STAR TREK BEYOND Director Set To Direct SPACE JAM 2 With Lebron James

STAR TREK BEYOND Director Set To Direct SPACE JAM 2 With Lebron James

It's been almost 20 years since the release of Space Jam, and while many reports of a sequel with LeBron James have been said to be false, the announcment of Justin Lin directing may prove that it's actually happening.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Justin Lin, director of Fast Five and the upcoming Star Trek Beyond, is set to direct Space Jam 2, the sequel to 1996 cult hit, Space Jam, with Cleveland Cavaliers player, LeBron James set to star along side the animated Looney Tunes characters. They have also reported who the writers of the project will be.

"Lin, Andrew Dodge and Alfredo Botello are writing the script for the basketball sequel which will star the NBA player", The Hollywood Reporter reports. Andrew Dodge is best known for writing the 2014 black comedy, Bad Words, while Botello was a consultant on Lin's upcoming Star Trek film.

However, all this begs the question: Is this true? There have been reports of a sequel to Space Jam for a while, which have been proven to be false. However, this does seem like it could be true with the announcement of a director and writers. However, will this sequel see the light of day? I would assume WB would be a bit hesitant on getting the film made, seeing as the last theatrical Looney Tunes film, Back In Action, was a box office failure.

So, seeing as previous Space Jam 2 reports have been proven false, do you think this a true? And if you do, is this a good idea or a cynical attempt to cash in on nostalgia? Comment below.

I'm not a fan of Lebron's, so I'm not happy about this sequel. For the people that are congratulations on getting to see him in the sequel. The one good thing about Space Jam 2 is we at least get to see the Loony Tunes gang back on the big screen.

Sometimes I dream
That he is me
You've got to see that's how I dream to be
I dream I move, I dream I groove
Like Mike
If I could Be Like Mike
Like Mike
Oh, if I could Be Like Mike
Be Like Mike, Be Like Mike
Again I try
Just need to fly
For just one day if I could
Be that way
I dream I move
I dream I groove
Like Mike
If I could Be Like Mike
I wanna be, I wanna be
Like Mike
Oh, if I could Be Like Mike

Shouldn't be Curry. Should be Kobe since he's retired like Michael was in the first one

@Beetleborg - But in real life, Michael actually played baseball and sucked, then he came back (IDK about the whole "looney tunes" thing)

@Quicker - yeah I know that but in the context of the movie it took place during his retirement. So they could have current NBA players lose their talent, hopefully LeBron, Curry, Kawhi Leonard, Anthony Davis, and Durant. Those 5 would make for some interesting looking Alien caricatures. It would even be interesting to me to have a duo like both Kobe and Shaq in the movie. Kobe the straight guy and Shaq the funny guy like Stan in the original
