Should of had a Japanese cast and a Hollywood size budget.

@marvel72 - then a japanese company should've bought the rights and made the movie

@PapaLazarou - I thought they lent them the rights.

@marvel72 - Yep, because that would be a massive box office draw....

@Space - no idea but in that case if even the creators didn't give a shit then maybe people shouldn't make a big deal

@marvel72 - Yeah because thats exactly how business in Hollywood works. Look, there hasnt been one hugely successful anime/manga adaptation in the US nor are there any AAA Asian actors either. Hollywood isnt gonna spend millions of dollars on a movie that doesnt guarantee them a nice paycheck.

They're already gambling BIG on the fact that its a property based on a manga. The audience thats will make or break this film at the box office arent the anime weirdos complaining about this, its the general audience who have NO IDEA what the hell Ghost in the Shell is, but they sure as hell know who Scarlett Jo is.

And if you're wondering, yes I'm Asian and I absolutely do not care. Just be happy this isnt looking like Dragon Ball Evolution.

@PapaLazarou - Yeah a Japanese company should of brought it.If I'm correct the Anime of Attack On Titian has like one Japanese character in it the rest come across as European but the movie has an entire Asian cast.

*sigh*

Look, I try not to get mad and talk about Whitewashing, mainly because it's kind of a touchy subject. But.. *sigh*

ScarJo, I love ya. But you're not the Major. You could have gotten some up and coming Asian actress. Like Tao Okomoto. She needs some film work. Her promising role in DC literally got blown to peices.

@MarkJulian - interesting stuff. I remember those plot points from the anime. It's actually cool that they're using that

@MarkJulian - Even if they did fight a way to work around the whitewashing or if it was like Edge of Tomorrow where they change everything to make it American so they won't get in trouble. I just can't see ScarJo in the part. But I'll probably see the movie anyway.
