hope Marvel realizes they have a lot of potential to do some great Golden Age stuff with characters like the Whizzer and Miss America, and include Carter as a leader. A well-written Liberty Legion show would at least be able to play with an Avengers team before the Avengers. Could be a lot of fun.
