The Never-Made 'Too Dark' SUPERMAN VS BATMAN Animated Series

Speaking exclusively to SciFiNow, Beware The Batman producer Mitch Watson revealed that they had some pretty dark notions for a Bats VS Supes show in mind when they first started spitballing show ideas.

“The first version was an Escape From New York kind of thing, which was a lot of fun, but I agree it was probably too dark for where they wanted to go with the show,” says Watson.

“Then we came up with the lighter version of the show, which was Batman – specifically Bruce Wayne – and Clark Kent at the beginning of their careers. The show revolved around Clark as a cub reporter coming to Gotham City, where he meets Bruce. They’re also just becoming Batman and Superman. Clark and Bruce become friends, but Batman and Superman hate each other. Then they realise who each other is, and get on the right side and end up living in the same building.

“It was, tonally, a very different approach,” he adds. “If Beware The Batman is centred in terms of tone, this was much lighter. It explored two guys in their early 20s as they were becoming heroes. That was the gist of the story. But there was just a feeling that although they really liked it, the timing for a Batman/Superman team-up show just didn’t feel right. Not yet. I can tell you that variations of that idea are always on the boards or something to possibly do, but it hasn’t happened yet.

“I think it would have been great, and maybe we’ll get a chance to do it some day.”

So what do you think guys, Do you want to see a Worlds Finest animated series?

Sounds cool.
If they really want a show that can be light hearted and dark at the same time, why not make animated series out of Shazam and Flash?

"Then they realise who each other is, and get on the right side and end up living in the same building."

Sounds like superhero sitcom. I'd watch that.

Living in the same building? "I own a mansion, but I'll slum it in an efficieny apartment building that a young freelance reporter could afford just so we can hang out while we launder our tights in the basement."

That actually sounds pretty good.

This show needs to be in the same universe as GLTAS, and that Hal Jordan has to make an appearance. It'd be so great and it could lead to a new JL show.

I better not see anybody's underwear though.

#NotJudging but seems like @Batman and @Superman living together and getting to know their powers plus one another sounds like BrokeBat Mountain. ##Kryptonite isn't the only thing that brings @supes to his knees.

Why does everything DC have to be dark? And there is literally no reason for Bruce to live with dark. That sounds like shit glad it wasn't made.

Why not make a GL corps Tv show or a Flash show or hell even a Green Arrow show. I know Batman and Superman are profitable but thats only because DC is really only marketing those characters.
